Resident Evil Revelaitons |OT| 3D Jill Sandwiches

Almost done with my third playthrough, this time on Hell difficulty. Doing fairly well, as I have plenty of ammo accumulated after 2 playthroughs.

But damn...the part where you have to
reach the remote controls to launch the UAV before the satellite fries you
....sucks, on Hell.
Went for killing Rachel
on my first attempt, but ended up stepping on every trap and ran out of time....then ended up redoing that part 10 times. Glad that part is over!

But every time I retry it loads right as the boss starts.

It is do-able though; I've done it myself. If you are right at the start of that boss just start running to your right as soon as you come out of the cinematic. As long as you get to the weapon box before him and the lid opening animation starts you will be invulnerable whilst you do whatever you need to do in there.

If you need any general help with this boss check my recent posts on it. I had no end of difficulty with him at first but several GAFers gave me some really helpful tips that did the trick.

Worst load masking EVER :lol

And that's strange, considering RE1 probably had the best load masking ever. Zooming in on the door during load times is a series staple, what happened?

I just realized I don't understand something about the story...

Regarding Clive O'Brian:
What was his ruse?

Also, in Raid Stage 15 (Zenobia), I completely wiped out the cafeteria, upper and lower cabins, solarium, casino, promenade deck, bridge and deck... and still didn't get an S-rank. My time was rather efficient and my accuracy was in the 70 percentile, I think. Bah.

Yeah. I can dig their desire to want to make the experience feel seamless, but the end result has the opposite effect.

Concurred, especially since the framerate starts chugging during it.

FINALLY! Got S rank on Stage 15 Abyss (Zenobia)! Here's what I did (and by myself, in solo play):

- Completely cleared out Casino
- Completely cleared out Promenade Deck
- Completely cleared out Deck

78% accuracy, 63 enemies routed, 2672 damage.

It's that simple! In Casino, I stood on the stairs and shock grenaded the Scarmigliones as they clustered near the fountain. Then I stood on the stairs and picked off the blade-arm Ooze with my magnum. In promenade deck, I used Charge 4 on the shotgun to kill the scarmiglione when it was reduced to its tentacle form; this knocks it down when it's the fast version of the enemy, keeping it from rushing me. When I got to the main part of the promenade (the bottom floor, leading to the door out), I holed up in the closet connecting the one half of the room with the other; I would run out until the framerate stuttered, meaning an enemy had been loaded, then I retreated to the closet and killed the Hunter or Ooze as it came in, which was easy when it's in the doorway. When the Scarmiglione appeared, I grenaded it to death. I then kept repeating the closet tactic until the mini-Hunters came out; for them I used the shotgun to knock them down immediately. When you have two keys and no more enemies are spawning, head for the elevator. From there, go straight for the deck and use BOW decoys, throwing two in separate directions at a time, killing the wolves and likely catching the Hunters (who can't be distracted) in the process. Voila! S-rank!

A random I played with today helped me S-rank 15 as well, but we didn't go through the Promenade or the Casino at all. We ended up taking out 59 enemies.

We did hit up the Pool, went through the second floor past the Cafeteria, dusted off the Bridge our first time through and cleared out the rest of the Bridge once we grabbed the key from the safe in the Deck's control room.

Wait, why is everyone saying this story is so bad? NO SPOILERS PLEASE. I'm on Episode 7, and while it doesn't make a whole lot of sense and the Quint/Keith duo are awful, I still find it very entertaining.

The pacing was really off earlier, but it has picked up a lot the last couple of episodes.

Who's saying the story is bad? It's the best story in a RE to date. Had me riveted until the end -- I never knew what would happen next.

I just don't understand one part, which is
what Clive O'Brian did exactly to trick Morgan Lansdale
.

Next up for me now that I have my pink title (all S ranks on all difficulties in Raid): I will do another campaign run, either Normal or Hell. Probably Normal, for now.

