RE has not and never will be a first person adventure/shooter thingie.
Good thing that isn't what they are going for....
The perspective in RE7 and 8 doesn't take away from the return of those core concepts of puzzles, back tracking, limited ammo, health, finding weapons etc. I could give 2 shits if you see their back or its in first person, so long as it has those RE concepts, I simply don't care. RE was not some deep twitch shooter where its gameplay was reliant seeing someone's back in order for the concept to work.
Prior to RE4, the majority of RE titles had movement and gameplay almost as a afterthought to the core concept. The main idea of RE was simply those puzzles, back tracking, lore etc and gameplay seem to take a backseat to a lot of that game's ideas to pretend seeing someone's back was this required thing. The fact that the best selling Resident Evil will be in First Person goes to show just how little most of the fans really actually care about that.
As a fan of the IP myself....I don't care lol I care if its core concept is intact, what perspective thats in has no relevance to my purchase. After the shit show that was RE5-6 etc, I just wanted those core concepts back and funny enough, seeing someone's fucking back in RE5- and 6 didn't make them anymore RE titles then the last ones simply cause the perspective was the same lol Enough was removed that it was closer to Gears Of War or something then a traditional RE concept and I always felt those should have been subtitles. So, if RE9 shows a back....kool. If RE9 is in first person.......kool lol I only care if I can back track, do puzzles, read some random ass files for lore, limited ammo and health and find weapons and I'm good. Perspective in RE imho has been the least of my worries after the last gen of what was happening with those titles lol
