Rancid is awesome and needs to be in this game. As a fellow bass player, how could you not want to play this awesome bass solo in Maxwell Murder
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1bimNMiz250.
Sure, it's a really short song, but it's so good. ...And Out Comes The Wolves album needs to be put up for DLC.

Because I am still learning and have no desire to challenge myself that much. Also because I dislike the song. In RB, however? It's ok, but not the best bass solo. Once again I must demand "(Anesthesia) Pulling Teeth". That would show that they actually regard the bass as an instrument. Actually, as I've said before elsewhere that's the trick for what GH:WT has been doing with their idiotic battles. Give us a final song that is a dedicated, challenging solo (or close to it) for each instrument: "Eruption", "(Anesthesia) Pulling Teeth", erm... something for the drums and vocals.

Oh and for the Rancid fans out there I actually live less than a block away from the Daly City train (it's a BART station and thus local commuter rail/subway). The bathrooms have been closed for a while due to "security". It is not, actually, in a terrible neighborhood, just a poor, dull, residential one. Perhaps things have changed since '95 though.

I actually used to drive a Cadillac, albeit a grey one, not black, never owned white shoes, and preferred a grey hat to a black one, but otherwise, well.... Closest you'll ever get to me being a scenester.

Ultimately my problem with Rancid and their popularity is that it might be fun and light and catchy, but that doesn't make it good. That makes it pop fluff that's fun to hear on the radio every once in a while. I want a little something more, it's hard to explain at times and remain internally consistent. Ultimately I wouldn't mind seeing a DLC pack or some on-disc time especially when compared to some really terrible bands that could end up getting in there.

Oddly, "Time Bomb" was on the radio yesterday when I woke up. For some reason I often hear Rancid on the radio when I wake up.

What are you guys getting this week?

I think I'm going to go for Moving Pictures(880) & She Sells Sanctuary(160).
I'm picking up everything. Looking forward to Rush and Bad Religion the most. I'm also thinking of waking up extra early before work to play through it all. Can't wait.

Not getting all of moving pictures to save some points for other tracks, so most likely just YYZ, Limelight, Tom Sawyer, and Sorrow.

In regards to the freezing up on the 360 RB2, I had that once last night, within 15 minutes of opening the game from buying it. But no RRoD

NOT RED BARCHETTA OR THE CAMERA EYE??

good choice with YYZ though.

I'm getting them all tomorrow methinks, except that one slow ass boring one. maayybbbe that one.

Eh, just getting what I'm more familiar with. Also, said I'm just not getting the whole album right now. Low on space bucks so I'm trying to stretch 'em out as long as I can in case something like an Offspring pack or other random awesome stuff pops up.

Stinks to hear that people are having freezing problems :(

No problems with my 1.5 year old Elite, and I've probably put in 30+ hours of RB2 so far.

it's not even my Xbox. it's ONLY in RB2. it will freeze for like 3 seconds and continue. sometimes it will happen maybe 2 times a play session and other times it won't happen at all.

The next few weeks of DLC are going to be terrible. It always happens after a standout DLC week.
Lots of country? Maybe some American Idol runners-up?

edit: ^^^ hey, don't knock country. If we got Johnny Cash that'd be great, Brooks and Dunn will be fun, etc. As long as it's not Big & Rich or Trace Adkins or the latest shitty top 40 single, I'd be totally fine with it.

I don't know what I'm getting. I was going to get all of Moving Pictures and all the singles except Sleater Kinney and Hot Hot Heat, but I've spent $67 on DLC for this game and spending 1520 points (over a quarter of the points I've spent on Rock Band in the last year) at one time doesn't sit right for me. I'd cut down some of the Rush songs and Shoot the Runner, but still.

What's even worse is that I just know Live at Donington is going to be 2400pts/$30, and I'm going to buy it all because it's AC/DC. RB is fucking expensive.

Johnny Cash is not always, strictly speaking, country. I think he transcends genre into the place where he is more badass than you will ever be or could hope to be. If such DLC becomes available (and it ought to) he will simply have to look at you and you will know deep in your soul that you are a weak failure of a person without it. His weary contempt for you and all that you stand for will be enough to compel you or you will continue to be exposed as the sham that you are.

