Reggie Asks Us: What developer would you like to see have a Nintendo franchise?

If this were the IGN Wii lobby, at least 90% of replies would have said "Bethesda and Zelda!!!".

Platinum Games + Kamiya + Zelda = WIN

They could take everything they learned while making Okami and create the perfect Zelda game.

Also, WayForward on a new 2D Metroid for DS/WiiWare.

WAYFORWARD! GET THEM TO DO STAR TROPICS!

Also, get the guy that did Star Fox 64's gameplay, and send him over to Factor 5.

Square-Enix - Super Mario RPG

Doooo it.

One more - Wario Ware is losing its edge, its maddening freshness is faded. It needs to be in the hands of a lunatic who cares not for any and all gaming conventions. Give Wario Ware to Keita Takahashi.
fixed.

I'd love to see Suda's take on a number of Nintendo properties, though.

BRING CLASSIC STARFOX BACK!

with...

Sega Panzer Dragoon Team
Treasure
Insomniac
Epic Games

Also, Team Ico and Zelda, yes.

"Nintendo Wars" series by Blizzard

The Famicom Wars series got handed off to Kuju in the Battalion Wars 2 entry on Wii.

But wouldn't mind Blizzard doing something in the same vein. They may hate working on consoles, but at least they know how to design great games while still allowing it to run on the majority of PCs.

And Star Fox to anyone but Q-Games or Namco
Super Mario RPG to Square-Enix
Hotel Dusk 2 to CiNG

ok that last one is more of a sequel request.

or Team Ico

I adore Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, but I may prefer Ancel handling this, although I'm sure both would make a stunning title.

Team Ico has made two great games, but I think Zelda's much better suited to Ancel's style than Team Ico's.

I want another F-Zero game by Sega. F-zero GX was an awesome game and I want another one :(

I don't trust Team ICO with Zelda even though I liked SoTC and excited for the Last Guardian.

In what way is a Treasure-made StarFox a bad idea?

Because the only game I can think of that they've done that would be considered the Ideal for Star Fox like, is Sin and Punishment. Which was a good game but that's 1. I really hope people aren't wanting a Radiant Silvergun (which is beyond overrated) or Ikaruga like Star Fox. Give it to a developer who has a history of making the style flying game that Star Fox is. The best idea for it is to take the guy who did the gameplay dev for Star Fox 64 and match him with Factor 5. That would be an amazing playing, and amazing looking Star Fox game, and worthy successor to the awesomeness that was Star Fox 64.

Which is also the best StarFox game on a Nintendo console since, well, StarFox 64.

I'd prefer to give Treasure the benefit of doubt in this one. Their only true stinker, imo, is Stretch Panic.

Square-Enix with Super Mario RPG (again).

Clover (RIP) with Zelda.

Mario RPG series peaked with the art & writing of TTYD. Square would do it no justice, imo.

It's actually an Artoon/Nintendo collaboration, but I was pleasantly surprised by Span Smasher. I think it has potential to be a good full game, but we'll see. The demo was only three levels.

I'm also hyped for Span Smasher, the art is gorgeous and screams classic, wacky Sega.

Why the fuck has no one put up footage of the demo> :'(

Rare on Donkey Kong

Yeah, it's super impossible...:(

:'(

Edit: Anyway for my suggestion:

Get EAD Tokyo to make a full 3D Sonic game for Wii, BUT Artoon does the character designs and art direction, complete with an Oshima redesign for Sonic and Robuttnik of course. :D

Match made in heaven right there.

Give F-Zero to SEGA
Give StarFox to Factor 5 + EAD
Give Zelda to SUDA51/Grasshopper Manufacture and Platinum Games

But really, where are all these games that Nintendo's teams have been working on?!

I'm actually pretty cool with a Star Fox skinned Sin and Punishment. It's pretty much the same game as Star Fox 64: Third Person scrolling shooter game where racking up combos gave you rewards with excellent presentation. Obviously no sword or anything like that, but it's basically the same.

How about stop farming your franchises out, Nintendo? I would like that.

Except F-Zero, which Sega should take care of from now on.

EDIT: Oh, and similarly to what is suggested above, Grasshopper and pretty much anything.

Except Sin and Punishment isn't a Star Fox game. It's Sin and Punishment and there are differences. Also Star Fox 64 > Sin n Punishment.

Also Advanced Guardian Heroes was not worthy of the name. Treasure is pretty hit or miss for me. There's a couple of their games I REALLY like and there's a bunch I find are hyped and overrated beyond belief. Giving SF to Treasure I just see another Wario World happening. Now don't get me wrong the game wasn't bad, but it wasn't amazing either, and was pretty uninspired.

I dread the unveil of F-Zero Wii. GX was so perfect in every single conceivable way. It’s the definitive F-zero game. I know Nintendo will fuck it somehow.

Why would you want the guy that made Zelda-but-worse making a Zelda game instead of Nintendo themselves? I mean BG&E was great and all but next to any of the 3d Zeldas it doesn't stand up that well.

Well, no shit, but there are reasons people consider it the spiritual successor to SF64.

Wario World always seemed to me like a weird match for them. Totally not in their usual field of work.

BGE was superior to TWW. Better music, a superior overworld, and some very clever design overall. He also designed his action-adventure game more like Nintendo's action-adventure game.

Gotta agree with Starfox to (any number of good suggestions) and another Super Mario RPG. But as much as it'd be extremely interesting to see someone else interpret the Zelda series (and there have been a number of cool suggestions), I can't imagine Team Ico or Platinum or other people being suggested getting it right - they'd do some things much better than the Zelda we're used to and some other things just plain wrong. I'd just much rather see more people try to take on that whole genre/type of game with original IPs, since it's woefully neglected apart from the Zelda games and Okami and Team Ico's beautiful minimalist interpretations of individual, selected aspects. If anything, I'd like to see Nintendo have two separate console Zelda teams so they can put out one every 2.5 years or so instead of like every 5.

I am having a hard time figuring out why the hell anyone would want a Zelda game from team ico.

There's been a lot of Zelda hate and dissatisfaction with the franchise generally. Also a seething tension between those who think this is Miyamoto's fault and those who think its Anouma being given too much freedom. I pin it down to Zelda fatigue and Anouma's eccentric designs, especially with Phantom Hourglass, which certainly did not turn out to be a portable Zelda in the way Link's Awakening channeled LLTP and in many ways surpassed it.

But the last time I put the word Eccentric and Anouma in the same sentence, it stirred the hornet's nest of the pro Anouma camp. Thankfully, not everyone think he's a god or that Miyamato can no longer design games.
