What about GS1? I thought I always heard it was shit too but I've never played or really seen either of the GS games anyway.

It's ok. If you can play it with a G-Con it's really fun, but that requires using a PAL/Jap copy and CRT TV.

Had a passable story, lots of lore and info in files, plus multiple branching paths.

Barry can kiss my ass...

Moira is a quote machine.

Yeah, I was totally ready to hate her, but by the end I thought she was awesome

I'll say, Capcom recently have done a fairly decent job at taking characters that could completely suck and be flatout unlikable (Jake, Moira, and Natalia come to mind ; the sudden son of long-time series antagonist who's existence makes little sense and cliche bad boy, an over-cussing and overly written teen who whines and complains, and a child character you have to escort), and somehow made all three of them pretty decently likable.

Yep. I was expecting to hate both Moira and Jake, and ended up loving both.

I remember there was some bad press before the game released, specifically knocking Moira for her childish lines. So I was worried. But those lines were part of what ended up making her so memorable. Her attitude was a breath of fresh air in an otherwise serious/grim cast of characters. That, and I was pleasantly surprised that despite being a complete newcomer to the series, she actually received a significant amount of character development by the end of the game, moreso than even some of the oldest recurring characters in the series. Hopefully that means Capcom plans to keep her around.

I'm still surprised by the acclaim by both Resident Evil 6 and Revelations 2. I personally couldn't get into either game. After my semester ends, I'm going to replay both Remake and RE0 on my Gamecube, and then take a crack at both games on my PS4. Quite excited!

Well the acclaim of RE6 is mixed but sales wise, it was the next RE mainline title. Capcom had a big budget for marketing, and a lot of people really like the coop the series has. Revelations 2 was to many (not me) a nice middle ground of pleasing both camps and the Cheaper price helped more people try it.

Still all the titles seem to be selling well Eve the HD older titles. So I definitely see Capcom continuing with all these forms of genres after RE2makes success if it is indeed in that style ( I'm betting on it).

Slow going 'round here. This was posted to the RE FB page a couple of days ago. How about it, resiGAF? Do you fight Nemmy for stuff, or make a break for it.

I always run, even though some of the loot sounds pretty good

He's fairly easy to clown, so yeah fight him get his shit. (Why was he even carrying weapon parts?)

Only played RE3 once, actually, and I ran every time I could. I remember being freaked out when he was chasing me, I got to a save room, only to have him burst through the door. Nemesis killed my safe place!

Really looking forward to playing RE3 again during my 20th anniversary series playthrough. Maybe I'll try fighting him this time around.

Maybe I should go a do a Nemesis face-off run, I've played through the game many times, and can honestly say I've never tried getting all of his loot

I rarely fight Nemesis, he feels cheap to me, his speed brings the limitations of tank controls to the surface in a frustrating way.
I consider myself pretty good at these games having played through all of them several times and being able to effortlessly outmaneuver every enemy type, but this is the only enemy that I find downright annoying every time.

Run first playthrough, grind Mercs for infinite rocket launcher, get cool guns second playthrough.

This sounds good. Gear up, then beat his ass. Maybe this weekend.

Who's buying Umbrella Corps next month? I don't do much online MP, but it's canon, right? IIRC it's canon (unlike ORC). I can't really say no to canon RE

As far as we know, it is. It takes place in 2015 and has little to no story content.

There has been no word on how the story content will be presented, but the stages and creatures featured in the game, as well as the basic setting and any organizations involved, are all heavily tied to the series storyline. The Heavenly Island manga even functions as a prologue to the game.

HI remains Japan-only, right? I've found your comments regarding it interesting, but have avoided the stuff you spoiler-tagged

Yeah, I guess more appropriately it'd be "has little narrative as far as we know".

I always found the very first fight with him to be a bitch, the later ones are easier.

I just take the two handgun upgrade parts he drops the first two times you beat him by causing an explosion in the restaurant, and electrecuting him with the cable in the clocktower later on, I never fight him unless I have to. If you kept his item drops in a new game+ it might be worth it, but that's not the case.

Fun fact: A lot of people are having trouble with the area where you first meet Carlos, because that's also the first area where Nemesis relentlessly stalks you throughout the entire map. But you can easily get around this by escaping to the previous save room at the parking garage, as that will remove Nemesis from the area entirely.

Does anybody know whether they will ever add RE6 (PS4/XBONE) support for RESIDENT EVIL.NET? I just discovered this when I bought Revelations 2 and the additional achievements and unlocks are a nice extra feature.

Their recent ports have been cutting costs a lot, so I doubt they'll add any RE.net support for RE6, RE5, and RE4 HD. They didn't even add RE0. RE7 is probably the next game that'll have support.

Too bad, but thanks. That kind of reduces my motivation to get back into RE0 after I'm finished with the REmake HD. Any hopes that they might add support to the new version of RE4? I mean, if any game deserves this kind of attention it would be RE4, right?

I wouldn't write off completely RE5 and RE4 getting re.net support. But I wouldn't put it highly. I don't even expect Umbrella Corps to get support.

So I've decided to play the resident Evil games series after many years. I'd like to experience the series from scratch. Any suggestions on how to go about this?
Google searches only bring up old articles.

I own every system both modern and older. What's the best experience?

Main series in order of release, if you like them try the side games afterwards.

I'd go through the mainline series in (plot) order. Though the transition from the lovely REmake and RE0 graphics to RE2 may be jarring, RE2 has a great story that should pull you in.

REmake (any current-gen system)
RE0 (same)
RE2--I'd play the PS1 version (available as a PS1 classic for PS3 and Vita). The N64 version is neat from a technical perspective, but the extra files are available online
RE3--PS1 classics
Code Veronica: I'd go with the "X" version, there was an HD port for last-gen systems
RE4--Hm, oh my. If you have a good PC, I'd go that route & you can get in on the cool hi-res mod project. Otherwise, get anything but the original gamecube version (It's missing the Separate Ways add-on)
Revelations: A lot of folks preferred it as a 3ds title, if you like handheld it's not a bad way to go. The HD port for last gen systems is also solid
RE5--by then, maybe the new remaster will be out. Might as well go with that
Revelations 2: The graphics are nothing special, so platform may not matter much. I had a blast with it on PS4.
RE6--The current-gen re-release has great framerate. I'd go with that

There are some really cool spinoff titles, too. I'd get through the mainline first and see how you feel. My personal favorite of the spinoffs is Outbreak.

That's just my take. Others may have a better idea. Keep us posted!

I'd recommend picking these up on Dreamcast or Gamecube, as that way you'll get 480p graphics, though it's not a huge difference. Vita portability on the PS1 versions is nice.
