Am I praising Assassin's Creed or COD? I got bored with them within 2-3 games. People complain all the time about these yearly rehashes. However, the systems those games are on feature plenty of other quality experiences.

Those experiences will pale in comparison to the quality of most Nintendo releases, that's the problem. I don't play games because they can be artsy or 'different' when their mechanics or substance is pure shit. Nintendo is one of the only companies that manages to release interesting and imaginative games while also innovating on a raw mechanics level and yes, making graphically impressive titles from time to time. It sucks their hardware is bad these days, but stuff like Mario Galaxy is still a generation defining title despite the fact it's not 'new', it will be remembered for years for what it accomplished, the same won't be said for Fez or Zoo tycoon, or whatever else is coming to the Ps4/Xbone in the first year.

I do most of my gaming on the 360 because that's where the volume of titles releases (or ps3, whatever your flavor) but Nintendo releases are often the best of the best, they just don't happen enough and their systems are pretty barren otherwise. It didn't help the wiimote basically handicapped a lot of games for the whole generation. If you hate Nintendo games fine, though i'll never understand how people who supposedly love video games can hate their output as they still make the best actual games today, but have greatly fallen behind the 'hold up to EPICCCC' cinematic games or the 'sorry our game doesn't work after 5 patches' style of games today. I sure hope another 8 bit indie title is on the way though, that certainly is a lot more enjoyable than that tired Donkey Kong Country series that just was revived a few years ago and is totally tired and dull.

whats the over/under on the number of months it takes for both the PS4 and the Xbone to catch up and pass the Wii U in sales??...

Meh on that Reggie...

That's the funniest part. He just said meh to Ubisoft, EA, and Activision. And people wonder why Wii U still doesn't get third party support. And before people jump at me with, "it was probably just a PR line he had to say," that makes it so much worse! That means the official Nintendo statement on major third party supporters is 'meh'. Definitely not the smartest thing to say for someone in his position.

I wasn't aware, that Ubisoft and Activison didn't also have games coming to the Wii U this fall. lol

Nintendo guy says Nintendo is great, and other systems are not as good

GAF goes into frenzy, damn I swear before NeoGAF wasn't this bad, no one would fall for click bait quotes.

Eh, the launch lineups for both consoles are pretty shitty, I don't think he's wrong. The drought was terrible and I hated it but I mean, there's 6 retail games on the Wii U I still want to buy this year. I can't think of 6 total things announced for both of the new consoles combined that I really want. But I'm not probably the typical consumer they're aiming for, and I'm going to buy a PS4 anyway, so my opinion probably doesn't matter.

The problem with Reggie's argument is that, for a console with a healthy ecosystem, launch lineups are only the start. PS4 and Xbone's launch lineups might not be that strong (although, I think both are miles better than the Wii U's own launch), but does anybody think that either console will be scraping by with only meaningful 1st party support by this time next year like the Wii U? Hardly.

If we narrow our field of vision to JUST the launches, Reggie might have a point. But it's the perceived viability of the software ecosystem over time that will inform most people's purchases at the end of the day, and Nintendo with the Wii U is up shit creek in that regard.

If you never played a single game this entire generation perhaps

seriously WHAT GAMES do people play on consoles that approach this? Last of Us and Uncharted 2/3 are probably the best looking games of the generation on consoles, alongside the God of War title, and they don't even come close to doing some of the effects on display in Killzone. And just forget about even comparing the image quality. Last of Us looks like it was passed through a fucking salt grinder it's so fucking jaggy.

The texture quality, the effects on display, the amount of geometry... seriously, I want people's magic consoles.

My eyes are pretty terrible, but you'd have to be completely fucking BLIND to not notice a difference between Shadow Fall and something on the PS3.

The fact that all they basically have is Mario games, Zelda games, and Donkey Kong games is why I'm skipping WiiU. I'm tired of Nintendo franchises.

Ask "Media Crate", The game sold only 5000 copies + the Wii U ended up with 7000 units last week.

