Man I finished this last night and this is legitimately the first time since 4 that I've really enjoyed myself with a new RE title. Bravo capcom.

Just midway through Episode 4 I can already say:

behind EA Access, this is the greatest value I ever had in gaming.
Raid Mode takes it over the top

just finished this morning

I got the good ending, which was pretty cool

how does the other ending stack up, is it worth replaying to see or is an explanation good enuogh on how its differnt.

does it make the creepy natalie scene at the end make more sense?

is there any resolution to what makes
her special lor where she came from

or was it explained and I missed it?

So I replayed the whole game up to the
Neil
part to get the good ending.

And yea that part is still wishy washy. The fact that Moira doesn't move at first when you start pressing forward to crawl. Which is pretty much how I missed it the first time.

I will likely skip Barry's next part (ch 3) and skip right to ch 4 so I can get to the good ending quicker.

The bad ending
is right when Monster Alex grabs Natalia
. You can see the bad ending here.

Here's what happened:
Alex Wesker wants to live forever. The way she will accomplish "immortality" is by copying her mind to a computer and uploading it to a new body whenever she needs one. This way, her will can transcend time. However, she is effectively cloning her mind. When she killed herself, she felt fear for the first time; she had taken t-Phobos to show her mastery of fear, but since she felt fear in her final moment, the virus transformed her. So now there were TWO Alex Weskers -- Monster Alex, and Alex inside Natalia. Monster Alex hates this; she suspects the copy of herself inside Natalia is mocking her (as per the last note you find). That's why Monster Alex wants to kill Natalia; she sees the Alex in Natalia as the "false one." Another note in the game says it will take six months for the copy of Alex's mind to overtake Natalia's. So in the bad ending, this process is hastened when Monster Alex squeezes the life out of Natalia and the copy of Alex inside Natalia takes over, bolstered by the power of t-Phobos. In the good ending, we see the process taking place naturally, with time, the copy of Alex inside Natalia beginning to exert control. If you play the extra episode, "Little Miss," you can see what this power struggle looks like inside Natalia's head. The real Natalia isn't gone; she is trapped inside her own head, with Alex in control.

So I replayed the whole game up to the
Neil
part to get the good ending.

And yea that part is still wishy washy. The fact that Moira doesn't move at first when you start pressing forward to crawl. Which is pretty much how I missed it the first time.

Please add spoiler tags, like I did in this quote. :)

And I agree that she should immediately start crawling so it's more apparent. Although the fact it asks the player to switch characters makes it clear enough there's something you can do with Moira.

I think you can just replay that chapter, and not the whole game from the beginning.

Just finished with the good ending

This was a fuckin amazing game, pretty close to 4 & 5 for how much i enjoyed it

Capcom give these guys a shitload of money and let 'em make Resident Evil 7 FFS

i'll repeat this every thread, i don't care, this is what Resident Evil was all about!

Honestly, I don't even need RE7 from these guys. I'd gladly take more of Revelations 2 quality and budget, since it was far better than 5 and 6, and hope that they do more $25 Season Pass / $40 retail Resident Evils. I think they could start a great market revival of those mid tier level production games if they really pushed for it and maybe others would jump in.

By no means is Revelations 2 an AAA game, but it's easily a 9/10 for me.

All revelations 2 is really missing for me is the emphasis on melee combat that RE5 had, RE6's melee was totally different and great in its own way but for me RE5's was perfect.
You had the head daze melee finisher, the leg shot finisher, the arm stun finisher, and the rear finishers. That stuff was so fun.

The lack of head shot explosions kind of hurts as well, I know it sounds ultra violent but head shot explosions have been around since the first RE. So I was kind of shocked this game didn't have any. I'm betting they just didn't have the time/budget to put them in.

I agree 100%

I don't even want big-budget resident evil games anymore after seeing what six became and comparing it to this game.

How do I beat the final boss?

The non spoiler version - Shoot it until it dies.

The spoiler version
seriously shoot it until it dies, if you're referring to the boss fight where alex wesker is crawling around and dropping down from vents and stuff. She'll reveal her weak point while she's dangling down but her weak point isn't the only place she takes damage, she takes damage on her whole body as long as you see splatters on hit.

If you're referring to the bonus good version boss also just shoot it until it dies.

Shoot it until it's dead.
Any part you hit of her counts as damage. The "easiest" way to kill her is have Exploding Bottles going into the fight and chuck them at her. A couple will get her laying prone on her back pretty fast with her main weakpoint exposed. Pump Magnum and Assault Rifle rounds into it asap. Other than that - just keep laying into her. You don't have to shoot just the weak point, it just massively speeds things up, and all of the damage eventually adds up.

