I think it may be a prop for Fantastic 4. They've been shooting that movie all around downtown the last 2 weeks. I think they were doing a X-Games style sequence at BC Place.
I was at that shoot! Were you there too?Warm Machine said:I think it may be a prop for Fantastic 4. They've been shooting that movie all around downtown the last 2 weeks. I think they were doing a X-Games style sequence at BC Place.

So far I've done a club scene in Gastown and the four day motocross shoot at BC Place. I've shot Tru Calling (RIP) at the Library, and they had a bunch of huge lights on top and on the surrounding buildings, but nothing that could be described as a giant sun.
Yeah, the faux cafe was for F4. It was pretty fucking swank too, considering they built it on a mini parking lot by putting a glass ceiling above the parking alley.Warm Machine said:I wasn't there but I could see all the trucks and tents outside the stadium. I think I saw them prepping and shooting True Calling. That was what? 3 weeks ago or something? Had a cocktail party up on the roof and set up a faux cafe thing on the ground right? It pissed down rain for hours.
I'm fairly certain they're shooting the movie until at least the end of the year, so there should still be time. Get her signed up with an extra agency.Dyne said:Hey Mike, is there going to be any more shootings that require extras? A girl I know really wants to see Chris Evans up close. Is there any hope?
Warm Machine said:Yeah, the IMDB says that the central building is the goods for that movie.
I think they were doing a night shoot at David Lam park downtown a few days ago. They were also doing what looked like some 2nd unit stuff on the sea wall.
Oh, Catwoman was shot here too.
My brother was lucky enough to get a walk of the Riddick sets when they were shooting that here. He came away really impressed by the scale and look. I remember when they shot Ecks Vs. Sever outside the Library as well and had all the cars flipping over.
The Sixth Day also used the Library for the cloning company headquarters.

I know there was one scene in Rumble in the Bronx where you could clearly see Gross Mountain in the background during a fight. And it wasn't like they tried to hide it or anything.Warm Machine said:I'm actually a little off put when I can really recognize Vancouver in movies. I spend all the time watching the background and the cheapness factor comes in. One night I passed outside of the DV8 lounge on Davie many years back and they were prepping to shoot the Stallone, Rourke alley fight for Get Carter.
Geography bugs me too when I know where it is shot. The Sixth Day just drove me with Arnold being downtown one minute and then at a Dam god knows where the next.
He's referencing Vancouver, not Toronto. But yeah, Vancouver's seen it's fair share of both shitty and good movies.Jak140 said:Jesus, do they film any good movies in Toronto? Not that I my city is any better, I think some shitty John Travolta flick was filmed here and that's about it.
Funny thing is, they DID try to hide it earlier in the film. Look for an isometric shot near the beginning of the movie of a building (might've been the store), and you can see some fake looking clouds digitally placed where the mountains should be.MetatronM said:I know there was one scene in Rumble in the Bronx where you could clearly see Gross Mountain in the background during a fight. Yeah, they're shooting a movie called 2 4 The Money. I was on set at the airport a week ago for a scene with Pacino and McConaughey, which was awesome. Just saying hi to Pacino was the hilight of my week right there. Believe it or not, Pacino was loose and calm and McConaughey was really fucking dedicated and serious preparing for one of the scenes they were shooting that I was in. I expected it to be the opposite.Mr Nash said:There seems to be a ton of filming of big movies in Vancouver right now. I was going for a walk on Friday night and saw Matthew McConaughey, Rene Russo, and Al Pacino filming some scenes downtown. That was pretty damn cool, they were only 10 feet away. My wife was like a high school girl when Al Pacino waved to her.