I have question about the RAID mode. Do the stuff you buy like 'HERB' and 'AMMO' stay forever in your inventory or is it just for that one round you are playing after the purchase?

Final boss is actually kinda tough. Really bad part is that if you realize you didn't bring the best weapons, you can't re-equip since the game autosaves.

HUH??? You are talking about campaign right?
The Green Box is available during the boss fight. I had equipped hand gun on my many failed attempts. I finished him off finally by grabbing the rocket launcher from the box and shot him and then exchanged it magnum and finished him off.

IIRC,
O'Brian collaborated with Raymond to stage the resurrection of Veltro, thus drawing out Morgan so he could be dealt with (since Morgan thought he had already eliminated Veltro). He was forced to use Jill and Parker as bait

In what way were Jill and Parker bait? O'Brian didn't put the monsters on the ships; they already were on the ships, left over from the experiments Morgan had done on Veltro to produce the vaccine. Which puzzles me: Did Morgan just intend to leave those two ships adrift, even though they were full of monsters? Was it only when Morgan thought Veltro was back that he appeared, sending Jessica to destroy what he should've destroyed awhile ago?

Jesus christ fuck this final boss.

Here, have a fraction of a second to figure out which one to shoot with controls and a camera that aren't nearly cooperative enough to do so.

Here, have a guy who just teleports behind you and stabs you faster than you can turn around, and with an attack that hits you no matter how far you run. I mean you could try to make use of the game's broken dodge mechanic. Haha. Have fun with that! Seriously, what was wrong with "DODGE L+R"? Worked perfectly fine in RE4.

Oh and the one that isn't exclusive to this boss at all, but remains an issue: Here, have a boss who can take 8 million goddamn shots, becase that's fun, right?

This game's fun when it's fun, but these bosses are just terrible.

It definitely takes getting used to, but dodging does get it easier with time. It's not perfect, but yeah, timing is everything.

Hate the steam glitch on stage 18 >.<

Oh, I hate it so much. I have things I'd like to unlock there and get done with, but the last 3 times I tried to play online in Abyss mode, it glitched out and only one of us made it through each time. Drove me nuts.

back into a corner, use your most powerful weapon to stop the final move set, look for
purple gas indicating the real one. If you still have trouble open the weapons box as he charges at you.

Morgan and O'Brian already clashed before at Terragrigia, so imagine his reaction when he discovers BSAA agents investigating a former Veltro hideout that may contain evidence of his dealings with them. He already knows O'Brian is suspects foul play and I'm sure O'Brian knows he does. I guess O'Brian was hoping Morgan would play his hand sooner then he was planning to and reveal something incriminating in the process.
I'm also assuming Morgan left the ships afloat because he might need them later on to initiate another "Terragrigia Panic" himself, since the ships contained the T-Abyss virus and were "hidden" in an area that only a few had access to.

So are we to assume Morgan knew where the twin ships were, and he knew they were full of infected? And that O'Brian legitimately didn't know what was on the ships, only that they may have had ties to Morgan, and were thus worth investigating? And to put pressure on Morgan, O'Brian had all of these Veltro hideouts -- the ships with Jill and Parker, the mountain base with Chris and Jessica -- being investigated?

I think if you look at just this game then the story was great and in fact it was one of the main things that kept me wanting to play more in order to find out what was going to happen next.

However imo, if you look it as a whole and put the story in the RE universe it becomes overly cheesy in the sense that shit got out of hands completely. Up until 3 and CV the story was under control imo, but with the RE games that came afterwards we are pretty much getting a new city/region/country infected with a new form of virus or parasite. I understand that RE is just a videogame series and it's Capcom's most successful franchise and therefore they will milk this to the end, but do they really have to create all these huge large scale viral outbreaks that infect entire cities? Seems waayy too "unreal" imo.

also what is the criteria to get the harder difficulty levels for raid mode

edit:
did get a game ruining glitch,
on the escape the ship level, which was timed, forget the level name & Number. on the part where you climb the ladder only to have it explode behind you, I couldn't exit the door, my partner could but I couldn't, a restart sorted it out

anyone else get this or any glitches that may affect gameplay?

