Recurring dreams?

Had a dream for many years where Jason Vorhees would come into my house, I’d run upstairs, climb out the 2nd floor window, jump down to the ground level outside, and run down the street for help. Then once I reached the corner of my street, my legs would stop working and I couldn’t run anymore, and I’d have to drag myself with my hands on the concrete and eventually he’d catch up to me and I’d wake up right as he killed me.

Eventually I was able to control my dreams though and that was the first dream I was ever able to control. Eventually I realized I was dreaming when I had this dream for the millionth time, and when I was running down the street for help, I stopped and realized that I’ve been here before. And then I knew I was dreaming. So I stopped, turned around walked toward Jason, grabbed the machete out of his hand and killed him. Since then I’ve had this dream maybe once or twice in the last 15+ years and I probably haven’t had it in a decade.

The only other recurring dreams I get are dreams related to school. I’ll find myself back in high school. And it always starts with me getting my classes for that school year and then feeling funny like I know this doesn’t feel right. At first I didn’t know I was dreaming, but since I’ve been able to control my dreams, I realize it’s a dream, so I’ll leave school in the middle of the dream and go home because I know I won’t get in trouble since it’s a dream. I still get these dreams to this day, unlike the Jason one.

The way you describe falling and crawling is incredibly similar to how I feel when I have the reoccurring dream I mentioned above. I wonder what that is...having seen horror movies combined with sleep paralysis maybe?

I think it’s our minds not allowing us to escape a situation. Ever notice in a scary dream it’s basically impossible to escape the threat. And even in the instances where you do, it’s usually followed by another threat. Or the original threat comes back again later in the dream. But something about your mind always seems to prevent you from escaping. For example, you try to use your phone to call 911, but the numbers don’t dial properly. You try to enter a house for safety but can’t find the right key. You try to run away and your legs stop working.

Maybe our brains want us to face our fears.

It’s probably something like knowing you have to move but being unable to do so because your body usually can’t move during sleep (by “design,” sleep walking being an exception). That’s a bit different than sleep paralysis where you’re awake and still can’t move…and thats one of the most terrifying things that’s ever happened to me.

I FUCKING love dreams. My most recurring dreams:

-I find an abandoned public toilet. It's clean and in great condition, many many stalls. I can piss and shit everywherewhere in peace.

-I still live in the apartment before a relationship. It's got secret doors with rooms that have nice furniture, hallways, weird bedrooms and shit. Very exciting.

-Nightly cityscape. Driving around (don't even have a car atm), everything is chill, not many people, go into bar or restaurant, drive some more on the highways. No social anxiety or anything, 5/5 dream.

-Random DOOM (1993) maps and wads. Just some total asshole level design with pain elementals and cyberdemons in tigh corridors etc.

-ZOMBIE DREAMS. these are not nightmares, but really great adrenaline inducing dreams. Abandoned houses and apartment complexes, trying to get away or shooting them. Sometimes hiking somewhere and zombies just emerge from bushes.

-erotic dreams, these dont happen very often anymore but are like heavenly stuff and waking up is whole day ruined.

-I'm about to or just got my hands on ELDER SCROLLS 6. the dreams usually go like, it's been out for some time and I wasn't aware and when I finally get to play it, it's good, but something's just off, maybe too realistic and uncanny valley stuff.

-I'm at gym, which are always weird, for example sometimes the gym is a weird torus and walls and floors and ceiling are padded with tatamis but I have super strength and back in shape.

I forgot to mention another dream that's recurred ever since college: after a night of heavy drinking, I'll sometimes have a dream where I'm peeing and peeing but getting no relief. Until I do. That's when I wake up realizing I've pissed myself

If I could get these every night, I'd fucking sleep 24/7! The best ones are ones which some reason last a long time.

The most common ones I remember are:

- The school shit I posted above

- My teeth are loose

- I dream I'm washing and brushing my teeth before work or school. Then I wake up and fuck! That was a dream and I got to get up and do it for real. lol

- People start to disappear where I'm the only person left. If it's a lucid dream sometimes I know it's a dumb dream and even yell out "I guess I'm the only one here!"

- Sometimes get sleep paralysis. Which I found out on the net to reduce them is to sleep on your stomach with your face buried in the pillow. 100% true. I've never been in paralysis mode with half my face staring into my pillow. Every time I get it is then I'm on my back. I dont know why sleep paralysis works that way

- If there's a house involved, it's the house I grew up in. Not any house or condo I've bought on my own

- I'm playing a weird shitty game of hockey or basketball in a gym or outdoor field. But some reason I believe it's the pro leagues like I'm a pro athlete. I then wake up and think what the hell was I thinking playing floor hockey like it's the NHL. lol

I used to get dreams of tornadoe apocalypses where there are everywhere.

The was also one where there was a cross(christian) in my path, and it would rise up and make a loud sound. I would try to scream and run but couldn't. This was when i was a kid, so i don't remember much.

Nowadays I don't get many recurring dreams most are different. the other night i was a passenger in a rear wheel drive previa, and the driver didn't know how to operate it in the snow.

I do get zombie dreams every now and then that are really fun.

When I was really young I kept having this dream of running down the road outside our house and when I'd get to the side street a whole bunch of animals from the lion king would be stampeding towards me.

I'd blink really hard and wake up. That was always my out if I didn't like a dream.

Was really good at lucid dreaming around that time too. Remember more than one instance of trying to explain to people in my dream that it was a dream.
