Rematch had 1M players in the first 24 hours

Could I get to like this even if I'm not into football at all?

I should mention that I did dig MegaMan Soccer as a kid, don't know if that affects the answer or not.

The key is when you really start to get good at defense, it's so satisfying. You have to really use a lot more patience and only hit B when you think you can actually hit the intercept. I played hours of this in a row yesterday to the point I started to feel a little sick by 10pm. Literally played games all damn day long between FBC and Rematch.

This any good?

Doesn't seem any decent reviews around.

Edit. Found this one, seems to be one to jump into in a year or so. Promising but very bare bones apparently.

Why is there a woman and a man in that picture on the same team? I thought mens sports were seperate?

Why did you just assume gender?

I did yeah, played it for a bit with the wife and daughter, but not more than ten matches. That kind of game loop is cool to me, and I respect it, but it never holds me if ya know what I mean.

It is structurally very similar to Rocket League but with dribbling mechanics and such. I like it a lot but YMMV.

In all seriousness, is it a buy?

(non gamepass heathen here)
I don't like telling anyone to spend money and I never really do that. I can imagine a scenario really easily where someone thinks differently than me on this, doesn't find enough single player content or modes to feel worth it. I can imagine someone into more complex stuff like FIFA finding this too simple, or poor netcode, etc.

For me? I love this game and it's probably my favorite sports game in 25 years. Straight crack. I will definitely buy it eventually on sale. It's very simple, but that's honestly the game's strength. It's arcade sports in the best way. Games are fast and as soon as its done you can regroup again and jump into the next game, over and over again. I don't play any sports games seriously, so keep that in mind. You only control 1 person and are entirely dependent on your teammates being slightly capable. There's really just the 1 mode and a couple tutorial challenges. But I played match after match all afternoon and evening, and can't wait to play again.

If you decide to get it, I hope you enjoy it. Took me playing the practice, then playing multiple matches, then going back to practice to polish up. Then played tons more. Now I want to go back to practice again. If that sounds fun to you, you might like it.

Thanks for the opinion, think ill give it a go, looks like something I'd play.

Need something decent for the weekend.

I played the server test demo thing and ended up really liking it. I bought the game for only about £16 on cdkeys, so its not too much of a risk.

It is different than a normal football game, especially with shooting being tied to where the camera is pointed vs where you point the analog stick to, but you can used to it after a few matches. Weirdly, defending/ goalkeeping is my favourite position.

Is this more gaas?

Looks like fortnite. Not the target audience for this type of sports game (love me wii-sports, switch sports, bowling, hot shot golf, and NES rbi and basewars)

Some one compared it to rocket league. I liked rocket league when it was called "Super Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Hyper active Battle-Cars" or something like that, back on the ps3. As it was a niche title and new.

This looks more like regular soccer in fortnite with man bun players.

It's Rocket League with people instead of vehicles, just like Rocket League was Fifa Streets with vehicles instead of people.

Gameplay has nothing in common with Fortnite.

Yes, it will be a live service game
Additionally, Rematch will be a premium game (not free-to-play) but with seasonal content inspired by real football to add game modes, events, features, and cosmetics for both players and stadiums.

But there'll be an offline mode sometime next year. But seeing as they struggled to get crossplay ready for launch, hard to say if they'll get that ready for 2026 at this point.
