Then WHY DO THIS IN THE FIRST PLACE SON?

It's all about hype, there will be studios presenting their newest games with cutting-edge technology; we might even see fucking Fallout 4 and Mass Effect 4, how is a character reveal looking like next to them? :lol

So, what do you propose papa?:)

Α couple of trailers for X and Bayo 2, would still be cool, me thinks..

Why do you people do this to yourselves? It's obviously and beyond any shadow of doubt a DKC trailer featuring Cranky Kong.

Donkey Kong is cool and all but really? shouldn't we be getting some bigger announcements for next year stating to happen?

Donkey Kong was supposed to release this month originally + hyping it up at a dudebro-ish conference is a little lame.

Honestly hope it is X.

Because it's the VGX. Like most of the world doesn't even watch it live so even Nintendo Directs are a better place for universal announcements. Honestly if you thought this was going to be more than say Reggie giving Geoff the exclusive of Punch-Out Wii having a two player mode that no one played than you have had a bad case of eating the bad idea nuts.

I conferenced with EatChildren and I'm afraid his conclusion might make too much sense.

Nirolak: EatChildren: oh god it's really cranky kong isnt it
EatChildren: yes
EatChildren: note that Reggie said to Geoff he'd be at VGX
EatChildren: in a Donkey Kong specific episode of Game Trailers
EatChildren: THIS IS THE BIG FOLLOW UP
EatChildren: they probably filmed it on the same day

Yes this is NOA after all

It's not the same character. It's not the same content.

so another meh Reggie moment? Guess Miyamoto wants to be the one to show Zelda U at E3

first time Nintendo could have shown something at a show like this and they go with something we have seen already many times even showing off new levels just weeks ago

if they show DK they deserve the backlash

with every other game shown that night being PS4 or X1 exclusive another look at DK is really meh worthy

to be fair I am not interested in 2D platformers my next on is downloading Rayman during a slow month since Ubisoft made me wait but even my desire to play this as gone cold.

I have zero hype for Tropical Freeze I am sure it will be excellent just not what I want to play

So it's fucking Donkey Kong after all. Oh well. Disappointing, but still good to know - at least I don't have to waste hours of my short life watching this shit then.

Does Nintendo actually realize that Donkey Kong is not what they need or should push right now? Apparently not...
How did "new look at" make it not be bayo 2, smash, Mario kart? It basically just means it's not zelda, right?

I don't understand this thread, someone surmise?

Can't wrap my head around what's real or not in the hyperbole storm.

The only real anti-DKC evidence I can think of is that they already did a thing with Spike with Donkey Kong less than a month ago, and that they're not saying the name of the game in the press release.

I'd like to think that "general common sense on Nintendo's part" would be another one, but yeah

They revealed Dark Souls 2, The Last Of Us and Skyrim at the VGAs, and those latter two did exceptionally well both review- and sales-wise; it's a good place to announce high-profile stuff, and new footage from X would be world better than Cranky Kong shaking his butt in front of the audience

Hoping for Bayo....

but its probably DKC lol

Is it really that bad when you're talking about the two most promising games of next year?

Of course, it's not like we need any more footage. A release date is all I'm looking for on those titles. If Reggie doesn't have a new title to share, I would hope at least has a date for something at a minimum.

Now if those things panned out and WiiU sold like hoecakes would you be praising Nintendo? No one even cares about the decision they made with the original Wii that helped sell 100 million console. My point is it is easy to look back in hindsight and say look at their terrible decision they suck.

Things panned out in 2008 and the Wii sold like hotcakes, but it didn't change the fact that it was bad form for them to market Animal Crossing as their E3 2008 "holiday game for the core."

I'm not really sure what your argument is.

DKCTF is a game I'm very excited to play but in no way excited to see more about. We should be playing the damn game right now!

Exactly. We already know enough about this game, I want to see more X and Bayo2. The Only thing they are yet to announce is the actual release date and whether they are going to screw PAL gamers or not.

Are we worried Cranky Kong telling the audience that their games are all fluff and no content and that Pacman on the Atari 2600 has better graphics than Killzone will ruffle some feathers?

Remembering that Tropical Freeze had a december release before it got delayed tells me one thing

Luigi is in the game
They delayed it before 2014 marks 20 years since DKC so now they can celebrate the year of Donkey Kong.

