Whats in the patch? Did they announce any meta changes?
There's no announcement anywhere on what the patch did, yet. It's worth noting that Housemarque didn't release patch notes for the launch patch either. I'm guessing this is something arbitrary since it's so soon after the release of the game; perhaps a bug they found right before the game went gold. It's way too soon for it to be a response to anything the playing public has complained about (saves, crashes, etc).

Try melee and dodge first phase. Melee second phase early then move away and just dodge shoot and hard dodge when he tries to melee and when he does the laser
Yeah I need to melee more. I just need to have 2 lives and a health pack. I don’t dodge his melee well

Then we should wait and revisit and grab all the healing items at once before moving to the next area...

So basically EVERYTIME in the first biome you just need to progress without grabbing green healing items... and before to move on where you need to go... return and collect all them at once while also get enough moolah to buy you an astronaut and a large medkit
If you don't take any damage or just a bit this would be the most efficient way.

parasites are great for a non-maligmant run. majority of the downsides of the parasites are the malfunctions. if you avoid malignant items you good.
And there is really no risk involved with at least reading the description of the parasite.

Game is AMAZING theres no way around it. People are doing themselves a huge disservice if they think watching someone stream play this game is equivalent to playing it. It plays and feels amazing, level design, lore etc. all top notch. If concerned about difficulty there are tons of helpful tips across the web and youtube now that make things much easier, take the time to view them.

They hit it out of the park with this one!

Yep, it is annoying AF tho.

Once you reach the fourth biome, how do you return(al) to the first? I read online that you can via a door in the ship, but it is always locked for me.

I was talking about returning to the ship to heal, sometimes you have to do a lot of walking to return, plus a couple of short unskippable cutscene when she sleep and woke up.
oh sorry my dude.

i really need to start doing that. if i had just a couple of consumables i could be in a better position.

there are, but they are quite easy to avoid.

for example the negative side of the revival parasite is when you respawn you respawn with 2 malfucntions, that could mean victory so i think the risk is worth it. but avoid those with weird malfunctions like ''take damage when pick up items'' those are shit
Have you read my post to the end? :messenger_grinning:

Edit: Thanks for reading to the end!

You just need to go out of the spaceship and enter again to use the bed multiple times.
For sure? I didn't know this. Easy mode detected! :messenger_winking:

Consumables except for medkit and malfunctions cleanser are kinda lame or useless for me tbh.

They don't really change the flow of the game that much.

yeah, i was talking about those. if i had a medkit which, i could have but i was lazy and overconfident that i could beat the second boss without it
now that I'm learning the good items i feel good for tonights run
That's why i love this game is a daily thing now.

The door opens after you beat the game.

Than you can decide Biome 1-3 or 4-6.
I need to understand more of this, so you turn off the console you start from biome one, but if you die in biome 4 you start at biome 4 but you can't return to previois biomes?!

What if want to grind some life, artifacts etc. Before going forward in biome 4-6? Does the character remain with all the upgrades when you start in biome 4?!

:messenger_grinning_smiling: There is one that shoots enemies and flies by your side. Highly effective! Have you even unlocked all yet?

I don't think so. Either 1-3 or 4-6 and the rest will be like the first time you play through the game. Upgrades won't carry over.

What the shit? So if i die in biome 4 i have to restart on biome 4 with zero upgrades?! So short life bar, etc.??

Oh boy having a 30 sec companion who shoot enemies has to be super OP...

I prefer artifacts over consumables.
I just wanted to say that there is something meaningful to every consumable although some are dependent on your playstyle.

If it is true what you said and it is possible to use the bed to heal yourself as often as you want someone could exploit that. I was being sarcastic with the easy mode.

Just because it is tedious it does not mean you could not do it.

Top Ten Returnal tips:

- Dont take any damage.
- Dont die
- ???
- Profit

It's a bit unrealistic to expect not getting hit, so it's better to farm more 15% protection augments and stack them up. I think I reached 45-60% protection at the end which made me really take more hits easily, especially with a parasite with regeneration and even a suit augment of regeneration which I doubt they stack.

What really gave me advantage is exploring all the blue doors possible since biome 1 and all the way to the final boss with one run, that made me OP. Of course that run was around 8 hours, if I do it again it should be MUCH easier with all the permanent gear that makes me access areas inaccessible before = more loot.

Yes. But not a 100% how it is after you beat the game. Maybe ask Bo_Hazem Bo_Hazem ...

In the ship:

The cargo door is open and there is a weird chair, so you go and press gets you to biome 1 or 4.

And yes I believe if you die you start at 4th like in 1st but with level 15 gun. But I didn't die/lose progress from 1st biome to test it myself.

I'm really liking this game, but whoever decided that using the same trigger you shoot to reload the gun was a good idea is not in their right mind. They should've just used a dedicated button for reloads.

Battles are chaotic as hell, full of particle effects and enemies, the ammo counter is basically camouflaged under the crosshair and it's almost impossible to keep monitoring it during long combat sequences.

Fffs. They really need something for players who don’t enjoy this bullshit. I’ve never been good at boss fights, I enjoy everything but that with this game. I got so close and I just can’t kill the first guy

I don’t like their is no way to increase adrenaline on the boss. Cuz of course I’m gonna get hit
As said, the Electropylon Driver helped me alot, just tag the Boss with nades and let the DoT do its work while you can focus on evading, or stay out of sight in other encounters.
Like in Destiny 2 when using Anarchy, although Returnal is more fast paced ofc.

Agreed. It's a slog to trek back to your ship.... I also wonder if the ability to heal at your ship is there on purpose (or if they just forgot to take it out). Seems sort of odd, it's not mentioned anywhere, etc

What's everyone's view on the Reconstructors? Seems like the most valuable use of Ether I've found so far (granted, I haven't played much). Everything else kind of pales in comparison to the usefulness, regardless of how expensive it is.

Yes, and you can't spam it, only once per level. I change Ether to obolites sometimes to use them on the fabricator if I have enough to spare.

What about the thing you spend Ether on near the ship? It just gives you a random item right? Seems worthless to me honestly since Ether is so valuable and fairly rare.

I didn't do the maxing out of the HP early on. I only noticed on one of Max Dood's streams of the game he had maxed out his HP before getting to the 3rd Biome. It makes boss fights and areas like the 3rd Biome much easier to pass through.

The 3rd Biome for me had the least amount of integrity meds, so stacking them in the 1st Biome would be an idea. If you're super good at games like this, you may not need to.

It permanently unlocks new consumables or artifacts that were previously not even in your cycles.

That is why Ether is so valuable in the first place and why the amount needed raises, the more you unlock!

It is even mentioned in the description.

You sure about that? I know it doesn't. Check the menu. I got so many so-called permanent and after finishing the game all of them disappeared. What's permanent is the traversal upgrades like: Seeing hidden platforms, grappling hook, water sinking, walking on lava, and not sure if missed something.

They get added to your cycles. The description reads: "Place Ether to unlock new artifacts or consumables."

They stay permanently in your game. That does not mean you have them. They are out there in the wild, ready to be found.

Could you show where are they placed after starting over? A screenshot/snap by a phone? Those aren't permanent.
You have to find them. When you unlock a new one you get one for free to try it out right in the beginnig area at your ship. After that they get added to your playthrough to all the other consumables and artifacts.

Think Dead Cells!
