Red Ash still on? Animated short GEARWORLD released

So since MN9 Comcept has been pretty quiet...and probably for good reason, but looks like we might see Red Ash from them soon. About a week ago it looks like a preview for the animated short kickstarter was finished and the episode was released, you can view it HERE.

I am aware that the kickstarter for the game itself failed and was then funded by a Chinese company (iirc) but even then I honestly assumed the project was dead. While I do hope that the end product is good and everything, I was burned pretty hard on MN9.

watched 5 minutes for now, looks decent and I fancy the characters and animation..

honestly I never thought I'd see anything come out of this project. I feel conflicting emotions.

The animated series Kickstarter wasn't a failing non-starter like the game KS Inafune tried to sell us.

If anyone is interested, that anime is actually part of what was called the Young Animators Project in the past few years (the one that had stuff like Little Witch Academia or Death Biliards).

Well this was a separate kickstarter from the actual game, but I'm glad that this actually isn't dead in the water at least.

Red Ash definitely should've been at the front of the charge instead of MN9, as I think it had much more potential to be more interesting and inventive than the former title while filling a niche people will aching for. Whether Comcept/whoever they're working with can deliver such a game in a similar style to Legends has yet to be seen, but the actual material there seems open enough for something good to come out of it.

Though I'd hate for such a project to be dead on arrival thanks to the former blunders, those blunders still speak volumes for any confidence in the quality of an actual finished product versus its potential.

Either way, this short's pretty neat and gives off some MML + Gunvolt vibes. I look forward to more positives from this project as a whole.

Looks like a game cutscene rendered in engine on PS4.

While the anime appears to be a real thing, is there any reason to believe that the game is actually coming out?

Looking really nice.

The staff on this is totally different so fortunately I don't think that they will really effect each other since Studio 4C is really good and does a lot of passion projects like this even on their own and like Chairmanchuck said, this joined the Young Animator Training Project following the Kickstarter for further support which is a good sign I think.

I wouldn't put any hope on the Red Ash game project, since that Chinese game publisher Fuze failed to successfully launch its game console and was folded back to its parent company LineKong.

I hope Initicreates can get the rights to this and MN9 so that we can actually get good games out of these franchises.

Oh didn't know they folded. Yeah wonder how far the project got before that happened, because I imagine they were still funded up until that point

Yes, Red Ash is still in development. Hyde, the development team working on it, still lists the game as such on their front page. http://hyde.co.jp/

And as far as I know, it's still set to appear on that Tomahawk F1 console that FUZE announced.

It's nice to see a modern day animated piece with some Megaman Legends influence. I do truly hope that Red Ash is still in development, but as a Legends fan, I ain't getting my hopes up.

Really like the character design and the setting they are placed in. There`s something unsettling with the moving animation of the characters though. It looks lik cg characters moving in stop motion. Hope this can be made into a great game that will place trust back to inafune and comcept. Their integrity is not really what I can see as ideal for now. With that said I wonder if capcom has plans with any of megaman games.

I really wish we'd know more of the game, that's my E3 hope. I still love the character designs (especially the game versions) and I hope that the game ends up great... but I won't hold my breath. Sadly I have to go out but I look forward to seen the short later.

Still don't get why they changed Call's skin color.

Didn't they make some really dumb excuse about how the game and anime are set in two different universes?

I don't believe this is a sign that the game is still coming, I mean they short got kickstarted so it's no surprise they decided to make it.

Yeah, especially since the game versions look better:

I especially like game Beck with jacket.

Beck's game design to me is a mixture of Legends and Battle Network since he has armor but is more "smooth" like BN unlike Legends bulky design.

Finally got a chance to see the video, I haven't been following the Red Ash animation since what I cared about was the game and now I'm a bit lost. I thought that this was supposed to be a 30~40 minute short movie but we got a 20 minute "preview"? Isn't that a lot? I tried to search for info but searching for Red Ash isn't the easiest thing to do, it seems the project has been expanded but I can't find by how much. Is it a full movie now? a series? If anyone knows please let me know.

As for the preview itself I really liked it. I didn't expect everyone having random powers but I do liked it and I hope it's in the game, especially Beck being able to transform his body into ash. I do wonder what concepts are shared between the game and the anime since not only do the characters look different but Call's "servbot" from the game seems to be changed to a stuffed bear on the animation and the reaverbot equivalents aren't seen.
