Resident Evil 4 Remake has sold over 9 million units worldwide

Exceptional remake and so far the best out of the bunch when it comes to RE being remade. Capcom understood the value and significance of the original and treated it with the respect and love it deserves. A classic reborn the right way.

Same here. Bought it on pc and then again gold edition disc on ps5
Rookie. I bought it twice on release. The Steelbook version and when it didn’t arrive on release I caved and bought it digital because I could not wait.

No regrets. Fully deserved. Take my money Capcom.

Meanwhile Square Enix is still struggling to clear 3 million units launch shipment for Final Fantasy 16 and steam version doesn't help it either with lukewarm sales reception.

I bought it twice and truly enjoyed it. Sales wise, it doesn’t hold a candle next to how many times I purchased the original. Capcom should work on getting their remakes on Meta. You can get them on iOS but you’ve got to have the latest iPhone in order to run them.

So well deserved. My GOTY in 2023 and frankly game of this entire generation so far. I bought the Collector's Edition, and it's very nice too (as they usually are).

Deserved. Shits on the SH2 remake from the highest of perches. Wish somehow Capcom could get the wheel to do a Silent Hill remake. I've already played R4make 3 times since launch which might be a record for me.

Hard disagree. Worst remake after Resident Evil (2002). The mechanics suck, the structure is too linear, the requests feel like chores, the game greatly overstays its welcome, and its presentation is much worse than original. Not only is gun drawing slow and aiming unsteady but the knife parry mechanics are inconsistent and melee is weak with enemies that have absurd bullet tolerance at the better tuned difficulties (not to mention adaptive difficulty shenanigans).

It made some improvements in level design but in the grand scheme of things it either toed the line or screwed up everywhere else.

For me, it's between BloodBorne and Resident Evil 4 for best paced games I have ever played. 20hrs of just amazing gameplay with no lulls
Bloodborne has inconsistent pacing unless you try to speed run exclusively the mandatory stuff (Yahrnam -> Cathedral -> Forest -> Byrgenwyrth -> Yahar'gul -> Lecture Building -> Nightmare of Mensis -> Hunter's Dream). It is a fun experience throughout due to the combat mechanics though.

RE4 pacing dives off a cliff halfway through the castle.

And I thought Rofif was the king of bad takes.

on my second play through right now. I will get the platinum.

$2,000,000 for rocket launcher seems insane though. Idk how am I supposed to do it.

Completed on pc and ps5, and again on the pro.

Stellar game. Hoping RE9 is a return to form and hope any remakes coming aren’t 5 or 6 which suck donkey balls.

Amazing and deserved. How does it rank with the rest?

Anyway, I hope this success will get Capcom to finally give it a proper sequel.
In terms of sales? Here are the current ranking as of September 30, 2024 (RE4 Remake was at 8 million units sold back then).

Street fighter really needs a major hype injection.

Seems no one is hyped to play it anymore even at the pro level. I’m of the mind that SF peaked with Super Street Fighter 4, and nothing since then mattered.

If it continues this way it may not even outsell SF5 lifetime… which SF5 road the coattails of SF4 but SF6 or a future SF7, won’t have those luxuries.

Fighting games in general need another SF4 era level of renaissance.

It should outsell SFV in the long term, especially if it gets a Switch 2 port, and I don't see any reason why it wouldn't, since it's already available on Xbox One and PS4.

Can we get engagement numbers instead? Isn't that the TRUE metric for success???

In all seriousness though, fantastic remake of a phenomenal game. Well deserved.

Less smoke than you're blowing out your arse. You start out with implying the 2002 RE Remake is terrible? Completely invalidates anything else you want to say right there.
How so? The remake of the first has worse level design (expands the worst parts of the original), obnoxious unkillable nuisance, flat presentation (sound design is especially phoned in), convoluted body burning mechanic (with punishment for not doing the extra inventory management), and slower less responsive controls. The only improvement is graphics fidelity and despite that animations look worse overall. Why would I want to trudge through that mess when I can have fun doing a run of the definitive version of the original?
