Resident Evil Revelaitons |OT| 3D Jill Sandwiches

One thing I noticed about shooting in RE:R that I don't like (nitpick) is that the laser dot doesn't disappear when the creature is killed and going into its death animation, like in RE4 and RE5, which means it's easier to waste ammo on a dying target.

What? I didn't know that mechanic and I played those games for a lifetime :O

I liked that little change. It makes you pay more attention to how the enemy reacts when you shoot it. Not knowing whether the enemy's dying or not added tension, too.

I tried it to be sure, if you shoot in the legs, the monsters fall and crawl. You can also break their arms and after a few seconds they regenerate.
It seems the one with spikey arms and protected head has only the torso to shoot at...

One of the things I also like is when you get thrown to the ground and you can either opt to get some shots in or mash Y and try to get up. Really adds to the game and avoid staleness.

Found this on the official blog:

Pretty cute.

The jaggies are not too bad imo - what really hurts the effect is the shimmering on some textures which is not apparent in 2D. I still like the 3D effect though, will probably go for 3D in the normal playthrough and 2D in the hell playthrough.

Yeah that might be it. Thinking on it it might just be a combo. 3d mode in this game just brings out a lot of graphical problems. I mean I'm fine with 30fps for non action games in 3d so long as the framerate is rock solid, and a little bit of jaggies is something I can overlook. This game tends to have more than it's fair share of weird graphical issues in 3d though verses 2d.

I agree with you. Really a good feeling about that part.
About 3rd or 1st, I opted for 1st in Mercenaries (for the vast majority of the time) but in some way I think that for a "normal" Resi game the right way to play is in third person.
Mikami teached me that way :p

You can switch to third-person? How?

This demo got me so excited that... I kinda want to play RE4. Never played it; currently playing re5 with brother and have some mercs 3d experience. Don't want to potentially overdose on re though, so I'm thinking of holding off.

RE 4 is amazing. You totally should

RE 4 is probably one of the greatest games ever made.

How are people playing it for more than 30 mins at a time?
Are there secret paths or something that I am missing?
Taking me 10 mins top even on Hard.
Because I'm a big wuss and I walked through every hallway super slowly in fear of something jumping out at me. Plus I take my sweet time exploring every corner of every room.

How do you get the items that you scan in the ceiling?

I'll map out the demo with all the item locations tonight...it seems people are having trouble finding some of the stuff. Hell mode is easy...there's more then enough ammo and a couple of grenades to help with everything.

I was very Maybe on this game, but the demo sold me. I'm actually excited for this now. I'll probably pick up the circle pad pro thing too, because going back to RE4 style controls after RE4 Wii and RE5 is less than comfortable.

Any deals on this anywhere? I want it, but $50... guh.
A while back Amazon had it for $39.99, so that's when I preordered. :(

I don't think it'll sell too well at $49.99; it probably won't stay that price for long. I'm sure any future deals will pop up in this thread.

Yeah, I want it, but there no way I'll buy it when it's at $50.

This demo sold me on the game and it unsold me on the circle pad pro.

I'm really short of cancelling my pre-order... I ordered the CPPro bundle at Zavvi, but after the demo I have the urge to play the game at release and not 3 weeks later. D;

Absolutely loved the atmosphere and look of the demo. Was a little worried about the monster design, but that changed after playing the demo and watching those Capcom streams. The ambient sound and nature of the enemies really made it a lot of fun.

Demo was fantastic and after watching that Raid footage posted earlier I'm even more hype than before. It reminds me in some ways of the Mercenaries mode in RE3, but now with co-op and loot. The thought and sound of that just seems incredible.

Revelations looks like it's going to have some serious re-playability and I can't wait to check out all unlockables and customization options.

Feels good to be this excited for a Resident Evil game again.

I cancelled mine and went with Amazon.co.uk
fuck the extra cost the fact it will be on time and I trust amazon is what counts

I bit the bullet and just preordered it at a local store. Sure I'm going to end up paying 15 bucks more, but to hell with that. Amazon Uk usually takes 5 days minimum to deliver to Austria (my estimate is 2 days from UK to Austria, 3 days to my home)

I have huge plans for the CPP. There is a lot of unused room in there that is simply just waiting to be equipped with extra batteries.

Preordered the CPP today. I'm still hoping there's some sort of deal in the US, where we can save a few bucks if we buy both the CPP and RE.