The only thing worse than country is punk.

I will not rise to your baiting.

I will, however, acknowledge that punk is like metal in that there is some very, very good work out there, but it is the sort of genre that more than others seems to inspire terrible people to produce amazingly awful music.

If 90% of everything is shit then punk and metal run even closer to 95%.

So with something this good next week I'm expecting a Fall Out Boy pack or something to just completely dick us all like we're the Mariana Trench.

LOL @ Fall Out Boy.

That said, I would eat my balls if we don't get great weeks from now until at least late November. They are going to need to combat the hype of the new Guitar Hero.

Given some of the wretched weeks we've had lately, they've been sandbagging furiously for this.

I'd take country if only to get some new genre of music released other than garbage metal.

I keep forgetting to post this, but this has happened to me 3 times. Every time it's been with songs stored on the hard drive, so I wonder if it has something to do with drive fragmentation.

It screwed me, I almost had a perfect run on Expert with Celebrity Skin, and BAM.

Wow, I am VERY interested in hearing your response/experiences in playing this. Seriously, if you wouldn't mind keeping a bit of a semi-journal, or just jotting down some thoughts, I'll reward you with thanks. Real, unadulterated thanks.

on another note: Every time I play Shackler's Revenge, I'm liking it more. Not going to say it'll end up matching the best of Appetite, but there is a lot of good stuff there. Hopefully we see more of the new GnR tracks (I've given up on the old GnR tracks every appearing).

What we really need in this game is some polka, preferably Mexican polka. OOM-PAH-PAH, OOM-PAH-PAH. Yessiree.

Damn you America! How the fuck am I supposed to make and consume a simple bacon sandwich without gorram HP sauce!?!? You can cram it up your arse so far that it reaches the limits of the expanding galaxy, loops back, and you end up cramming it into your arse again in an infinite fucking loop!

There's HP sauce all over the place. You just have to know where to look. Most groceries have "international" sections, look there. That's where my wife buys hers (she's second generation English, grew up with the shit. I think it's gross.)

You MAY have to live in a neighboring state to Canada, however. Not sure how far south the distribution goes.

On BGB Bacon used a line from Paradise City in the review link image for that game... song was in my heads for weeks.

I solved that by listening to Bill Bailey's version.

I just went and looked at the bottle, and it is indeed imported from Canada. So you may be SOL unless you go online.

Oh, That! yes that has happened to me even in RB1. Weirdly though, that has only happened twice since I got the game and both of the times were when I was playing online. Hasn't happen to me yet while playing offline though.

HP Sauce is like A1. If you're British or of British descent, it tastes better. If you're born and bred Yankee, it tastes like ass.

The one thing I missed when in the states: proper bacon. What's this streaky stuff all about?

It is all we have ever known.

No, I can think of a few places off the top of my head that would carry it, but none of them are close by (i.e. within walking distance). A little shop nearby that I believe was primarily Irish might have carried it, but they closed a few months back without my ever having gone in... and again I would have needed to walk a few blocks and then take the train up there.

As for international this is San Francisco. Here, like many places actually, that means lots of Asian and Mexican products if they don't already have their own aisles. Actually, the closest market to where I live is Asian so finding simple Western foods is actually the hardest thing. The only cheese you can get there is some terrible mass-market packaged crap hidden away down a small aisle. Most Western goods you end up paying the sorts of prices you'd associate with a convenience store despite it being a large supermarket. Still, they do offer tanks of fresh fish and when I need Asian ingredients I never have any trouble finding them.

Hmm... that has me wondering if I could risk heresy by trying out Bulldog tonkatsu sauce instead. It might be close enough to work.

I know I can get it from the Internet, I just don't care that much about it right now. I do, however, have some bacon in the fridge (even if it is our apparently inferior "streaky" American bacon) and was a mite hungry.

Also, though it may be breaking with tradition, anyone who puts butter on a sandwich is some sort of sick deviant. I'm all for butter, but sandwiches certainly don't need it. Then again, I rarely choose to put butter on just about anything these days.