Anyone able to extract the game's cutscene audio files? The PC version's audio files are encrypted (as is the exe). They're in OGG Vorbis format contained in .sngw containers like previous games, but the method of simply renaming the files to .ogg no longer works thanks to the encryption.

There are two variants (one with BGM, one with sound effects) that I assume need to be muxed. I can't really record the cutscene audio manually because the menu music bleeds into the videos from the gallery and I can't record the videos manually because there are a lot of dropped frames when this game loads something, and I can't stand either of these.

This looks great!

I need to decide if I'm picking up this or Bloodborne after work....

I don't know what to do...
Since Bloodborne will last you a few hundred years and will receive a performance patch in the coming weeks, I'd recommend knocking out RER2 in the meantime.

The best Resident Evil since RE4. It was amazing. And I loved RE5. This hit all the right notes. Raid Mode is amazing. I'm glad I went digital with PS4 to experience the episodic trickle, but I love the game so much I might get the physical copy for Xbox One.

In the game, she makes a perfect vessel for Alex to transfer her will to, because she doesn't show fear especially when parents has died in terragrigia incident. Its weird because she seems to be afraid and all throughout the game.

I stopped playing right after I finished the game
with both endings, (wow that good ending was absolutely amazing. Literally lost my shit when Barry dropped the "I have this!" line, so classic. Barry has always had an action movie badass quality to him, and this shit just cemented it)
and I've been kinda putting off the extra episodes. Do they add to the game at all, or do they just feel tacked on?

Regardless, Raid mode is fun, so I've still got that to go onto, honestly didn't expect
that extra difficulty after clearing the last Raid mission
.

Best Resident Evil since four, easily.

I think she shows a ridiculous amount of courage, actually. Not sure if her 'fear' is actually just fear for the safety of Barry. I mean, a good example is when you find Gabe, all burned and horrible, but the one thing Natalya notices and comments on is the 'bracelet', and how Moira told her it makes them 'sisters'. Maybe it's just a contextual issue, but that's just weird.

Played some of Episode 2 last night from Barry's campaign....awesome vibe and setting....the game is really starting to get more and more interesting. Although the graphics such as texture detail and bump/normal mapping are quite crap the game looks awesome in some areas. The grea use of lighting and particle effects like fog really help to set an awesome atmosphere which is classic RE. Also the level design and locales really help with the RE4/5 feels.

So yea....getting more and more into it the further I progress although whoever came up with the idea for 1 hit kill invisible enemies should be shot. Even Barry at one point says "....this will be fun". If the game creators are so aware that this type of enemy is going to give players the shits, why even put them in the game? Just mind boggling retarted stuff imo. I broke out the magnum just so I could be done with them and luckily didn't miss a single shot. BAM!!

Wow, thanks for all the responses guys!
honestly I think you'd be fine just diving straight into RER2. Also, RE4 is highly recommended.
I hear there's some big reveal late in the game that is awesome for longtime RE fans or something so I don't really want to miss out on that.
Include the rail shooters too, they are fun and have a lot of story. new content as well as retelling RE2 and CV,
If i were to make a list ranking all the RE games, i would include them, as they deserve a spot even if low
wait you dont have Code Veronica on your list?.
You forgot Resident Evil Code Veronica. You might want to consider the 2 RE Chronicles game too, which are basically retelling of the main RE games (in summarized form) with new bits that fills in the missing games.

Didn't know about Code Veronica, haha. Will consider the rail shooters too, do they contain any important plot info and anything relevant to RER2?

That order sounds about right. There's just one problem. Classic Barry and REmake Barry are completely different characters. Rev2 basically canonized classic Barry.
Uh oh, I'm assuming there's no way to play REmake with classic Barry, right? I could pick up the original RE (maybe the DS port or something) instead of/before REmake if the difference between REmake Barry and RE/RER2 Barry is too jarring...
Swap Code Veronica for RE0. RE0 is kind of irrelevant anyway and there are indications that it will be remastered like REmake HD so just wait.

It isn't too bad going from REmake to RE2. That's how I did it back in 2002 and just did it again a few weeks ago. REmake has some cool added mechanics that are missing in RE2 but RE2 is still good stuff.

