The daughter of Oscar-winning actor Robin Williams has quit social media after being targeted by internet trolls following her father's suicide.
Zelda Williams said she would stop using her Twitter and Instagram accounts.
She said she was frustrated at the way family photos she had posted online had been used, and how internet trolls had been attacking her.
"Mining our accounts for photos of dad, or judging me on the number of them, is cruel and unnecessary," said the actress, who appeared with her father in the 2004 drama House of D.
"I will be leaving this account for a bit while I heal and decide if I'll be deleting it or not," the 25-year-old wrote on Instagram beneath a photo of a butterfly.
"In this difficult time, please try to be respectful of the accounts of myself, my family and my friends."
The head of safety at Twitter, Del Harvey, released a statement saying a number of accounts had been suspended for rule violations.
"We will not tolerate abuse of this nature on Twitter," Ms Harvey said.
"We have suspended a number of accounts related to this issue for violating our rules and we are in the process of evaluating how we can further improve our policies to better handle tragic situations like this one."
On Twitter, Ms Williams invited fans of her father to make donations to St Jude Children's Research Hospital, a renowned paediatric medical centre in Memphis, Tennessee that her father supported.
Robin Williams, 63, was one of the finest comedy talents of his generation, and his death earlier this week prompted a global outpouring of grief on social media.
The star—whose films included Good Will Hunting, Good Morning, Vietnam, and Mrs Doubtfire—was found dead in his San Francisco-area home on Monday by his personal assistant.
Broadway pays tribute to Williams
Williams, a father of three, had been seeking treatment for severe depression.
He had sometimes made light of his troubles with substance abuse and his stints in rehab.
The investigation into his death is continuing, but a preliminary investigation by a coroner in California concluded Williams had taken his own life.
In New York, the Broadway League said theatres along the Great White Way were darkening their marquees on Wednesday evening for one minute in honour of Williams.
"Whether on screen or live on stage, his multi-faceted talent always created memorable performances," said executive director Charlotte St Martin in a statement.
