F.E.A.R doesn't have some crappy particle effects system. Sparks are only produced when bullets hit something made of steel at a high velocity. My guess is that there are enemies behind the player who are trying to avoid hurting their squad and hitting the lockers or the ceiling instead

Post Processing effects. They are basically filters added at the final stages to give games a gritty or realistc look, they enhance lighting big time. And the best exaple of properly used PPEs is hitman blood money on 360 or PC. You can really see the difference in the pc version

You need a good PC if you really want to see the difference. I mean the jump from no PPE's to high ppe's is shocking. My jaw as on the floor seriously! The lighting looked soo good! God damn I wish I hand't unistalled the game otherwise I would take pics of the difference
