Report: Trump's call to Mexican president was done in humiliating and threatening way

Phhh naw. I can't wait to earn $50 an hour picking heads of lettuce. America is great again!

I mean seriously can you imagine the Phoenix-Metro area sans illegal immigrants?

Lighter rush hours
Less crowded Home Depots
Guadalupe bulldozed for a Trump Hotel
$400 Carne Asada plates at Filiberto's

I hope the Mexican president calls him out on his bluff. Messing with trade will just increase costs on the american people and lower Trump support once their grocery bills go up.

Can you imagine him having a conversation like this with Xi Jinping? I noticed he has stayed relatively quiet on China since being sworn in.

I find this hard to believe. If it was true, and he acts aggressively in any way towards Mexico, he's going to f*ck things up for republican states who depends on the trade with Mexico. Can't see the congress putting up with that, no matter how much we think they have rolled over so far.

Yeah but think of the loss of jobs. All those fine police officers let go because they longer are needed for profiling Latinos.

Eh, they can always move to find police work in a Black community I guess.

It is so weird that America is the bad guy now.

This both goes against and supports every great 80s movie on the future.

If there's one thing that's going to speed up the start of a European Army, it's Donald Trump starting wars with America's allies.

Probably how Steve Rogers is feeling about now.

He only talks like this to cowards like EPN.

Vicente would have had him sweating bullets at night thinking about the cartels sneaking into his bedroom to cut his head off.

Is this how this piece shit is going to handle negotiations with every leader? They don't do as you say and you threaten to invade? What a shit stain.

He's not going to get the nomination.

He's not going to win the election.

He's not going to ban muslims.

He's not going to invade Mexico.

You should also add he's not going to stay in office past 4 years.

I don't see Trump stepping down from his presidency willingly. This is our future now and it sucks.

That would be difficult since the UN has no army.

No, they just have a peacekeeping force.

Peacekeeping has unique strengths, including legitimacy, burden sharing, and an ability to deploy and sustain troops and police from around the globe, integrating them with civilian peacekeepers to advance multidimensional mandates.

From the U.N. website.

The problem is the assumption that we don't need Mexico and that we should build a 15,000,000,000 dollar wall while simultaneously starting a trade war.

I was just telling my wife the other day that if this were an 80s movie, Donald Trump's kid, Barron would be escorted by the military as the heir apparent to Pax Americana, and then have his convoy ambushed by the Chinese espionage hit squad.

However, just as he was on the verge of getting executed, he would be rescued by American resistance fighters and brought to a small town in the Southern states, where the kindly Mexican/Muslim family, unaware of who he is, nurses him back to health.

Eventually, he falls in love with the mixed latino/Muslim daughter of the family caring for him, only to watch in horror as the Pax Americana troops attempting a search and rescue annihilate the town and imprison the family. Because, however, he was wearing rags and had gotten a tan from working out in the fields, he is nearly executed himself as a dissenter.

He eventually forms a resistance cell and assaults the white house, where his father is in the middle of a personal interrogation of his one True Love, which apparently involves grabbing certain body parts. In the ensuring struggle, his father topples from the roof the White House and is impaled on an American flag staff, while his son, now the leader of a free America, carries out an unconscious rebel girl, and declares a new era of freedom for America. Roll credits.

I'm at work so I can't make this as long but I probably should have made my first post better.

I'll just say our ties with Mexico go beyond just economic or a wall. It's population wise, cultural exchange, political (including red state Texas) and even religious.

Maybe I'm completely wrong but I personally feel there would be a complete breakdown of America's government from both Republicans and Democrats before we ever invade Mexico.

Could he authorize covert action against cartels? Probably, but I'd be surprised if it doesn't happen already.

What would be the American equivalent of Putin's little green men anyway?

Minutemen, III%ers, Neo-Nazis. Probably a quarter of the adult male population of East Texas. Blackwater, most likely there for logistics and 'advising'.

He needs a shock moment to swing it though, and that's when we start shifting our tinfoil, and mumbling about the Reichstag.

Is this an anime?

People have no clue. They are going to miss undocumented workers when they are gone. When farms, these smaller companies have to start paying employees competitive wages, and business go bankrupt and prices sky rocket, they are going to be wondering just what the fuck they did.

There isn't a White guy I know that will pick lettuce in the Arizona heat for even $20 an hour, let alone $10.

I seem to remember them trying to get prisoners to do something similar in the South to no avail.

If true, here's to hoping EPN sees this as a true wake-up call, finds his balls at some point, and reiterates his "hard no" stance.

Absolutely no country should be intimidated into paying for a different country's vanity project. The threat of invasion should be an even bigger reason to defy that country, not give in.

I seriously hope that countries can express disgust with the threat of invasion. That shit shouldn't be ignored or taken lightly by anyone.

Is this an anime?

I may have seen elements in other anime, being an anime fan myself, but this is really just my own idle imagination at work. I just pot boiled a lot of 80s elements I remember growing up with and threw that out at my wife one day and we chuckled about it.

I've had fiction published for both short stories and comics though, so I do have some familiarity with just making this stuff up.

On one side, obviously the SRE would say it's fake in order to keep EPN image (lol yeah, good luck with that). On the other hand, if there's really only a few people who actually was there when the call it's easier to call when you have no actual sources. Let's see how Aristegui replies

On the other hand, I guess it doesn't make sense for Trump to be belligerent to EPN WITHOUT boasting about it on National TV or Twitter. The WH's response to the call was very low-key, all things considered

Mexico's government is as trust-worthy as a Miyamoto interview (none at all)

I'm inclined to believe them for the first time in eons. Aristegui not making it clear that this was an unknown source and making it look like a fact with no proof was very irresponsible.

And we're back at square one with AP reporting the same as Aristegui: https://apnews.com/amp/0b3f5db59b2e4aa78cdbbf008f27fb49. And the News are starting to reach the Mexican populace it seems (or at least according to reactions in the social networks)

Man, wish we had a president will an actual strong personality, not him

I hold the Muslim population responsible for everything ISIS says and does

Between the people who voted for Trump and the people who didn't think he was enough of a problem to bother voting at all, the majority of the American people were okay with his election. Trump was chosen, ISIS wasn't.

Except Trump was democratically elected. ISIS grabbed some land with guns and armor. Americans are WAY MORE at fault.

A. More people voted Clinton than trump.
B. The point was that demonizing the whole for the actions of a subset of the whole is at best moronic.
C. I believe he's Muslim and should understand what being demonized for shits that's out of his control feels like

We pretending that Trump wasn't elected within a system America accepts as their governing system?

The normal procedure is to never answer to such rumours, they did it because the accusations were heavy (with the whole armed forces).

I think the attitude of both governments after the reunion shows that the report is fake, Trump stopped talking about Mexico and Peña just today announced the same 2-for-1 regulations policy that Trump implemented.

On one hand, it is Aristegui. I know she has great sources – just remember the whole Casa Blanca affair – so I can give her the benefit of the doubt, but she has quite the leftist and anti-PRI tendency. I wonder if one of her colaborators would resist the allure of an embellishments of the facts in order to make EPN look like a fool. At least the AMLO/Morena public would eat such story with gusto.

On the other side it's Trump (and Bannon). Ever since the launching of his campaign he has shown that this kind of warnings are OK with him. An actual invasion would be insane, but if the GOP keeps their lack of spine towards him it wouldn't surprise me to see him trying restrictions in both trade and legal demographic movement in the future.

Of course they would deny such reaction towards the POTUS even if it was true. It would make Peña Nieto even more of a joke in the international context, and the entire country would look weak. And it would give more ammo to the nationalist movements inside Mexico.
