Gotta agree with Costanza here. It's not that different from paying for RB DLC. Of course, the master race gets them for free so I can see where Archie is coming from. That shit don't fly on consoles though.
 
The biggest difference is FPS maps used to be free. I don't recall music game content ever being given away at no charge (outside of a few songs).
 
There is a pretty big difference between professional tracks and FoF dude. If GH used to be a PC game with free songs then I'd have a problem with paid music game DLC.
 
Customs are free and you can pick any song you want. I'm sure if DLC was released for GH3 PC people would just pirate it or just find the chart and use it like a custom.

I understand the profit motive, but as a consumer I am getting shafted with paid map packs. I'd rather see Activision/Bungie/Valve/whoever release free content and keep the retail price higher for many years to help lure new players instead of potentially driving them off by splintering the communities.

You've never played customs then. 70%ish of the customs I've played have been awesome.

tip: find a good charter and stick with their charts. wuLFe, microgamer, brianspud33, HellAshes, etc are all great charters.

tbh I'd be more open to buying the map pa-- STIMULUS PACKAGE (someone please beat up the genius who gave the pack that name) if another $15 map pack with only 3 original maps and some CoD4 ports wasn't coming later on. I don't want to spend $30 total on DLC for a game I probably won't be playing 6 months from now. If I buy the first pack, I know I'll be compelled to buy the second :/
 
Personally I'd buy it day one if they added Strike and/or Vacant. I'm not a huge fan of Overgrown so I'm just gonna leech it from my friend's PSN account
day one.
 
Bailout looks fun. I kind of want it but I'm still going through FFXIII, about 21 hours in. Also the hardest battle so far was like 9 of those Deckodrone things on top of the giant ship. Took me like 7 tries because they all do their tornado kick or whatever and just rape. I only won because of luck to, they decided not to target Lightning and killed Hope and Fang instead.

Let me see if I can get things straight here:

-updated Free Bird gets leaked onto the Wii, demonstrates two different charts and song lengths versus the SHits export
-Free Bird gets released on other system with a warning to not download it if you already exported SHits
-deleting the export track gets you...the export track?!

This is so confusing.
 
*have Smash Hits export on your 360*
*delete it*
*download Free Bird*
*still have track that should have been in the deleted pack*

I don't know what it's like on Wii, or if never having the Smash Hits export makes a difference.
 
The only real difference with the export on Wii is you can pick which songs you want to download. Outside of that, it really can't be that different.
 
If only we had someone else who actually gave a shit enough about GH5 DLC to test to see if this is a common occurrence for the track.
