I like RER2, too, but I don't understand the hate for RER1.I don't know what it is about Revelations but they just feel so cheap and generic to me. Revelations 2 was a step in the right direction.
I think it really highlights how much I loved the characters from the original games. Resident Evil Revelations had Chris and Jill but they've never really been my favourites - and the ones they introduced are all fucking god awful.
Revelations 2 was alright with it's weird and kooky female villain but she felt criminally underutilised after the big reveal.
I understand they're smaller budget but I feel like their clashing ideals - to provide the "best of both worlds" backfires. A jack of all trades, master of none kind of situation?
I wish I could like them. I liked them when I first played them, but repeat plays just were shit for me.
Revelations 2 > Revelations though. That awful Terragrigia shit :| :| :| :|
So has there ever been a mod to make Chris in BIO5 look more like his original vastly superior incarnation?
Resident Evil. Biohazard is far too on-the-nose for me. Resident Evil is more ambiguous in its meaning and sounds more intriguing.
To be fair, Biohazard is a much better descriptor of the series, especially since RE1 is really the only one at all that is largely about a single home.
It's the pic that appears the most in the official works book (appearing on the cover, a chapter header, a full-body shot, and a full-page portrait shot). It seems to be the same model, but said model looks different depending on the lighting. She has more dimensionality to her face (cheekbones, lips, etc) than she did in past games, so the face will look different under different circumstances. That being said, I think she looks great in most cases, and fine in others.
the use of Dante's Inferno as a framing device
It feels like an MGS title in terms of plot complexity at times
It definitely has a bigger budget than RER2
and frankly it feels more expensive than RE5
Couldn't have said it better! Resident Evil has more mystery to it imo.Resident Evil. Biohazard is far too on-the-nose for me. Resident Evil is more ambiguous in its meaning and sounds more intriguing.
Yeah, Rev 1 is bottom tier for me. Those stupid bullet sponge bosses are the worst.
The first Scagdead just. wouldn't. die.
To this day I'm still unsure why I even replayed it. Dreadful experience.
I still consider it to be a 5/10 game. Least favorite RE just below CVX.
I thought the parts with Jill were great, hated the rest.
Rev 2 was such an immense leap forward.
I hate all the characters the game introduced and was really annoyed byhow they used that lame plot device of implying that they died only to later reveal that they are actually alive for every single one. Unbelievable. Not only is it terrible writing, I was actually relieved to see them die, only to be disappointed later.
Resident Evil for sure.
OH. MY. COD.
Fixed it for you.
Heard you guys were talking shit about Helena.
Also, The Last One over in the Julia Voth Cosplay thread delivered some greatness.

The film features BSAA advisor Rebecca Chambers; BSAA SOU Captain Chris Redfield and US government agent Leon Scott Kennedy. Concept art shown suggests that an isolated mansion may be an aspect of the story.
So we're going to get Rebecca Chambers, Chris Redfield and Leon S Kennedy in the third CGI movie.
I knew they were making a third one but not that these guys were in it. It will be awesome to see Chris in a movie for once, only hope that Roger Craig Smith is voicing him.

Wasn't Chris in the last one? I hated it so much I erased it from my memory. The first one was much better.
Nah, that was Leon.
Leon in Degeneration looked weird. He looked way better in Damnation.

Damnation was better than Degeneration in every way. Aside from there being no Claire.
Also I hope the next movie is called Disaster or something. So we can have the DDD Resident Evil movie collection.
I'm not trying to be stupid, but is HUNK canon in the RE time line or is he just fanservice?
Had to uninstall RE5 because I've got other things to play and maybe RE4?

I recently realized that Capcom hadn't announced a 3D Mercs port on Steam and other HD consoles.
I wonder why that is.
I don't know what it is about Revelations but they just feel so cheap and generic to me.
At least it was Leon this time and not an emotionless robot.
Probably as Mercs 3D was made for handheld platforms, and doesn't fit as well on other platforms that already have Resident Evil 4, 5, & 6's mercenaries modes.
One can hope someday they'll make some Mercenaries exclusive game, but with more content all-around.
That would be due to TOSE. Same with CV, GS and 0. Cheap outsourcing. There is a significant gulf between CV and 3 for example in terms of quality and design. It's easy to distinguish the actual CAPCOM-made games in this series.
HELL YES! DAY ONE!If it's priced with in reason on Steam

How much of a role did TOSE have in Revelations 2? I know they were involved in some capacity but my loose memory tells me Capcom had more hands-on with the project. Regardless, I did think Revelations 2 was a big improvement over Revelations 1 (even though I enjoyed Revelations 1 pretty well regardless, definitely had bigger faults and not the same highs as Revelations 2, though).
RE6's gameplay is too good to throw away but it doesn't fit into what I want from my RE games, so for me the ideal solution would be a standalone Mercs with RE6's combat while the main games stick to Revelations 2 style gameplay.
Can't agree with this, Damnation was complete nonsense. You're also contradicting yourself with those first 2 sentences so you're opinion is invalid.