The FBC were still developing the T-Abyss vaccine on the Queen Zenobia post-Terragrigia, possibly up until shortly before the events of Revelations. A file just specifies "2005".

Anyways, finished Hell Mode tonight. Damn, the final boss was ridiculous. Took me 3 tries, and took me until my last bit of remaining health to do it. Glad I had stockpiled up a lot of ammo in my first 2 playthroughs, as well as using my shotgun sparingly (and not using my magnum at all) during my Hell Mode run.

Experienced a few glitches tonight. I failed at the (Ch. 7 spoiler)
"get to the UAV remote controls" section a bunch of times
, and on one occasion, my 3DS completely froze up and I had to power it off. Also, in Episode 11, I ran into a really funny glitch during a cutscene. When
Parker dresses Raymond's wound, the video ended up slowing down and got way behind the audio. You would hear Raymond say "I think I can walk" well before he gets up", and then the 10 or so remaining seconds of the cutscene were in silence!

Raid mode, stage 18 has a glitch. It's a pain but normally someone can finish the level. Have no clue what sets this glitch off though. seems random.

No, it shouldn't be. I haven't changed the battery one time after over 30 hours of playtime.

im around dude. in chat

Do you carry it around? It reactivates when you press the shoulderbuttons. Maybe it's that.

It's supposed to be 480 hours of continuous usage, though. If you factor in inactivity it's supposed to be able to last years, probably the 3DS's lifetime. And it's only been 300 hours since the CPP was released!

Personally I put in the batteries that came with it and it's still fine, so I really don't know.

I shared your hatred of him on my first Campaign playthrough but some kind GAFers gave me some good tips which really helped. On my second playthrough he was much easier. Check up the thread if you want some more tips other than those given by the following fellow. Once you get used to his movements you will find that he is almost waiting for you to shoot him. His wind up to strike is actually pretty long when you get into the groove of how to tackle him.

Thanks! I'll add that to my tactics armoury :).

Finish the first to unlock the second and the second to unlock the third. Yes? Does it not show up in your Raid mode Missions?

router is kaput -_-

How so?

One random story question"
During one of the later chapters where Jill and Chris are partnered in the lab Jill picks up the antidote to the T-Abyss virus. I don't know whether it's mandatory or not but Jill can inject herself with it and she says "I hope this works". Did I miss something where she became infected with the T-Abyss virus?

The comm officer ooze screaming "Mayday! Mayday! This is the Queen Zenobia.." as the door rattles is the most chilling moment I've experienced in a resident evil game since RE2.

Chapter 3, just completed, and I'm still kind of shaking. That was terrifying, and I'm going to take a break for awhile. Game = so gooood!

Gameflied the game last week, sent it back after making my way through Chapter 3 (so I wouldn't invest any more time into a rented copy), and just now finished Chapter 2 again. I seem to have done worse my second time through. Ah well.

Not sure how I feel about the way your health is determined. Though I appreciate what they're going for, the blood splatter on the screen obscures your view. On the other hand, I could very well learn to love that, since it does add more of a challenge to the game and seems to give you a real reason to be more careful overall, almost in that Demon's Souls kinda way.

Dodging is still a bit hit-and-miss for me. I kinda wish they had just mapped that to a button somehow -- perhaps just B at the right time, rather than up on the circle pad. As it is, you have to purposely stop and then hope your command is read separately from simple movement. It's cool, though, that it was added as an actual mechanic in this game, as opposed to the canned scenes of RE4/5. This is still probably the best money I've spent yet on a 3DS game.

If you don't do it,
Jill will die immediately when the virus/water floods the lab. So yeah, it's mandatory.