Uh, most people seem to be speculating that Tropical Freeze is the game Reggie is going to be showing off along with the secret 4th character who has probably already been leaked by Amazon to be Cranky Kong. It makes the most sense too, the game is only 2ish months away I think compared to much more farther away games.

Which is why I'm thinking it's either Bayo 2 or Smash at this point. I will eat my invisible hat if it's anything related to DKCTP

-Reggie will appear
-Apparently he will give a new look on an upcoming WiiU game (=/= a new game)
-Yesterday the cover art for DKC leaked with a "surprise" character on it (Cranky Kong)
-Reggie said he would appear, when he was at GT talking about DKC:TF
-EatChildren seems to think he knows it will be Fucking Donkey Kong
-Nobody, except BGBW and Zalman, wants to see Donkey Kong
-Everybody, myself included, except BGBW and Zalman, is still pissed DKC:TF turned out to be Retro's next big game

Geoff mentioned the VGX to Reggie during a GameTrailers whatever show (they were showing off DKC:TF), and Reggie teased that Nintendo might have something there (Nintendo has never been to the VGAs before).

Geoff confirmed on Twitter that Reggie would be making an appearance.

People wonder what Nintendo could show off at an American games award show for their first appearance, and speculate that due to the audience it will be something core-focused like Smash, X, or Bayonetta 2, with some people even trying to argue for a Zelda announcement.

Amazon posted the final box art to DKC: Tropical Freeze, showing off the fourth playable character that was mentioned but kept secret back when the game was announced (it's Cranky Kong).

The VGX press release says that Reggie will be showing a "new look at an upcoming game."

People are now terrified that Reggie's "new look at an upcoming game" will be yet another DKC trailer after we already got new footage last month, only this time the "big reveal" will be the official confirmation of Cranky Kong. I.e., Nintendo's announcement on live television in front of the core audience will be the fanservicey reveal of an old man gorilla in a 2D platformer.

But does NCL know about this, or care?

They're the ones making the decision here. And I cannot think of too many times they've ever given the western media an exclusive look at anything (maybe Game Informer and Skyward Sword?).

Reggie is going to show something at VGX. Everyone is speculating on what it could be. Everyone is either convinced that it's DKC TP trailer or has hyped themselves to believe it's something else such as Zelda, Bayo 2 or X. It's just a mess at this point with a bunch of useless arguments.

nailed all my feels

Any decision looks bad when it doesn't work out. A coach going for it on 4th and 10 looks crazy until the trick play works out and the team gets a 30 yard gain.

There's an off-chances that a Hail Mary will work, but it's not wrong to criticize some decisions that are generally not appropriate for the circumstances.

These include:
-E3 2008 Having nothing major for the core gamer to show, but then having the audacity to claim that Animal Crossing was their holiday game for the core.
-E3 2012 The over-emphasis on explaining immediately obvious Nintendoland minigames and the parting shot being bunch of in-game fireworks.

There are others, including the general boring nature of their 2009, 2011, and 2013 pressers, but those two didn't really ever have the possibility of going over well, even if the games themselves had been successful.

Nintendo's announcement on live television in front of the core audience will be the fanservicey reveal of an old man gorilla in a 2D platformer.
To be fair if it wasn't for that old man gorilla and his arcade game videogames wouldn't exist and everyone in the audience would be stuck at home eating macaroni cheese because they'd have no jobs. This is totally true facts streets of LA.

-Everybody, myself included, is still pissed DKC:TF turned out to be Retro's next big game
Please stop speaking on my behalf.

My sides :')

I think a lot of people have overstated the VGA/X's importance. Skyrim was the sequel to Oblivion and had hella commercials and marketing...I'm not sure the VGA helped that much. TLOU was from ND and also was marketed heavily and was praised loudly by all who played it and the press.

I think that has a lot more to do with their success than anything.

I'm not saying it wouldn't help to say show off X here because it would be great IMO, but lets not act like the VGA's are some e3 level stuff because it's not.

In my eyes, anything that isn't a new game is downright unacceptable. Nintendo can advertise these games anywhere, why waste the VGX's on a trailer?

Pretty much, yeah... : (