However when you play REmake HD, do not use the new non-tank control option if you plan to play RE2, RE3, and RE:CV. Those games do not have that control option and it will be very jarring if you aren't already used to it.
Alright, I'll hold out for a remaster of RE0.
Hey! I'm in the exact same situation: I never played a RE game before, although I've been meaning to do it for years now. I started my journey a few weeks ago and so far I'm three games down, currently playing my fourth one. The order I went was:

 1. RE HD Remaster (PC)
 2. RE Zero (GC through Wii U)
 3. RE2: Claire A/Leon B (GC through Wii U)
 4. RE3: Nemesis (GC through Wii U) <= Currently here
 5. RE:CVX (GC through Wii U)
 6. RE4HD (PC)
 7. RE5 (PC)
 8. RE6 (PC)
 9. RERev (PC)
 10. RERev2 (PC)

I decided to play Zero after RE1 mainly because a. they are directly connected, b. REZ constains some spoilers for RE1 (and some minor spoilers/foreshadowing for RE2) c. they play very similarly (more so than RE2, 3 and CVX).

I played RE1 with the option to move forwards with a shoulder button, but, strangely enough, RE0 didn't have that control scheme (even though RE2, RE3 and CVX have it!). I played through Zero using the classic tank controls and by now I'm fully used to it.

I'm considering playing the gun games on Wii, but, meh. Not really that interested on them.
Thanks for the help! Are the tank controls better anyways? Also, when you say Claire A/Leon B are those certain campaigns in the game or something?

Should I go with this order except without RE0 in case of a remaster?:
RE HD --> RE0 --> RE2 --> RE3 --> RE: Umbrella Chronicles (Wesker Chapters, Rebecca Chapters, Ada Chapter and Jill/Chris new scenario) --> RE: Code Veronica --> RE: Darkside Chronicles (Leon new scenario) --> RE4 --> RE4: Separate Ways --> RE: Revelations --> RE5: Lost in Nightmares [DLC] --> RE5 --> Revelations 2 --> RE6
Also, just curious, how come for the Chronicles Games you only picked certain scenarios/chapters?

Those enemies are great. Do you know you can switch to Natalia to see them? It becomes a matter of switching to Natalia for a point of reference and then switching back to try and hit the enemy around that reference point. You can also shoot extinguishers or throw smoke bottles to expose their locations. They're fine.

I've been kinda putting off the extra episodes. Do they add to the game at all, or do they just feel tacked on?

Yes definitely, they fill in some of the gaps that were real head-scratchers from the campaign. The Struggle's gameplay and story is awesome and Little Miss is like a different genre completely.

Huh? They are fun. They give you so much warning that they're there and they move so slowly that it can only be the players fault for getting killed. It's how a one-hit-kill enemy should be, and adds an extra layer of tension and strategy.

To Revelations 2? not necessarily, but they have a lot of connections to RE4, RE5, CV,Umbrella itself, etc,
The reason Ada Wong included certain portions is likely because the Chronicles games have new chapters on certain spots, even ones that happen at the same time as the main games, to fill the gaps.
That is the chronological order but im not sure the best way to play them, it could be a mess to play the games in story order.

Classic Barry and REmake Barry are completely different characters. Rev2 basically canonized classic Barry.

This is a good point. Although it's arguable that neither iteration of the first game is truly canonized outside a fixed chain of events shared by both (or all three if you want to include Umbrella Chronicles I), and one specific outcome being set in stone out of a possible several.

I'd actually recommend playing both of the first REs to anyone interested anyway, they're both classics and different enough to surprise anyone playing for the first time.

Oh, what'd be the release order of that list? Man, this series is so complicated.

If I do play the original, I'm assuming it'd be better to play it before the Remaster (and leave some time in between them to prevent from getting burnt out). Anyone here have any experience with the DS port? How is it?

If you want to fully appreciate the twists in RER2, just play the following:

- REmake HD
- Revelations 1
- RE5 + Lost in Nightmare

Claire may be from RE2, but in terms of references, it's mostly those three games to which direct connections are made.

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Or because Claire has absolutely no connections to her character from previous games aside from the name and hair. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Whenever a game uses "middleware," I expect mediocrity. Just see how poor TLOU looks.
This game was amazing. Out of all the Resident Evils I've played, it may actually be my favorite even though my fave character Chris isn't even in it. But it's got Claire!

The only mainline games I haven't played yet are 1, 2 and 3. I'm hoping for a retail release of REmaster in the future to at least play 1.

I don't like horror or zombies, but something about Resident Evil keeps me coming back. I think it's the characters, love the main cast.

You don't necessarily need to play the original game. There are literally dozens of videos on youtube showcasing the game's voice acting. Such as this one.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVyOCssIXgQ

Some fans have even made music videos off the game's dialogue.
