So I just finished FF7 on the Playstation I just bought. Sephiroth hit Cloud and his health became 7777. Needless to say, I didn't get to enjoy One Winged Angel.

broke af but tons of stuff on everdrives to explore. just finished 140 hours of persona 5 (...) this week, i have Nier: automata & RE7 on deck but i need some classic shit in between, literally can't do more than a couple modern games without diving into something archaic in between. sure, yakuza kiwami is due out in a few months, but i gotta finish rise of the dragon first.

I'd love to play it but I wouldn't feel right reading a website with a translation the whole time. I think there's a translation project but that's not finished yet?

Yeah, I was fucking depressed after I finished Persona 5. Such a good fucking game. Felt empty without it
Anyway, I do need to get Wonder Boy -- glad it gets your seal of approval. I was waiting for the PC release on the 8th, but I dunno... kinda torn between that and the Switch version. I'll get both eventually. Well, I guess if the game comes out on PC and has issues, as PC ports still so often seem to, I'll just get it on Switch for now and call it good.

i mean, get it where you can - game's not very demanding, you're likely gonna get a solid entry anywhere
having tried it on FM synth recently, the ability to switch up both video & audio on the fly is so, so dope. what's cooler is you can see where the newer arranged OST works with what's originally there & just builds, only a few areas so far did something beyond that.
the game literally gives you new abilities as you go & tells you nowhere to go next, you just have to look at your new character & piece it together. i love it.

Been playing Tokyo Mirage Sessions. The battle system is so cool but I'm not that into the whole like idol shit. At least they have the best "use of the gamepad as a 2nd screen" I've ever seen -- you get LINE messages from your friends on there as like a quest log. It's so novel every time it goes buzz buzz.
Also almost done Star Ocean 2. I'm taking my sweet time with it cause, while I like a lot of things about it, the battle system is a pile of garbage and if I play for more than 2 hours at a time it really starts to get to me.

I've been eagerly awaiting any info surrounding 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim since this TGS trailer from 2 years ago.
Muramasa: The Demon Blade is probably in my top ten games. I'd love to give Princess Crown a go, but I heard it's half princess sim and without English option, I think I'd be SOL.

No idea. I can read enough Japanese that I only need to reference the internet occasionally.
The game looks fantastic. The battle system is interesting. When you get into a random encounter you are placed into a 1-on-1 fighting game style match. I'm getting the hang of it but I think a few iterations on it could have been great.
I guess Odin Sphere is very similar. I haven't played it yet so I don't know.

Of those, I've only ever played Dragon's Crown. That's more like Dungeons and Dragons than this though.

Vita version for sure. Wouldn't be surprised if it gets another release sometime relatively soon, though, tbh. Moreover, if you can, play it on an oled Vita. I don't own one, but the colours are to die for with that screen. Absolutely amazing.

Hope it's about 20 bucks cause they had a rerelease of PS2 games few years back. I had bought that along with Odins Spear.

Star Ocean 1 was "set in generic fantasy world." People had the same complaint about 3. Like the whole series is just "what would happen if someone from star trek violated the prime directive?"

IDK, they always seemed to try to present themselves as sci-fi initially. I get the distaste.People complaining about what's going on in Star Ocean puzzles me.
It's clear from the start it's going to be your typical high fantasy jRPG. At the very least by the third game you really have no excuses
Also they're not great games.
