Rematch |OT| It’s like Rocket League, with Feet

I really wish this was a clean, more feature complete and bug free release. It's successful so far, but there wouldn't be any question about its longevity. It's a fantastic creative shot in the arm for sports games and desperately needed after almost 15 years of total malaise from the established franchises. I'm not even into the genre like that, but remembering the fun behind FIFA Street on the PS2 makes me disgusted with where it is now.

My thoughts after a few hours:

- Superb gameplay, it feels sticky, crunchy and satisfying.
- Oddly barebones, they should have put in some more stuff, like penalty competitions or single player options.
- Microtransactions are aggressive, with paid customization options you barely see.
- Crashed 3 times.
- Smart how the guy closest to goal automatically becomes the keeper.
- Fast and slick to get into matches.
- Annoying with players who runs out when they are assigned the keeper.
- It is super nice to not have to worry about throws and corners. It's fast and engaging.

3v3 is surprisingly fun. I think the field size is smaller in 3v3?
Unsure on that but would make sense. More time on the ball with the 3v3 gives me time to think rather than just panicking all the time lol.

Also I'm very bad in nets.

Passed the tutorial, which felt good to play.

Enter the game, and its GAAS plastered all over it.

Exit and deleted from harddisk.

How? There is a battle pass and microtransactions, but they are for cosmetics.
I have played for over 10 hours and have not spent a dime.

Anybody has problem with no in match sound when using a Bluetooth headphone? There is sound when I'm at the menu or waiting for match, but not in the match.
This is 1 reason I stopped using Bluetooth headphones on PC sadly. Some games just don't like them. Sometimes the game switches to the mic output and either mutes the sound completely or makes its so the sound seems like it is coming from a room downstairs.

A temporary fix was to either switch audio output, disable the mic in Windows, or sometimes turning off voice chat in-game worked, but either restarting the game or your PC made it reset the changes so you had to do it again.

There were some games, I think Battlefield was 1, were nothing worked and the audio was just busted, so I had to either use the headphones wired or use the Dualsense headphone connection.

I apologize for sounding rude in my previous post, that was not my intention. But I was seriously bummed out going into the game after the tutorial, and seeing the usual battle pass and skins in yet another game. Thats all. I really wanted to get into it.

DAMN! Any tips for a Gold 2 player trying to get further?

Git gud? Just kidding you copy pasta. I play with my friends full team so that helps too

Also find you a position you're comfortable with. It can be missionary or doggystyle. Just fucking around 🤣 I play as the main striker for the team cause out of the lot I'm the best one. I can drop to midfield and start playmaking as a second position. We rotate keepers since we still didn't decide who's our main keeper and we already got two fixed defenders

Really enjoyed playing 3v3 last night, can see how the moment to moment gameplay can hook you. Need to get better at my fundamentals but I can see the vision of great this could be with skilled players playing on tight teams competitively. Would be a very fun esports to watch.

It should be free with crossplay though, on gamepass and in as many places as possible. Poor distribution might kill this thing.

I don't see why a battle pass with skins and the like would stop you from getting into this game. I didn't even know it had one until you pointed it out.

Does it have crossplay? I want one of my mates to play but he is on console. I need to build a team with footballheads.
Not yet unfortunately

Crossplay Update

We understand many of you were looking forward to playing Rematch across platforms from day one. We did our utmost to include crossplay at launch, but Rematch is the studio's first crossplay title, and we faced unforeseen technical complexities which prevented us from having this feature ready in time. We should have communicated as soon as it became apparent that crossplay wouldn't be available at launch, and we're sorry for the inconvenience and frustration it caused to some of our players.

It's very important for us that our players are able to enjoy Rematch with their friends, so along with bugfixes, crossplay is our absolute highest priority, we're committed to delivering this feature swiftly, and we'll share a more precise deadline as soon as possible. We already have a basic working version from a technical standpoint, but we need to implement the relevant interfaces, before debugging and polishing it, and finally passing console certifications successfully - all this takes time but we are doing our best to move forward quickly.

Cool, then now I know when I'll get it. Crossplay for a game like this feels like a must in this day and age.

I'm starting to accept my roll in this game - GK / Sweeper / Playmaker.

I'm a little better at shooting but the amount of times I mess up a shooting chance is still pretty high.

My Attack efficiency was at a mere 28%. Bumped this to 50% playing more like Xavi rather than Messi.

Did some rank matches and ended up in Gold 2.

I'm stuck in silver elo hell already.

I have nothing but losses upon losses lol. I think I win maybe 1 out of ever 5 games. Think I will just stick to 3v3 for now and at least work on my own game a bit.

I'm pretty close to grabbing this, but the chatter is that this is barebones for $30 and full of microtransactions.

Also, heard that the ranking system is completely flawed: matchmaking doesn't pair you with players of similar skill. Is this overblown by chance? Because, I usually don't listen to people's opinions.

I just don't want to get matched against a full stack of 300+hours players and my team would have 80% newbies.

This game looks really fun and a breath of fresh air over FIFA The Gambling Machine.

My matches have been pretty even in ranked. The game doesn't show the ranks of other players though.

It is bare bones. If you like the basic game mechanics though it doesn't matter in the short run.

The biggest issue for me currently is the lag and desync issues. It sucks to lose a ranked match because the ball flies straight through your character while being the goal keeper.

I was desynced for an entire match last night which was frustrating, but otherwise am continuing to have a blast. There's a great balance of pace and I feel myself getting better every time I jump in. Sometimes matchmaking can take too long for 3v3. Will probably keep grinding it out in quickplay for a week or so before jumping into ranked.

Its bare bones, but at the end of the day its an arcade game of 5 aside footy. With a ranked mode. Plays well enough, MTX are not an issue in my experience.

Would be great with a few mates I think but sadly crossplay is in the post, so I've yet to fully commit without a group.

You can to alot worse than this game these days.

I've spent a lot of time playing this and am really enjoying it. My only complaint is that the passing with X(xbox controller) could be better. I'd rather the pass go to where I'm looking as opposed to where the left stick is pointed. It's pretty easy to struggle with placement of the pass because of that

What rank are you? I'm finding the more you play the less this becomes an issue, but maybe I'm just lucky.
Still a 'newbie'. But I'm finding it hard to stick with due to folk just trying to solo all the time. I'll persevere a little longer to see if the play improves.

I like that it's barebones, just master one thing and sell it.

This is multiplayer only? I HAVE TO play with someone? Cant face the computer?

Not sure what ranked is like but casual mode is just rainbow kick after rainbow kick followed by using the wall behind the goal box as a huge backboard. Hope they change something soon.
