Reminder, the only way to get the12 month xbox live gold is from retail stores. MS still doesnt have the yearly option on their store.

This is scummy move to promote gamepass. You cant take the ability to buy these cards from the consumers. That is outright shit.

Also, this would affect gamepass conversion, if MS stops printing these cards. So you are basically out of luck, if the retail cards dont get enough of these cards.

Or you just get it off Amazon and apply the code.

Not sure what the outrage here is

Er, weird topic.

12 month gold has not been available via xbox.com for a few years now.

You can still get it from Amazon, New Egg, CDKeys and a whole host of other retailers still.

Less reactionary threads please.

That is the problem. You need 3rd party for these cards. You cant get it from their store.

I don't see the problem here. Amazon is the biggest retailer on the planet, more people probably buy Xbox codes and games from there than Xbox.com

Why the hell would you want to buy from Xbox.com anyway. The one year gold cards go onsale every year for like 39.99 and you can find it below retail at a bunch of places usually.

MS has never been the sole source for their retail products like games and Xbox Live. Going digital doesn't mean you for forced to pay whatever MS is charging. It's great to have options.

If Microsoft stopped supplying codes to retailers for 12 months XBLG we'd probably have them expired by now or it would have been reported (similar to PSNow cards being removed from retail stores). Who cares.

this could actually be a way for Microsoft to entice retailers to still sell their consoles.

remember how GameStop basically said they will not sell Xbox consoles anymore if they block used game sales?

only selling 12 month cards (the most desirable ones) through retailers might be purely a move to keep them happy

Not a weird topic. MS has been winding down 12-months cards. The inventory you now see with these retailers is dwindling.

Soon that won't be an option, which would essentially increased the XBLG price to at least $100 (if you buy quarterly) or $120 (if you buy monthly).

Edit: And as kingfey kingfey said, I don't have Amazon in my country so I have to pay premium to local retailers anytime I need to buy 12-months XBLG. And it's also way less convenient than just buying from the XBLG store.

I never kept track whats online since I always buy my annual sub plans at stores for cheaper. Checking online for MS Canada, it looks like they only sell 3 or 6 month Gold plans.

I got my 3 years of annual gold ready to go as soon as my sub is over later in the fall. Then going to activate them all and do GP 1 month upgrade fee.
