Renegade Ops |OT| PC lesser race finally joins in the battle against oppression

Pretty sure that it's online co-op where everyone gets ranked from best to worst player. Sort of like New Super Mario Bros for the Wii. I played a networked version of that at E3. Unless that mode is LAN only, which is possible, but extremely unlikely.

Lets hope so. Doing a steam four pack would be kind of dumb if it weren't.

I just got home and I'm about to download this baby. File is huge..which means it'll take hours to finish downloading with my shitty connection. lol

Took almost two hours for me...I assume the demo is the same as the actual game.

Tried the demo. It was somewhat fun. I felt like I had to wrestle with the directional controls. The controls are too loose maybe?

Don't worry, I'll vouch for them.

So you are still playing the campaign, it is just that each player is ranked by the score at the end of the level? Wonder if you still earn levels, shields, etc.

Game's pretty fucking hard on normal. Really loving the openness of it.

No issues with controls at all.

Don't like the random missions with the timer on the bottom. I hated timed bullshit in games.

Also wish the map was a little more detailed. Not a fan of the in-game metroidvania thing.

My download JUST finished. PSN is so fucking slow tonight.

Edit: Installation took it's tme and after it was done...I boot up the game and guess what? A 71 MB update. Omg :lol

Seraphis Cain

bad gameplay lol
Agreeing with the previous comment about controls feeling off. I never really felt like I had complete control over the vehicle. Always fishtailing and such.

Also don't like the timed missions either. Timed shit really is my least favorite thing in games, aside from maybe escort missions.

Game's not bad, but unfortunately I'm not sure I'm ready to shell out $12 for it. Especially with Dark Souls and KOF XIII both on the horizon.

Plus the game's size is a downside for me, as well. 2.5GB when I've got less than 20GB remaining? Yeah...Isn't this pretty much the biggest non-retail PSN game, though? I thought Lara Croft was the biggest before this, and that was definitely under 2GB.

This game is tough. I'm playing it on Normal and getting my ass whooped lol. But it's the good kind of tough, IMO. Game is really fun so far...I was so close to completing the first mission, but died at the end of it hahaha. One complaint so far is that you can't skip the mini cutscenes which is annoying...I've replayed the first mission like 3 times and there's no option to skip them. They're very short, but doesn't mean it can't be annoying. The car handling seems OK so far. There's times where you'll lose control especially if you use the boost, but its not a deal breaker for me. Haven't tried the online yet...but single player wise it's a lot of fun and it looks great. The leveling up is good too and you can buy upgrades with the points you receive.

Edit: Regarding the timer...I have no problems with it. You have more than enough time to clear the other side objectives and still reach your main objective with the time that's provided. I can see why people may not like it though, but I digg it cuz it puts a little bit of pressure.

I liked it but also agree that the controls feels a little off. I think its because maybe its not bouncy enough. Usually with games like this you don't come to a near dead stop if you run into something. You should almost be bouncing off the edges of whatever you run into.

This game is fun as hell. Just did the 1st two missions with Diz, the emp girl.

Timer missions are ntohing, you have so much time and the 2nd mission only had one timer mission and of the 3 mins it gave me I finished with 2 min remaining. You have to be real bad to fail them.

I like the controls just fine, took a short while to get used to but it has moves quite nice and has no problems except when I had to take down tanks in the 1st mission and tried circle strafing in narrow pathways. Otherwise, they feel good.

I didnt find the game tough so far especially when I upgraded the def tree first to get more health pack drops and up my armor. I would suggest that first as it also gives a good xp gain because you get more points for collecting health packs.

The online I tried once, got into a lobby and everyone had readied but the game wouldn't start. So I said fuck it and went to SP.

Cant stress how much fun I was having, I wanted to just try it out but ended up doing another mission because it felt like a goddam modern Jackal game.

I found it tough cuz I'm starting with the girl who does the airstrikes. There's no upgrade for her to increase the amount of health drops, ha. I kind of got used to the controls and finished the first mission dying...twice, I think.

lol I guessed I picked up the right character then. I mainly picked her because she reminded me of the Baroness.

Gonna try out the MP tomorrow, if any gaffers have this and want to try it out with me. PSN Edgeward34

Im in the west coast, so I'll hop on like around 7:30

Why does the XBLA version come out a week later ? I thought MS had a policy that didnt allow that kind of unfair behaviour.
I would have bought it if it came out today, but next week I will be to busy playing gears and after that I will completely have forgotten that this game even exists.

Just went through the first two missions with Diz (EMP). Took almost an hour, any idea how many missions there are?

It's really quite fun and more engaging than most dual stick shooters. Love the cornball over the top 80s-ness of the whole thing and the comic cutscenes. Upgrades are nice, but it makes me think I'll do the entire game with one character. Unless maybe EXP ramps up as you go? In which case I might level another one.

Renegade Ops is up on the XBox 360 right now. It could end up on Steam too in a few hours.

Ah shit, now decision time...XBLA and play on a big screen with friends or Steam and have better graphics but play online.

Arg!

Awesome, I pre-ordered it on GMG and was hoping it wouldn't be a timed exclusive for PSN. Can't wait to play it.

I wasn't too interested in this until I saw the Giant Bomb quick look. Downloading the trial on my 360 now. Just Cause 2 is one of my favorite games and when I first heard about this I thought it was a baffling direction for Avalanche to go in. Hope to be proven wrong!

I don't have a capable PC for maybe five more days.

played the demo and had fun. waiting for impressions though. im curious how repetitive it gets and if you can play campaign co-op online, it made it sound like you couldn't which would be really disappointing

Just tried the PSN Trial and was surprised at how fun it was. Was also very surprised that it's running in almost-rock-solid 60 fps, woo! I wonder about two things; if the game gets repetitive as it goes on and how the PS3 version actually stacks up compared to the 360/PC versions.

played both trial versions and the 360 version looks sharper. however, the 360 version suffers from micro stutter. ps3 demo runs smoother.

The more you play, the better the missions get. I stopped at the 4th mission yesterday. Those secondary objectives are awesome because they take a while to complete. I was going to do an online game too, but there was only one game someone was hosting and it was mission 9...didn't try it because I didn't want to have the area spoiled. I'm over level 20 with Roxie. Game makes you feel like a complete fucking badass destroying everything especially with Roxie's airstrike. <3

Amazing game!

Is it confirmed that campaign co op is only available locally? No co op over PSN?
We still don't know. We just need someone to try online and confirm it, but so far no confirmation though it is likely that there IS campaign co-op online.

you don't have a big screen for pc? tsk tsk.

If you count a 23" widescreen as big then I guess lol.

I have a 40" sitting in the living room. Much bigger

This game begs to be played with a friend. I really hope co op over PSN is available!

Bought.
Graphics on xbla were sharper for me plus I had some points to spare. Too bad there are some audio bugs on the 360. Hope Avalanche will fix those.
