RESIDENT EVIL 6 |OT| No Trope Left

Wait there ARE weapon upgrades? I just gained a little respect for this game. I thought they got rid of it entirely, which would've been fucking stupid. Anyone know what the upgrades are like or have a screenshot of it?

probably unlimited ammo or weapon damage uppage. My guess is unlimited ammo

The finale to Jake's campaign is seriously great stuff, one of my favourite final boss fights in the entire series, easily.

Does anyone know exactly what effects how many skill points you get? For each chapter in Leon's campaign I got from 2000 to 8000 skill points, except for Chapter 3, where I somehow earned about 40,000. I have no idea how the hell that happened, and to be honest I'm kind of exhausted with that campaign and I don't want to replay it to see if that happens again. :/

Chapter 3 is easily one of the worst chapters in the game.

Finished Leon's campaign. Kind of disappointed there wasn't much in the terms of story and cutscenes but whatever. It's batshit crazy. Those boss fights... :lol :lol

Just finished Chris's Chapter 1. His 'predicament' is hilarious.

This game. This fucking game. It's so fucking ridiculous it's amazing. In some weird way I'm glad Capcom made this while clearly downing pints of vodka in the process.

After 15 minutes of waiting at the UPS warehouse and another half an hour of walking back home since public transportation sucks, I am finally home with my copy of RE6 Archives. I need to eat and shower first, but I look forward to playing some of this game tonight.

Okay, I just played through the first act of Chris's campaign, and it's the only part of the game I've played so far. While I see many of the complaints as being valid, so far I'm having a decent time. It in no way shape or form is a game that deserves a 3, and the tutorial should have most certainly told you how to dodge and use melee. I think since I have been reading up on the game I already knew that, but if I didn't I don't think I'd be enjoying the game as much.

the NPCs made me think I was playing a RE game with sims in it.

quoting myself but the NPCs in Leon's game are so generic and they don't give you anytime to care/build a relationship so
whole gunhouse/fuel depot sequence til the end of chapter 1...when they inevitably die (LOL @ how they do 1 by 1) - that possee that helped you get to the church when the bus gets attacked and they all get killed.
just laughably bad.... its pretty bad. Sim like generic Npcs.

also,

the 3rd train track area of Leon's campaign, you can't stick to walls like you would in the 1st 2 areas (with button presses) so I kept dying there. Bad design eh.

Couldn't helped it and got the game, actually I think all the polarizing reviews make me want the game even more.

I just beat Leon chapter 2 on Veteran (since normal looked too easy on the demo) and the game is hard boy!, if it wasn't because of the generous checkpoints in will be a very hard game.

Is quite early to make impressions but just a few things:

- QTE's are a bitch in veteran, specially the one you have to move the left stick like crazy. So many bullshit deaths beacuse of that.

- Prologue is utter trash, awfully bad.

- Zombies become way more interesting as an enemies after you leave the demo area.

- Chapter 2 boss was quite cool, actually chapter 2 is better than chapter 1 by far.

alr1ght

bish gets all the credit :)
Pro-Tip: Use the palm of your hand to rotate the stick in those type of QTEs. I think if you rotate both it goes even faster.

Chris Chapter 4 >>> the other 3 chapters

For a minute, you'd almost mistake this for a good game. I'm genuinely surprised!

Mario Party 1 style

Oh, and MAJOR CHRIS CHAPTER 4 SPOILERS
Ada Wong's death was the funniest shit ever. Finally catch up to her after two missions of chasing, she stands there gloating, dude with sunglasses out of fuckin' NOWHERE kills her, then flies off back to nowhere. LOLOL

Watching Giantbomb quicklook of the game is hilarious. Brad is playing through chapter 2 of Leon campaign and complaining about how cheap the zombies are with how they can pounce you and how you can't stop it with one bullet. Jeff randomly asks "Couldn't you avoid that by jumping on your back?" and Brad and Patrick both reply "Err, maybe? I don't know? There's no use for that..."

Maybe Capcom should have released a video showing all the base mechanics in detail as most journalists doesn't seem to take the time to learn them.

Textures aren't really that impressive in this game. The lightning is great, has a very soft look but the overall picture feels a little muddy. I'm on 360 btw.

I can't explain it. There are some parts that look great but others that just look bad, very uneven looking game.

Fun though, and kind of hard on normal. I'm enjoying the greater focus on meele. Zombies taking 6 or more head shots though is a bit ridiculous although sometimes they go down in two.

I know they have quite a big following on here, but I seriously can't stand Giant Bomb for this exact reason. They always seem to miss key mechanics of games because they're too busy trying to be funny and take the piss out of everything.

