Debatable.
Lol, yeah I guess. But as an 8-bit lover as well, the result of the debate doesnt really matter much for me in the end.
Beautiful!
Thanks!

Which 16 or 32 bit game system was the one that output in 480i? Was that the Jaguar or the PCE? Or something else completely?
I think that was the 3do.
Also you forgot to do the math. The jaguar isn't 32bit lol
Also, wouldn't it be just as debatable to call it 8-bit?Lol, yeah I guess. But as an 8-bit lover as well, the result of the debate doesnt really matter much for me in the end.
Yeah 3D0.Which 16 or 32 bit game system was the one that output in 480i? Was that the Jaguar or the PCE? Or something else completely?

This is my first time as well. Wasnt even remotely popular in Europe, and Im not sure it was even sold here in Norway. So happy that i now get to explore a completely new (for me) 16-bit library.
Yeah 3D0.
Man what a bust the 3D0 was.
FunfactIt had some alright games. I loved the 3D0 long-boxes. The market was so saturated at the time, it never stood a chance.
Funfact
A lot of the people who made the Amiga worked on the 3Do
That's interesting. I when I was 13 I worked in a video store part time that had 3D0's for rent. I used to take home left over inventory to play after the store closed. I recall the 'Demolition Man' game being kinda cool at the time. While the system was neat, even at the time I felt like it lacked identity. Most of the games could be found on other platforms it felt like. Even then, I didn't quite understand the incentive anyone would have to choose it over the competition.
Is that a better/more reliable solution, compared to the Turbo Duo, which I often see mentioned on that regard due to its tendency to fail?
Yeah 3D0.
Man what a bust the 3D0 was.
It came out almost two years before the PSOne and Saturn in the US, there was nothing like it at the time.
While people played Mario Kart, we were playing Crash'n'Burn. The Horde was fun, same with Total Eclipse (which was prety impressive at the time).
Also the 3Do, on a hardware/OS level had tons of identity. RJ Mical designed one of the most advamced OSes at the time, a clear evolution of Amiga OS on many points.
I see, thanks! The interface unit is probably a little less or maybe equal to a Duo. The Duo R/RXs are the most reliable.

Bah, just spent 2 days re-doing my entire gaming and retro setup and I'm getting weird issues with my Genesis through RGB to Framemeister. The picture spazzes out every ~10 seconds, the color looks muted and the sound is off. Kind of irritating since I don't really have a good way to troubleshoot this, since it could be the genesis itself (mine has always had weird issues since I was a kid), the SCART cable, or even the SCART splitter I'm using. But I don't have another genesis or SCART cable to test with, and getting a new one of either would be pricey for something that might not fix the issue, I don't have any other cables to test the genesis with, and testing the splitter involves un-doing a lot of my work setting up all my other stuff. Ah well, prob gonna leave it for a bit since I very rarely play my genesis anyway, everything else works perfectly so at least I'm happy with that. It is surprisingly complicated to get a setup working where all retro and modern consoles feed into one TV properly, especially with modern TVs coming with only 1 or 2 HDMI inputs these days.
Also random aside, but I'm not really sure how the Framemesiter works with HDMI input, can I use it as a pass-thru for a "modern" system? For example, have my Xbox 360 go into the framemesiter's HDMI in and just pass the signal via HDMI out to my TV? Or does the Framemeister always do some kind of processing that you can't disable that would make this non-optimal? (I'm OK with some added input lag). I almost never play my 360 anyway but I want it hooked up anyway and I'm one HDMI input short for my setup.
ARMS is fucking AMAZING! I have been playing it all day today and it's surprisingly deep. It feels like an old school fighter too after you really understand the controls and move sets of all the characters.
It took me like 7 or so hours to really get comfortable with it though. It's a very steep learning curve I'm not used to. But now the timing is second nature.

congrats on fixing it!I fucking finally managed to get my Famicom AV mod to work! Spent the whole weekend wiring and rewiring.
Now to celebrate by spending the rest of my Sunday with some SMB!
I've been playing with motion controls. It's hot in NYC so I have actually been getting sweaty playing this game which is rare for me even with motion controlled games.Motion controls dominate non-motion.
For a retro spin, for a new control paradigm, compare it to Street Fighter II - whose special moves literally required specific non-logical moves and timings to be rote learned. The Dragon punch motion is far less logical than anything in Arms.
Maybe in 20+ years from now.=pMotion controls dominate non-motion.
Just saw this amazing thing on Twitter:
Brook Converter for PS1 and PS2. So if you have any fighting games on those systems, you can use your godly PS3 or PS4 era arcade stick with them. I'll probably be picking this up.
Next step is for them to release something like this for DC. and Saturn. and SNES. and Genesis.
So, is the Brook stuff actually good? I remember converters being laggy back when I cared about them, but their stuff seems to be pretty highly regarded... from what I can tell?
Yeah I can't see a skilled motion player being touched by a button user. I only get physically pushed by a special flurry, need to work on that being less frantic lol.I've been playing with motion controls. But I have no interest in learning to play it on my pro controller. Once you get acclimated, motion controls do feel like second nature in ARMS.

Honestly? None. They all have garbage artefacts. What's the best of the crappy composite to HDMI upscalers on Amazon right now? I've already tried one that actually offset my image to the left of screen, and I have no idea what the deal with that was.

I'm surprised the LaserActive only has composite out and no s-video out. The more you know!
Crossposting from the Gamecube thread, just picked up an American Gamecube.
My bargain turned up!
£107 for the GC, component cables (i assume are official as the markings are on them), Rogue Leader, Rebel Strike and a freeloader! Slight snafu in the fact there's no AV cable so I have no audio atm and the controllers triggers are screwed, but that can be rectified for about £20.
Felt guilty buying this especially as the seller knew component cables were rare and even put in his listing they were rare and pricey, but the fact he didnt list them in his title meant most probably overlooked it!
Crystal Chronicles and Wave Race were bought separately for about a tenner.
If you want to run them through a monitor, you should get a scandoubler.Laserdisc is a composite analogue format. Even if I was to get RGB output from it through modification, it wouldn't actually display Laserdisc material. Laseractive games would only show the Genesis made bits.
Hmm, are there any capture cards that will take composite and be relatively lag free? If that was possible, I could run games through a computer to a monitor.
i think that's where i went when i was in south jersey.
