Rock Band 4 announced for PS4 and Xbox One

I got the guitar bundle pre-ordered for Xbox One, some questions-

I keep seeing people mention a dongle. What dongle? What's it for?

Will our old Guitar Hero guitars work with this game? Much prefer them.

Not Rock Band related but my old Guitar Hero guitars seem to have the same problem of the guide button activating at random. This stops the game and unless I pull the batteries out it turns my 360 on. Both my guitars do this now. Any idea for a fix?

Sorry if this has been mentioned before, I am just jumping in to this thread now.

Has Harmonix said if wired instruments will work? I own the full RB1 instruments for the Xbox 360 and wondering if at this point they'll ever get used again or not!

Not at launch. They're looking at adding it post-launch, but as always, no promises.

Wired mics are the exception.

Will the 360 'instruments' be compatible with the PS4? If not, is there any adapter for 360 to PS3 (thus PS4)?

I have yet to purchase a current gen console, as no game really attracts me, but since the PS4 is more powerful than the Xbox One then I think I'll go for a PS4.

PAX is already pricey as it is, and Harmonix wants to steal *more* of my money there?? Darn it Harmonix, if that PAX preorder swag is good, my wallet will hate you forever!

Is Mad Catz still not selling new guitars separately?

Since moving back to PS4 (from Xbox), I don't have any compatible guitars. And the Guitar/Game bundle doesn't help my girlfriend any.

Still waiting to get the sexy white guitar to go up for sale instead of the black one. Plus i want the game digital. Looks like im probably not gonna be playing at launch. :/

There was supposed to be a red one too but thats also been a no show. What happened?

They're not doing different colored guitars anymore.

I'm probably going to buy one of the two consoles in tandem with this game, I'm just not sure which one to go for. I already sold my 360 instruments but I may have the RB1 and RB2 games around somewhere. Not positive.

Ugggh.. decisions... I'm leaning Bone, but do any of you have any RB-specific advice?

If you have any DLC, it's a no-brainer to stick with XB.

I can keep access to DLC I purchased for RB1/2/etc with my XBL account, and redownload for Rock Band 4?
Yes. However I believe the exact timing surrounding legacy DLC rollout has not been detailed (i.e. all to-be-support DLC/exports available day 1? Small number ready day 1 with further packs released as time goes on? Etc).

Does anyone think that the 360 instruments could work on Xbox One through Windows 10 streaming? Currently the standard wired/wireless 360 controllers are compatible, so maybe wired instruments such as the Ions could be made compatible through streaming.

At this point, I don't see why Microsoft doesn't just enable support for all 360 USB peripherals. As pointed out, they work when streaming to Windows.

Because the Windows streaming stuff provides an air-gap between the One and the actual USB bus. You can't pass any actual USB data via the Windows streaming method, it just sends the button-press information.

Both sony and ms are super paranoid about USB this generation.

Yes, they're promising at least all of the Harmonix-made DLC. For that very reason I've gotten back into the groove of buying DLC again.

Oh yes, although probably not day 1. A lot of people who jumped from 360 to PS4 not thrilled.

Oh, delicious news. Definitely leaning more toward Bone now.

A similar situation happened when Rock Band 1 and 2 released on the Wii way later than the other platforms - a good 30% of the DLC catalog (at the time!) was available at launch, and then they filled the rest in later at a clip of about 30 songs a week. A few months later they were all caught up.

Now we're talking about porting it to more platforms and the catalog is wayyyyy bigger and the dev wayyyy smaller, but I expect a similar-ish situation here.

It's in their FAQ somewhere, basically to make production run be feasible they needed to go all-black. This is for both platforms.

Other colors may come later.

Here's the question from the FAQ:

Q: I don’t want to pre-order until you tell me more about those colored Rock Band 4 instruments. Where can I pre-order one of those?
A: The white and red Rock Band 4 instruments will not be available for pre-order. These instruments were manufactured as prototypes used for demoes and marketing purposes, and we have no plans to release them into retail at this time.

Did Frank Turner's "I Still Believe" ever come out on PSN for Europe and Australia? Looking online it looks like that SCEE was holding it up for some reason. Did it ever get released?

Edit: And one last question, will the RB1 songs that I exported to the 360 HDD work in RB4? Or will it just be the DLC that I purchased?

Yup, I still believe (with the rest of the 2015 DLC) finally came out around June/July, but that entire situation is a mess, and its one of the reasons I'd say "never buy a rhythm game on a European Sony console"

RB1 will export over but we don't know how yet

Not quite true. There is an adapter, but it's expensive:

CronusMax - CDN$ 59.99

This is probably worth it if the iON kit isn't supported on X1, but it's probably mroe worth it to just sell your X360 equipment, and rebuy them for PS4, if that's the direction you are going.

I was thinking of getting one of these for FightStick purposes, but I heard a rumour that they burn out USB ports...can you shed any light?

I know there's more than one, and I'm pretty sure the same people made a new one with a different name too?

Anybody looking to get the RB4 band in a box bundle in Canada who hasn't pre ordered yet, expect to pay more. It's now at a whopping $350!!! Thankfully I was able to get it for $240 at Best Buy during their E3 sale, but I feel for people that have to now pay for something that's almost as expensive as an Xbox One. Walmart.ca still has it at $300 so if you do wanna get one I'd hurry before it goes up.

As I mentioned a couple pages back, I have a PS4, but then I also have a 360 with wired instruments and a HDD full of dlc and the RB1 export. To make use of that I would need to buy an Xbone, which is kinda excessive. I'm sure I'll work out what I want to do at some point.
