yeah that model looks great! I wonder what's he aiming at though
my guess would be a chimera, but that's just a guess. He could be about to put a hole in his crazzy ex-gf for all we know

The human model there is easily one of the very best I've seen in any game shown to date. Very nice. There's certainly nothing on the market that compares at the moment.

Well since you brought up the comparison, I'd like to state that the models in Dead Rising look just as good (in cut scenes).

Has it been revealed "who you play" in Resistance yet?
Who's the hero?!

It's been known since E3. You play the bald guy named Nathan Hale that people have been posting pics of. He's apart of the US military that has been sent to Britain to help contain the Chimera offensive.

Thanks.
I guess all of the talk of the alternate history and cool weapons overshadowed the actual character of the game for me.

Resistance: Fall of Man follows U.S. Army Ranger, Sgt. Nathan Hale, who has gone missing during combat against the Chimera. In a few decades, the Chimera – a species of unknown origin has overrun Russia, Asia, and all of Europe. The next four days are chronicled in the game. The U.S. and Britain band together in a last-ditch effort to save Europe and Asia from a horrific scourge from the hands of the Chimera. It's up to Nathan Hale to band together with what's left of humanity and defend the world from the Chimera.
Sounds badass.

It's pretty close, but not quite as good.

That picture of resistance is from July 31! They have implemented a lot of effects since then :P

edit: ahh you edited: that picture is even older

Lets not compare final builds to incomplete ones

gimme another shoot with the gun :p

btw , even with this old screen , there is a gen leap between those 2 games :D

Isn't it England? ~_~

Anyway I think there will be other environments that are different. Damn the embargoes.

when they raise the embargo you are gonna explode man!!

Im with you though...cannot ****ing wait.

Wow you went for the low blow.

PDZ looks great. The game has some really good shader work but according to Insomniac or amriox's Insomniac online contact they started adding effects (to Resistance) after the game reached the beta stage and it did so very recently.

I don't know what you are trying to demonstrate here, but PDZ is actually a very impressive game and remains one of the most technically impressive titles on the XBOX360. It's failings lie in other areas.

Unfortunately, the framerate is garbage and brings down the excellent visuals. The textures in particular crush most games on the 360 at this point.

So will this Tuesdayton show the game after the effects were added in?

of course! There is a reason why Sony has kept most of its first and second party games under wraps for so long. I think they will all turn out great graphically.

They aren't saying what level of the build will be on. I think they've only commented on the TGS demo which they've said will be of a newer build.

Who knows, but I think it will. The added polish, lighting, and extra effects went in just the beginning of this month according to the guys at Insomniac. Hopefully they've had enough time to show it off. But I don't see a reason why they wouldn't. If this build is the one that's going to really impress us then that's what they need to show regardless of how long it takes.

Kinda off topic, but does anybody know what the longest first person shooter is? (talking single player of course, i know some of you like to be funny ;) )

At this stage in the game, you should be comparing

That first stage of Pd0 was nowhere to be seen until launch.

Wow, that was quick :lol

Red Faction
Medal of Honor Allied Assualt
Halo
Half Life 2

They are all pretty long. But I guess Red Faction is takes the longest time to beat

So what's all this talk about tuesday about?

There is a press only event happening on tuesday, but it's embargoed. Therefore, we won't be hearing shit about it for a long (?) time.

Embargoes are so stupid. They do NOT need to wait until some magazine goes to press for the information to come out.

How exactly is the embargo "awesome" for anyone who's interested in the title?

I'm sure we'll get some details trickling down, and I can't imagine the footage not being publically availiable for long given the PS3's launch not being too far away

Fight Night 3 says hi.

Only 2 characters on screen says hi + less detailed referee and shitty looking crowd. Resistance is capable of at least 40 of them on screen :lol

Nice try though.

I dont know why you guys compare this game to PDZ. I think they are in different league.

Because they're both launch titles for their respective consoles from the same genre.

Of course, the reality is that PD0 is just shit cakes.

Wrong nothing matches Fight night 3 character models due like you said because there is only 2 charcters on screen. They have enough resources to do it, but there is no way in bleeming hell resistance charaters matches FN3. Nice try sonybot

Far Cry (PC) has to be up there. 20 huge maps/missions, along with most of the outdoor levels being pretty open ended. Big big game (with its share of flaws).

If there's one thing I'd like to see FoM take a nod from Far Cry its freeing up the on-rails HL2/CoD approach a bit. Crytek hasn't been matched since in that regard. I know its harder to achieve with an urban setting so I wouldnt expect anything as open as FC's repeating jungles, but a nice balance between scripted action and a variety of waypoints would be welcome. With Insom's inventive weapon combos and strategy that would add a nice layer to the tactics involved.
