Resident Evil requiem | What camera did you use?

Did you stick with the default of Grace in first person and Leon in third?

I liked it at first, but I think I'm starting to prefer to play strictly in third person for both. I think I just prefer them to control and look similar, if that makes sense. I think in the next run, I might try both in first person.

Still making my way through the game. I've been pure 1st-person for Grace. With Leon I've been 65% 3rd person but I'm trying some time in 1st person as well. Leon has felt surprisingly fine in 1st person so far. I think it's really impressive they built the game to feel satisfying from both perspectives.

Where is the poll?

I stuck with the defaults (Grace in 1st, Leon in 3rd), then switched them around for the second run.

Moving forward, I'm kind of torn with Grace but definitely sticking with Leon in 3rd-person. 1st-person Leon just doesn't feel right.

3rd person for both from the start and I'm so glad I did. I tried 1st person and it's awful, feels extremely low quality and tacked on last minute. The quality difference and experience of playing is leagues better with 3rd.

Default. Graces sections are made with FPV in mind imo, because:

1. When the game is running with the RT set to On with the PS5, the game drops frames in some parts of Grace's campaign when you use TPP instead of FPV. Examples: the waiting room with benches in the hospital, some parts of the basement, probably more but I went back to FPP after the 2nd time it dropped frames. Probably because its also rendering her whole model on top of the scene.

2. The TPP switches shoulders basically never, its always on the right side and theres parts where your hiding spot is on your right so you can't see around the corner/hiding spot properly without exposing yourself. Example: the basement when you first take the electric plugs and the girl turns up, you must hide there and wait and the open jail cell is on the right. You can hide further back on the left but it seems like a terrible idea without prior knowledge that she'll turn and leave scriptedly.

3. The game has added falling animations to slow you down in TPP, vs just slower speed in FPP, which imo is more frustrating than just the tension of constantly slower movement.

Regarding no. 1: Maybe the patch changed things and it didn't stutter on launch/1.00 with TPP in those spots, I only did TPP on my 2nd playthrough after patches. Still if they had TPP equally in mind as FPP for Grace you'd think the stuttering would be present in both modes after patch.

So the game is absolutely perfectly fine with TPP for Grace and the above are minor things in the grand scheme, I just think overall the game is more enjoyable when you don't have an interruption to your disbelief being suspended by a camera or stuttering when 95% of the rest of the game doesn't have those issues.

3rd Person for both, I understood Capcom intended a Catfish moment and in order for that to work Grace had to be defaulted to that view.
Playing it in 3rd person you can see they actually put more effort into it then the first person view.

Default, then 1p after, purely because it's smoother. Leon's weapons do take up more of the screen, though. I will note that it's absolutely necessary for me to play with the FOV mod, because the default 65 or whatever is awful and I have no idea why Capcom don't have a slider.

There isn't really any atmospheric advantage to 8 or 9 being in 1p. It worked in 7 because of Jack being behind you, but afterwards it was business as normal. 9 is more a stealth game than horror half the time.

I intended to play third person for both initially, but opted to go with Capcom default recommendation in the end. I felt like playing third person is Grace gave me too much of an advantage in terms of spatial awareness and so forth.

I did do third person for Grace on a replay. I would still rather have future Resident Evil titles developed with third person as the primary goal experience.

With the FOV mod installed I'm definitely all in on first person. It's great that way, much better than original third person which I was all in on without it.

It's a step in the right direction, implementing both.

Instead of having to have people mod the game like RE7, and pay for it like in RE8.

Now... Just give us fixed camera and I can die happy.

Third person for both. I am even pissed off that the game forces first person perspective on you during a few Grace sections and cutscenes. All jokes aside, I would have skipped this game if they forced the first person perspective on you for the Grace sections. I freaking despise that shit so much, lol.

For me, the two worst things to ever be introduced in RE games is the forced Co-Op in 5 and 6 and the FPV in 7 and 8. Still not sure which one I hate more, but I think I am leaning towards hating the FPV more.

1st person for Grace on first playthrough for maximum spookiness, then switched her to 3rd person on subsequent runs for faster movement. Always 3rd person for Leon.

the defaults for both characters.

I almost swapped with Grace because the FOV is disgustingly low, but I absolutely hate her third person animations

Default game recommended:
- First person for Grace
- Third person for Leon

It was great. Some of Grace's sections make good use of first person.

Didn't have to choose on PC, installed a mod that allow me to switch camera in real time. I prefer first person for combat, even for Leon, third person for running around the level.
