I dislocated my shoulder on RE4 release day back in 2005. I was in high school. So instead of taking care of my shoulder, I undid the orthopedic whatever holding my arm and played RE4 for weeks as I couldn't go to school. To this day, my shoulder is still busted because of RE4 and me playing it instead of letting it heal. Still the greatest gaming memory I have. I remember my mom making me do chores so I could get some money to buy the game at launch and thinking about it while sweeping floors.
RE4 Remake is better. Flat out. My emotional attachment to the original cannot override the fact that the remake has more gameplay depth, better controls, sometimes brilliantly streamlined set pieces (the Bella Sisters), and expanded ones (the lake). A massive upgrade to atmosphere and a true mix of pure action and survival horror where every bullet counts instead of having a suitcase packed like the OG. And much better boss fights (Salazar, Verdugo and Krauser fights in particular).
