Resident Evil Revelaitons |OT| 3D Jill Sandwiches

Haha, I did the same. I got pretty physical when I used my legs to aim.

Nintendo should sell these instead of the stupid CCP. Well, they wouldn't even have to change the name:
Circle Chair Pro
.

Edit: Dammit... my joke does a nose dive, because it's CPP, not CCP... :(

This really is an impressive looking game. Played through the demo last night and enjoyed it quite a bit. The 3D is lackluster, but the image quality in 2D is fantastic so I don't mind.

The demo really reminds me of the RE4 mansion demo (the enemies with the hooks) prior to the final look of the game.

lacklustre? did you not max out the 3D strength in the settings menu, or are you talking about crosstalk and the occasional frame drops?

So I finally got some time to play this. I finished the normal mode. This game is really good. Playing in full blast 3D. Going through hell mode right now. I've read that you can dodge, but I push the up button and nothin happens, is it hard to do? I've died about 3 times trying to do this...

I heard you have to press left or right with pretty specific timing. I haven't figured it out myself though.

It felt completely flat to me. When I cranked up the option in the menu it was full of cross talk and still felt relatively flat. Didn't enjoy it at all in 3D.

Ok, I've just received confirmation that a RE game+circlepadpro bundle should arrive in da house within few days (let's say few days earlier than the store release).
I'll post pics/impressions if you're interested.

I feel like I'm missing something when I see posts like these. To me, the game feels so flat and boring with just the 2D on.

I dunno what to tell you, it didn't impress. The anti-aliasing in 2D adds more to the experience.

Don't get me wrong, I love 3D, but it just didn't do anything for me here.

I feel like I'm missing something when I see posts like these. To me, we've been playing games in "flat and boring" 2D for 30 years. 3D adds nothing to the gameplay.

I think I'm going to play the demo again. So damn good.

I had a horrible time with the controls. I'll probably try running through the demo a couple more times but also pick up a circle pad pro and seeing how it changes things.

I agree that the 3D is unimpressive (as are most 3DS games imo). The convergence is deep enough, but not enough separation. In other words, the scene is set far back enough, but objects don't carry enough depth to them. Though, I still prefer playing in 3D.

I really think devs should give full control of 3D to users, similar to what you would find with 3D drivers on PC.

I think its because the game looks much sharper in 3D and the view range is a little different. I might tone down the in game strength to either just strong or normal though...since I really dont like light ghosting you get with some items/areas at very strong.

Would be nice if enemies would would slightly pop out of the screen when the grab you.

oddness. i really enjoyed the way the game looked in 3D, crosstalk aside. i'll take the increased visibility and added depth over AA, personally, but it sure does look pretty damn special still in 2D.

Ok, I'll probably buy the pack with the Frankenstick. Here it's only more 10€.

On the other hand, we have a special lenticular cover for those who pre-order the game.

Yeah just like how color added nothing to television/movies and stereo added nothing to music right?

Personally I have a hard time playing any 3DS game in 2D anymore, feels like somethings off visually.

As for the CPP I'll hold off on getting it until MGS3D I imagine, playing the RE:R demo I did not have any issues with the default controls.

Yup, this is how I feel. It's *too* much like looking into a box. Jill should have been on the closest field of depth, and the environment gradually move back away from her. Instead, Jill seems to already be about a third of the way into the box, so a lot of important close-up 3D space I wasted, and the environment is so far away that the objects aren't as distinguished as other games.

I still prefer 3D however, but it could have been done better in this game IMO.

I agree with this. There's not really any pop-out so it seems kind of like a missed opportunity, especially with a horror game where you could creep someone out way more doing that. I'm still very happy with the depth. And the sensation of walking near walls/bookshelves/whatever reminds me of when I'd freak out in Ridge Racer if I got too close to the edge of tracks, haha.

All I know is that I was switching between 2D and 3D last night to compare, and turning it to 2D just made me sad.

On my account side on zavvi.com they say it will be dispatched on release day. Please don't fail me, Zavvi!

This is my problem. Zavvi usually take ages in getting you stuff to you. Over a week most of the time from my experience. I hope they dispatch it beforehand. I don't want to be waiting over week for my game.

Is the main story based on a ship or can I expect more environments?
Thanks.

The core of the story takes place on the ship with a Chapter-based, plot-driven thread driving you through it - but you can also diverge and explore new areas of the ship or revisit old ones, finding new weapons, more ammo and upgrades. All those upgrades persist specifically through the ship segment.

The rest takes place in several other locales, but these are more linear sections where your upgrades and weapons don't carry over, giving you a specific load-out instead (different characters) and is more about going from point A to B to C - and then usually there's a perspective change that flips you back to the ship.

Type B controls really aren't so bad. I just wish they let you strafe-aim with the B button instead of just L.

edit: Hmm, maybe it actually isn't for me. Type B kinda sucks when two ivan ooze guys push you into a corner.

Agree. Isn't worth the drop is IQ.

At this point, the only game I've constantly felt I NEEDED the 3D on was Mario 3D Land.

Pushmo, but also PES due to the larger field view. And Pilotwings.

In Oot e Revelation imho the 3D adds a lot in terms of atmoshpere

Is there any word on when more reviews on this might arrive? I'm really tempted to get it this friday after having played the demo but having some more reviews would help.

So I guess technology shouldn't advance because we've "been good" with outdated tech before? Do you still play your games in SD even though it doesn't add to the gameplay?

For me, atleast, 3D adds a whole lot to the atmosphere. Really sucks me in. Not every single game needs to add to the gameplay (ie. Pushmo, SM3DL)
