I wholeheartedly agree, the show looks like a complete travesty. I'm not watching it, but I've watched plenty of reviews and snippets of it. That's enough. It literally looks and sounds like something that was originally made as its own series, but they knew it wouldn't stand on its own two feet. I mean, the dialogue is awful, the writing is fanfic level if that, it just seems like a bizarre throwaway. So they slapped Resident Evil onto it, and made some adjustments. A Resident Evil thing here, one there, etc. The name alone will make people watch it, unfortunately.
The real sad part are the people saying they liked it or really liked it. There's no hope for us, lmao.
I do have eye damage, hence I use glasses.
But I don't suffer from severe brain concussion since I can see the difference.
Ethnicity is pretty important to lore I love.
I'd also hate seeing a black lore character been played by a white guy. It goes both ways.

Their CGI Saint Seya from 2020 didn't get glowing reviews either. So Netflix fucked up Witcher, Death Note, Cowboy Bebop, Resident Evil..anything else? Just add it to the pile.
Witcher is actually great. You can argue with the color change to the characters, but the character itself doesn't change. There one thing here and there that is not good, but even the games is not 1x1 to the books, so it's ok. Everything else is shit thouSo Netflix fucked up Witcher, Death Note, Cowboy Bebop, Resident Evil..anything else? Just add it to the pile.

Volton, She-Ra, and He-Man too. I'd also say Castlevania but people love that for reasons I don't understand. So Netflix fucked up Witcher, Death Note, Cowboy Bebop, Resident Evil..anything else? Just add it to the pile.
One of the biggest themes to move the plot early on is animal activism and a character being veganApart from the diverse casting and race swapping, how woke is this show?
Does it talk down to the audience? Does it find excuses to lecture us about racism in the west? Does it tell us how evil ypipol are?
Volton, She-Ra, and He-Man too. I'd also say Castlevania but people love that for reasons I don't understand.
I defend the movie because at least tried to be a fair transposition of RE, though isn't exactly good. But compared this series? Goosh all the life the last movie. You literally scrutinize many details about the movie where I could agree (CGI, Lion character), but you give a free pass to the shitty scripting of the netflix show which become totally trash after the 4 episodes for unexplainable reasons because RE game hasn't ever had a good story? Forgive me but the series script was "fine" for me at the beginning, the hell it has to do the quality of RE game story with the trascendency of story in total garbage in the last part? And it's not just because Wesker Blade (though is the cherrypick of such moments) but the story is filled of absurdity, superficiality and contradictions in the last episodes which I can't describe without any major spoiler. And I don't understand how you can defend this movie. Is this Playstation 1?
Again, WTF happened with Leon who is sleeping while a freackin horde is about to enter? Who gets fucking ridiculed by someone in prison, and that someone steals his gun!! W. T. F. How can you defend this seriously it is beyond my understanding.
Yeah, you mean like the games? Because let's be real here, RE has NEVER been incredible on the story side. It ranges from ok to complete nonsense.
Again, let's not pretend that RE is some kind of super smart, super well done story that takes itself 100% seriously:
Because Wesker Blade is here for about 2 minutes? So it's not really annoying while Leon is the fuckin hero of the last movie.
All in one this show is not specially good, but yeah it's the best live-action RE. And by a laaaaarge margin.
Listen, I'm not saying the movie is perfect (far from it), but again - at least it TRIES to be Resident Evil. The Netflix show is not Resident Evil in any way, shape, or form. If I had to choose between a sequel to the film or another season of this shitshow (which is a very real decision that will be made in the coming months), I'd choose another movie 100x over, because at least the filmmakers would try to make a Resident Evil film instead of generic zombie show #1295.
Respecting or moving away from the games is not necessarily the criterion that will make a film or an RE series a success. The latest film seeks fidelity and fail miserably imo, there nothing to save.I defend the movie because at least tried to be a fair transposition of RE, though isn't exactly good. Read again my first reply:You literally scrutinize some details about the movie where I could agree (CGI, Lion character), but you give a free pass to the shitty scripting of the netflix show
Uh where I defending the movie. I just said it's better because the scripting of the Netflix series is so worse in the last part to prefer the movie. And in any case I liked the movie for almost 2/3 but not in the final part. Still I think it's a bit better than the Netflix series.Respecting or moving away from the games is not necessarily the criterion that will make a film or an RE series a success. The films with Milla Jovovich try, at least at the beginning, to follow the games a little. The first and the second remain not too bad even if a little ridiculous, and then it goes into shitshow in the other films.
So fidelity is not necessarily the deciding factor that will make a good or bad adaptation of RE, even if it is necessary to keep certain elements of course.
And not to mention that the games are not really shining with their writing, which can be VERY goofy too.
Read again my first reply:
"I found it not so atrocious" and "But the main problem of this series is its heroine who is as dumb as she is equipped with plot armor. From the moment she brought the zombie back on the boat you manage to predict EXACTLY the course of the episode. Honestly, how can she be so stupid. And this is the biggest example but there are many others. I hope she's dead (but I don't believe it, the plot armor deflected the bullet into her belly so that the evil twin didn't kill her)"
I wouldn't call that giving a free pass. And my conclusion is still the same: "In short, it's meh. At least we avoided the shitty level of the last movie."
Uh where I defending the movie
I defend the movie because
, everyone who hated Welcome to Raccoon City owes that movie an apology. At least that movie tried to be Resident Evil.
Wrong, Witcher is a fucking travesty and casting wrong ethnicities is the least of its problems.Witcher is actually great. You can argue with the color change to the characters, but the character itself doesn't change. There one thing here and there that is not good, but even the games is not 1x1 to the books, so it's ok.
Other than a certain teenage storyline in the Halo TV series, I thought it was pretty good even if it was non-canon. But this poop right here is just crap. And if it wasn't made for the fans of the games, why even call it Resident Evil. I guess for maybe the people that have watched the RE movies. Other than having zombies or whatever they're calling it and a character being Wesker in name only, what makes this an RE TV series.
It doesn't really follow any of the RE storylines or even come close to it.
That would explain why deaftourette likes it

I agree with both outlets after finishing the show.
Very good and hype for season 2.

I really don't understand how it's possible they didn't fuck it up. It's a fantastic nostalgia filled, acrion packed and lore respectable adaptations ever, not only on Netflix. At least their Transformers trilogy is great. Their Starscream actually sounds like Chris Latta.
Oh and this scene it's another gem:
Gave it a shot but the first episode was really difficult to get through.
Felt like the protagonist should’ve died several times over in just that episode. Like, she’s hunted by a hoard right in the beginning, one gets hold of her and the rest just stop to stand in a circle and watch her fight that one zombie..
Very bad fist episode imo, doubt I’ll continue.
Okay, this cracked me up. Is the show bad as in "funny bad"...or is it just awful?
Either way, this short clip got me interested.
I'm not a fan of race changing the characters tbh, it's like are they trying to push an agenda.
I don't care if whatever race they started out to be but suddenly changing them to another race for the sake of "appealing" isn't good imo. It just adds confusion.
I enjoy it but I don't relate it to Castlevania.Volton, She-Ra, and He-Man too. I'd also say Castlevania but people love that for reasons I don't understand.
