Remembering Ryan Davis, 1979 - 2013

It hurts, but he deserves to be remembered.

Agreed. He seemed like a pretty stellar guy. A great entertainer to be sure. It will be sad to not have him at E3 just how it is sad not to have him in general.

That said I hope the thread title doesn't mire the intent of the person that bumped this. I think he meant well.

It's always super sad when this thread hits the front page. Makes sense though with E3 and Giant Bomb's coverage of the event coming up, I almost look forward to a week of Giant Bomb every night more than the event itself.

RIP Ryan

Giant Bomb's night shows have been the best part of E3 for the last few years for sure.

Should probably change the thread title. The anniversary if his passing is soon. If people want to post in the thread they shouldn't have to worry about anything.

I atill haven't listened to GB since he passed, and since WC went off a few months ago, I haven't listened to any podcasts in forever.

RIP Ryan.

I stumbled upon GB while looking for a gaming podcast for my commute. I started listening in September, so a couple months after his passing.

I listened, week by week, all the way to the memorial bombcast they did the week after. I haven't the heart to go any further...

Didn't like Giant Bomb all that much, but still sucks. Dude seemed pretty damn cool when I could watch their quick looks.
Holy hell, this happened last year. Damn. Sucks no less though.

I still think about Ryan a lot, I tend to go back and watch some old GB videos so I see him a lot. He really was someone special and I'll never forget him.

I swear the only people (whom I've never met) that made me cry when they passed were Micheal Jackson and Ryan Davis. And to this day I still do (sometimes in anger) because they are not here. Hope they are somewhere chillin together in heaven. I could so see that :)

Man, it really bums me out how he passed. It's such a simple thing that could have been prevented. Fuck man. Fuck.

I didn't realize it when he was there but Ryan was/is my favorite Giant Bomb member. He brought everything together. He was the glue. He will be missed but he is now a legend.

Why would you bump this thread? :(

I'm sorry guys,

I did it with the best of intentions, his one year was coming up and thought of him.

Has anyone contacted an online mod for a title change or something?

I just thought it would have been best to keep it in this thread. I apologize.

I don't think anyone is actually upset that you bumped it. Just bummed that we were reminded.

I think someone sent a message to Evilore but maybe someone could send something to another Mod.

This is what I want to say to the guy who bumped this thread. :(

Every time I see the headline it's a little shock to my system. I think of Ryan every time I listen to the Bombcast.

I wasn't around these parts when this was first posted, and this is the first I've seen of it.

34 is no age. See you on the flipside, young man.

It's crazy how this still hurts as much as the day I found out. Always think about him when the Bombcast rolls around...

I know what mean. Without Ryan's presence and snarky humor it's just not the same.

RIP Duder.

The site and crew have had the wind sucked out of them the past year. The guy left a major hole and with scoops and now Vinny leaving SF it is essentially Jeff and Drew.

Goddamn, still such a bummer. Only time I've ever cried for someone dying who I wasn't related to. Definitely cut down listening to the bombcast since then, but I'm working my way through what I've missed recently.

Well anyways, RIP Ryan. Love ya, buddy.

I never really followed Giantbomb and their podcasts. But I would like to listen to a few of them of Ryan, are there certain "must watch or listen"?

Ryan was so great - once I get that sad feeling out of me, I'm going to marathon all the TANG episodes. Such good stuff, he's so damn snarky :)

Also, Persona 4 Endurance run character name "Charlie" was Ryan's pick IIRC - Vinny came up with Tunoku but I'm pretty sure it's Ryan shouting in the background to name the MC "Charlie".

I still think of Ryan every once in a while. I often think about what his reaction would be to stuff like Microsoft's 180s and such. He was an immense personality that will never be duplicated. Even if it was for a couple of minutes I was so glad I got to say hi at PAX Prime 2010 and shake his hand. And I was even more delighted when he called people who watch the Persona 4 Endurance Run "lunatics" after I told him I loved the videos. Ryan being Ryan, man. Gotta love that dude.

Looking back even to his Gamespot days I think Ryan's taste in games was almost identical to mine, right down to championing stuff like Rayman 2 or Nuts & Bolts I don't think other people care much for nowadays. Not sure if I got the chance to say it here last year but it was a damn shame when he passed away.

Didn't the 180 happened around after e3,but maybe there was not a podcast for a while i think right?
