I'm still getting merc'd but now that I have a laser sword for melee the gameplay fun has been pumped up a notch. And ever since finding the boss, the level design has taken on whole new appearances. Usually the boss ends up being a lot closer so I stumble in before I've grinded enough health/weapons. Just a matter of patience and smart playing at this point.
I am really enjoying the roguelike elements in this. It makes starting all over a lot more fresh and fun. I am still making my way through a level with x, y, and z, and a boss, but the level itself is changing, it keeps things interesting.
I would be interested in reading just how these levels are generated, is it entire rooms snapped together, or bits and parts of geometry?
Also I got to say how satisfying it is to shoot bad guys in this game. I'm getting a real strong arcade vibe here, Galaga style, or Contra, whenever you are in a room with a bunch of enemies. It is just so fun to mash that shoot button over and over!