Reggie's W101 didn't even help to maintain the 10k units per week lol.

Has nothing to do with the quality of the title.

You should check out what gamers here think of the game in its thread.

Y know, it's all about the games, but next gen games are automatically a lot more appealing to me because they look so much better.

I honestly don't see anything blowing away shit I've seen on high end PCs.
What appeals to me are good games. What makes me buy systems are good exclusives. The pursuit of the latest eye porn tech is one for PC gamers
or console gamers that ignore the fact that consoles start aging as soon as they launch.

Meh I'll have a PS4 with games I actually want.

The graphics are pretty awesome. I will not buy it because it is killzone and I refuse to be fooled into buying a game from these guys again.

Just want to repost this post I made.

I did not like any of the Killzone series (except that one PSP game, which played nothing like a Killzone game), but Shadow Fall is not like the rest of the Killzone series. It's different in pretty much every significant way. Which is not to say you should trust Guerrilla Games will deliver - I certainly don't - but that it's not simply "Killzone." It's something drastically evolved.

Please be excited.

We have half-ass Mario, old Zelda and Mario Kart! (In 2014)

Also, $300 is still suicide this holiday for Wii U.

Reggie is just saying he hates 3rd parties.

3rd party titles
PS4:
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Is coming for Wii U as well
Battlefield 4
Call of Duty: Ghosts Is coming for Wii U as well
Driveclub not a 3rd party title
FIFA 14
Just Dance 2014 Is coming for Wii U as well
Killzone: Shadow Fall not a 3rd party title
Knack not a 3rd party title
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Is coming for Wii U as well
Madden NFL 25
NBA 2K14
NBA LIVE
Need for Speed: Rivals
Skylanders: Swap Force Is coming for Wii U as well
Watch Dogs Is coming for Wii U as well

Most major 3rd Parties are on Wii U as well. You forgot Batman Arkam Origins, which is also coming to Wii U, Splinter Cell Blacklist, which is already out on Wii U.

Especially on GAF people should definitely check everyons games line-up more thouroughly before making ridiculous claims and comparing them.

Honestly, I am looking forward the WiiU lineup more and I am getting the PS4 at launch. I can safely say that the experiences I'll be playing on the WiiU will feel more fresh and unique to me than the experiences on the PS4. But hey, I'll happily enjoy both. I'm excited for the rest of the year gamewise in general and most of those titles do indeed happen to be on the WiiU.
Yeah, this is exactly how I feel. I've been hugely critical of Nintendo, but I gotta hand it to'em. The Wii U is rapidly going from joke status to being seriously awesome.

But... your opening statement, and rest of your post, for that matter, is completely subjective. There's no intrinsic right/wrong on this issue, unless PS4/XB1 were only pushing shovelware, which is not the case.

I'm all about PS4, as soon as Infamous comes out.

Reggie's point is technically sound, but if the statement was meant to totally discount those machines, it's foolish. Donkey Kong, Mario and Zelda are huge to me...but they had me already. How are they going to get the average user who don't care about those titles on board?

They still are on PS, the difference is that they are multiplatform now and those that didn't sell continuous didn't continue which is my point in the first place.
Nintendo's legacy is simply having introduced the first recognizable characters in videogames, as such when people think back they get all dough eyed and nostalgic.

If Mario launched as a new IP today it wouldn't sell all that amazingly and Nintendo know this, so they're stuck making Zelda and Mario games with all possibilities if new franchises being drop kicked every time they try and the sales are poor.

Imagine if Sega tried to make a new platformer franchise without sonic, that would sell well *sarcasm*

We have reached a point now where Nintendo's key franchises are genuinely burning out on hone consoles , over the next 5-8 years were going to see them change a lot or disappear.
The reason for this is that kids are increasingly less attracted to the characters that make the game and the generation that grew up with the original Mario are now middle-aged and getting on with their lives

Well if someone knows a meh lineup I guess it is him. Glad I disagree but maybe that's why the wiiu was the first nintendo console I haven't had at launch.