Nah, the Giant Bomb guys are just clueless at playing games, all of them really. Watch their RE4 quicklook for example, they play the game by shooting every enemy in the chest and they didn't even know what the herbs did. And one of the guys claimed to have played every version of the game that came out. Embarrassing.

Just started playing. Doing a chronological playthrough, so I'm starting with Chris.

Aside from some wonky camera issues (especially in tight corridors) I'm enjoying it so far. Camera is WAY too close to Chris, though.

There's a moment early in Chapter 1 (with Chris) where it sort of pans back when he's crossing rooftops. That would be the PERFECT distance to have the camera. Wish there was a way to toggle that.

Still, I'm having some fun here. It is not a "3/10" game, but it certainly doesn't play like a 9 or a 10, either. There seems to be a certain lack of polish, but it's nothing game breaking. Anyway, this looks to be a zany, silly ride.

it's funny until you realise how many people are influenced by their opinion, then it becomes highly frustrating.

If you start on Chris' campaign, play as Piers. Not gonna spoil anything, but you will have a much better time.
Huh. Kotaku said this as well. Why, without spoilers please? Also, I'm in the middle of chapter 2. At the end of the demo area with Chris. Can I go back to Piers when I complete the chapter somehow?

You can go back to Piers in the next chapter (by choosing chapter select) but you'll be at a blank slate with ammo and weapons.

I would actually personally prefer Chris for his campaign. There's one section where playing as Chris removes a lot of potential frustration.

I should note that I did play Piers though, so I dunno if there's any parts with Chris which can be frustrating.

Where the fuck is Barry?! I haven't played this game yet but I imagine they could've at least put him in instead of adding Piers. Does Capcom realize how popular a character he is?

Going by the speed of my current PSN download, you'll probably be playing before me.

This is painful. Like, physically, uncomfortable.

yep.

I was wondering why you had been sitting on your PS3 all day without playing anything. lol. UPS guy delivered it to me a little before 2pm while I was making an omelet.

Mercs is crazy fun to me. Just with there were more maps right off the bat. Amazon hasn't e-mailed me my code for the High Seas map yet.

Im pleased to say that the over the top "michael bay" prelude was not bad like I expected. It's funny that they are telling you the basic controls as a tutorial, and for whatever reason no one mentioned that. Also, QTEs are WAY BETTER than RE4-5. They give you room to make up for a miss, and introduce themselves as something you can react to even if you werent paying total attention /just watching the cutscene.

Who didn't die in RE4 the first time of the boulder run. Those were bad, intrusive, instadeath QTEs. These are a heaven in comparison.

so...I couldn't remember how to mix new tablets (I thought I pressed every button on the controller still couldnt find it)

looked in options during game couldnt s ee any info on game (controls or a manual AS THERE NO MANUAL IN THE BOX)

Quit out to main menu, still couldn't find a sign of just controls let alone a manual.

Man, have to say that Leon's campaign looks great and feels like a real RE game. The other 2 selectable campaigns seemed like garbage, which is a shame as I'd like to play Leon's and Ada's campaigns.

Hit y then mix them, also if you have herbs and need them automatically put in your dispenser, just hit RB and X together. or if ps3, those perspective buttons of course.

You can mix herbs extremely quickly in this game.

Just press triangle, scroll to herb and keep pressing x. The game will automatically scroll to the right options.

The way the game handles on line jump in/jump out co-op and story intersections is awesome.

I was playing as Chris with a co-op partner as Piers and when we got to Chris' first boss it joined us with two other players as Sherry and Jake

Very, very cool.

Screw them. I'm loving the mechanics. Jumping backwards while lobbing a grenade at a pack of zombie dogs is hilarious.

This is true. I had no problem with the prelude. So you can't do much. Does it really matter? It's a short part and you never have to do it again.

And it's also true about the RE4-5 deaths. I def died from the boulder runs in RE4. That Krauser QTE cutscene knife battle wasn't something I nailed first time. And they swap the buttons. And that RE5 Wesker cutscene on the plane. You had to really focus and react quickly.

A couple of hours into Leon's campaign, I'm definitely surprised that I'm enjoying it. Reviews ground my expectations down to a nub.

Thanks. I still would like to know why I should play as Piers though. I mean, I don't want to spoil anything but I'd like to know why his campaign is better.

Yeah it's really shocking.

But I guess personality trumps all when it comes to this sort of thing.

Reviews may have been higher if the game was only Leon's campaign (and from the sounds of it, Ada's)

I liked Leon's campaign more than I expected to it really feels like a true RE game. Unfortunately, I dont know if I will have the patience to complete the other 2 initial campaigns as they seemed like garbage in comparison. This is a shame, as I am interested in Ada's campaign.

Not sure at this point if I should just get rid of this game and wait for PC version which will be better and presumably trivial to unlock Ada.
