Recommend me some good fantasy/fiction that... (read OP)

... starts in a more or less "normal" and grounded setting.

I'm a huge sucker for fantasy and fiction storys but I realized that I prefer them them to start with a normal and believeable setting and then only go full fantasy later on. You know, kinda like Harry Potter, Neverending Story or Berserk. Makes it much more easy for me to get into the fantasy aspect of the story compared to when the story already starts in a fictional setting and I first have to wrap my head around the created world and it's laws before I can dig into the story itself. And yeah, I know that this is why most like fantasy and/or fiction but I just don't.

That being said, you have any good recommendations for me?

Labyrinth, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking Glass, and The Wizard of Oz (+all sequels and derivative adaptations, like The Wiz) sound like a good match. Or Spirited Away! The Where the Wild Things Are movie's a great one. Hey, Galaxy Quest!
For TV, you ever heard of The OA? Lost could work too. And if you like those two, you'll probably enjoy The Leftovers as well.
