Resident Evil 5 PC Benchmark

I take it that from reading the details page it's a benchmark for special 3D software you can use, rather useless to most of us then?

it works fine without 3d goggles

DX9 fixed benchmark, max settings 8xaa

I'll give it a shot, but you have the same gpu as me :P

Any screens of the test? SFIV looked beautiful in full graphics on the benchmark.

the variable benchmark is where it at, screw the fixed one

variable dx 9, maxed 8 x aa

definitely drops below 60fps a fair bit with 8xaa for me, looks awesome in motion though

Holy shit. Totally didn't expect this so soon.

I can't see the pics at work, but I expect it looks ridiculously good. What kind of hardware do you have, and what's your lowest/average framerates?

I can't wait for this to come out. RE5 is the best looking console game out currently, IMO (yeah, I put it above KZ2 and Uncharted 1/2beta).

If that's the case, it's a safe bet that whatever performance you get from this benchmark you will be getting higher (double?) from the game without that enabled, so if you can manage 60fps now, you'll have no problem later.

Me too. Isn't the game scheduled for the end of 2009? And they tease us already with a benchmark? Oh well... let's try it.

edit: I read the other thread... September? go go go Capcom!

I'm gonna straight "D" this bitch sometime this afternoon :lol

But damn...for my computer to run RE5 at 60 fps, it might have to go at less than RE4's resolution =/

Game looks gorgeous in motion in DX10 mode with settings maxed (Q6600, 8800GT). Framerate isn't perfect (40-45 average) but definitely playable.

What's your computer? I have a relatively weak set up and the SF4 benchmark ran faster than Sonic The Hedgehog at 1280 x 1024 with 0 AA. It would have been unplayably fast if I didn't turn on AA.

I have V-sync forced on in my pc settings but I was getting a solid 60fps a good 95% of the time, 1400x900 with x8 AA, I did try x16 qsaa but it was dropping down to 40 in busy areas. gtx 260 and a core2duo 2.8.

Game is so lush at 60fps, screenshot did not work for me though :S so I will run it again with fraps on.

Seeing cut scenes at 60 is very impressive, run the benchmark just for the first bit and you will be impressed.

for me it seems dx9 4xaa is what i'll be playing it on, looks great with great performance too

Awesome to know it runs so well. I knew to expect a good PC port after SF IV and DMC4, but I really wasn't so sure how well it would run given how damn good the game looks.

Those of you not maintaining 60fps all the time, why not cut the anti-aliasing to 4x? It's virtually indistinguishable from 8x. You can cut it down to 2x if need be, though that does blur the image a tiny bit (which really usually doesn't matter in motion, and is preferable to dropping frames).

Glad to know I can expect my E6600 @ 3.0GHz and GTX 275 rig to play this smoothly at 1680*1050. :D

DX9, 4xAA is the performance I'm interested in right now. I'll go to DX10 and 8xAA if I have frames to spare, but the visual gain will be likely very minimal.

So is the GTX 260 the graphics card everyone on gaf has?

I need a new gfx card, so it's good to know if there is a consensus. I'll just need to make sure it works with core i7.

q9550@3.4, 4gb, gtx260 vista 64

benchmark is quite long, maybe 6 minutes. runs 60+ probably 80% of the time, the other 20% was 50-60 with one freak drop to 45, so yeah it runs excellent at 1920x1080 4xaa all maxed on dx9

You're getting those framerates at 1920x1080? Awesome.

As long as this isn't one of those games that suffers from mouse lag under 60fps, this should be friggin' amazing.

I was expecting my 8800GT to GTX 275 updrade to pay off for this game. :D

It's a good card, but I think the Radeon 4890 is the best buy at the moment.

Do all these Capcom games use the same engine or something? These ports have all been phenomenal...

Still downloading the benchmark here...

LP, DMC4 and RE5 use Capcom's MT Framework engine. SFIV uses a different engine that was made by Dimps.

Wow, seeing it run on PC is like watching a speeded-up chipmunk version compared to the console versions. :lol Makes you realize just how weak the fucking consoles are.

Very impressed by how it performs (averaging ~75 fps on my crappy PC, 1280x1024, DirectX 10, everything on High except AA on 2x, and V-Sync off). If it wasn't for the fact that I don't find the game good enough for a doubledip, I'd be all over this.

Remember my rig was only £400 or so to make, for the price the performance is 300% awesome. DX10 screens all max:

When I set the refresh to 75hz I get on average 65fps, going up and down depending but not too often below 60 which is great, also only using x4 AA in 1400x900 is plenty, it looks near jaggy free when in movement. So impressed.

Screens of the new costumes and the Mercs mode with triple the number of enemies.

Looks like they're sticking with the Mad Max ensemble.

HD 4890 is the best $/performance you can get in the better single slot cards at the moment. It really is a great buy. The GTX 275 is equivalent performance wise, but costs a bit more. The GTX 275 also has a bit more power draw, runs a little hotter, but is significantly quieter (which was the main detraction for me, since I had a loud PC).

I went with the GTX 275 since I'm an NVidia fanboy and enjoy the driver support.

HOLY CRAP WHAT

Now I need to get this!

The Port wasn't in Mercs...new levels yes!

Look like my small cache finally coming into play with my e2160 and 8800gt. I have my E2160 @ 2.8ghz right now, and no matter what options I mess with in my settings on my native res (1440 X 900) I get between 50 and 54fps. Can't crack the coveted 60fps without an upgrade, but I can max everything out and lock the game down at 30 with no slowdowns!
