RIP Eddie Guerrero... Smackdown Vs. Raw 2006 thread

I don't like how the CPU counters so much. And I don't like how they change the Irish Whip controls, but I'll get use to that.

GM Mode is awesome. Though I booked Eddie vs HHH. Eddie was champ, but it's obvious who won :lol

I agree 100%. Forcing you to play (and win) seems like a bit of unnecessary busywork. That said, I'm willing to overlook just for the opportunity of real-time EWR on console. All wrestling games in the future must include GM options or else.

The japanese version of Fire Pro 2 on GBA had an excellent Match Make mode that, sadly, never made it over to the US version. I wish it did, cuz it was excellent. I hope to try out this GM mode here soon, but no place has this game to rent yet =/

I think you can actually edit the computer A.I. so that it doesn't counter as much, that's what I've read anyway.

Yes I know about changing the AI, but it really hasnt seemed like it has made much of a difference.

I will be amping up weapon damage though. Chair shots should level a guy.

I'll be trying a few things out tonight.

Finisher stealing and lifting an opponent off the mat facing away from you are both out of the game (at least since HCTP, the last one I played). WTF.

I'm super disappointed in the actual game portion of this. Engaging in a grapple or attack means nothing... it just gets reversed and you can't do anything about it. It makes you afraid to wrestle, which is stupid. The stamina meter doesn't affect anything at all, it was always in the games but just in the background and didn't allow you to manually raise it faster. The momentum meter is the same meter the game has always had.

Don't buy into the hype if you're reading the hasty positive impressions from the beginning of this thread. It's the same old shit, and GM Mode, while a fantastic addition for wrestling games from now on, is basic and poorly done.

you can still steal finishers

get 1 finsher store it, then get a second and then hit l1 l2

and I believe the dont believe the hype title belongs to "KoC"

LOL

the storylines ROCK

JBL in cahoots with Eric to make a new fed. Then Vince called Austin to take over the GM Role. He has me looking for a mole

Good deal. I didn't see it in the manual, and I tried L2 then L1 and got a taunt steal.

yah you can also steall all your opponents momentum also

store a finisher then i "think" get a second one hold l1 (or l2 cant remember) and flick right on the right analog stick.

I hope the PSP one is the same :/

If you unlock the legends in the PS2 one you can transfer them to the PSP (and the other way around) and the PSP has Jake the Snake to unlock for the PS2 version. You can also synch up the season modes.

Nintendo's plague spreads. :(

Damn Liu Kang, your a bitter shit in this thread. I don't know what your expectations are, but GM mode seems far from sucking, especially since most people that follow this game consider it a bonus mode since it wasn't announced until the very end.

Just the fact that this game has exhibition title matches in it puts it in a league above all the other stuff that was released the past 5 years, sans Japanese titles like Fire Pro and KOC.

The game rocks, plain and simple. A lot of depth and it's getting good reviews almost everywhere.

Wish we had more PSP info. If GM Mode made it to the PSP and all the storylines I am hearing about, I will get that version.

qft.

There's never going to be a game that perfectly replicates in-ring action, but what's here is enjoyable and worth the price imo.

The PSP version is a straight port of the PS2 version. Exactly the same game, just on the PSP instead of the PS2. GM mode is in, the RAW and SmackDown seasons are exactly the same, even with voice. The only things that aren't in the PSP version are in-match commentary and online. Things exclusive to the PSP version are the Arcade Mode games, ad hoc wireless, and Jake the Snake.

There's nothing more to say about the PSP version except that it's the exact same game. Reviews will tell whether or not that's a good or bad thing.

You are able to use Bret in season mode right? Cause if it isn't possible, there's gonna be pain.

You can't use everyone in Season mode, and Bret Hart is one of the legends you can't, I'm afraid. The only legends you can use in season are Hogan, Austin and Mankind, because they're the only three that recorded VOs. On the bright side, you can take them through both the Raw and SD seasons.

To be able to choose the winner or loser in a mode where winning and losing matches has serious consequences on the wrestlers in your roster. It's a giant oversight, and being forced to play the matches to have a certain guy win is arbitrary and stupid.

I don't settle for mediocrity in my wrestling games, and the fact that most of you do is the reason we still look back at N64 titles as the barometer for quality.

[Adjusting the sliders makes a HUGE difference. Trust me. My only real gripe is the A.I. in tag matches..WTF..seriously.
I win every season mode tag match by throwing my opponent out of the ring and letting my computer partner beat him down while I wait in the ring. Half of my tag matches end in under 30 seconds.

The GM mode sounds good and all...but I was really hoping for gameplay improvements. Multiplayer wrestling games are big at my place. Firepro 6 Man Scramble is getting old because I've been too busy to update the roster, and we've resorted to playing RAW 2 here!

It looks like the only option here is to mod my PS2.

Well, you don't have to use the same tactic to have all your tag team matches in under 30 seconds... Perhaps tweaking the sliders would help out...

Sorry but I disagree with you. I don't think that there is very much, if any at all, of mediocrity inside this years version of Smackdown.

We all know that the next gen version is going to be just updated graphics with a bunch of modes stripped out...

I'll probably be playing this current smackdown for a couple of years at least.

To each their own.

By the way, you can use ANY legend inside GM mode. You can play every match inside GM mode if you chose. The only difference between this and season is a scripted story line. Imagination, or even just trying to replicate the current TV shows is enough filler for that... (at least for me)

Bleh...I wanna use the Hitman in season mode.

Actually, is it possible to "ghost" an existing character in CAW? Cause if I can just create a Bret with the same likeness and video intro and stuff, that'd be just fine with me.

I need the PSP version just to play as Jake the Snake? Bullshit...goddamn bullshit.

If you have an Action Replay, just download one of the complete save files at Gamefaqs that has Jake unlocked.

This ignores that the gameplay in this game is boring. It is the same old Smackdown from the last five years. I loved this engine despite its shortcomings years ago, but it's old and time to move on. Here Comes the Pain was the peak of this game engine, and like the stale Tony Hawk series, Smackdown is just stale and rehashed.

I was bored playing this game within the first day, and the fact that I have to play it to win with certain people in GM Mode just ruins the one good part of the whole game.

I really want to love this game, otherwise I wouldn't have spent $50 on it, but it's just not good.

Online fucking sucks. I'm facing cruiserweight Batistas & Triple H's who have the 619 and Sweet Chin Music on their movesets, it's retarded. It's like these idiots say "Ok let me edit my favorite wrestlers with the most powerful, quick and effective moves for online play". Don't even get me started on CAW players, where most are these tall and muscle bound martial artists. Then there's the microwave players, who throw you outside and have added quickie taunts to their moves so they can fill up their momentum bars fast, hit the special and win.

Only 4 out the 12 matches I've had have been fun and balanced where the other player knew how to be fair and work a decent match.

ID is evilways-GAF by the way, I'll be on in about 30 minutes.

Um no... theres a glitch in GM mode... go through GM mode for a year and you can unlock Jake.

ORRR if you have a gameshark or whatever you can just download the save at Gamefaqs.

evil ways, if I end up getting a modem I'll have to play you. I dont change movesets. If I do, it's just to make them accurate.

At least with me youll get a good match.
