No one in their right mind can objectively argue the dreamcast being better than the PS2 at this point. Hell, a good chunk of the DC's best games ended up being ported over to the PS2 anyway.

All of the SMT games are pretty good. Persona 3 and 4 are almost godly. (though nocturne IS better, imho) The PS2 is practically a jrpg fan's paradise.

and that's just to the Ps2. Anything else worth playing (jet grind radio, ikaruga, samba de amigo, sega GT) ended up on other hardware.

The DC had one good year. the PS2 had about 7 good years. You'd have to be the worst kind of fanboy to buy a DC over a PS2 *right now*

I'm with Archie on this one all the way; the Persona games are weeaboo appeasing dreck, while Nocturne is a flat-out masterpiece that the rest of the JRPG development completely ignored because it doesn't have spunky teenagers trying to save the world because some asshole burned their village down to a cinder.
 
It's down to $30 so I'll pick it up if you need an extra player.

I got excited about that insane Sega deal on Steam, but 90% of the games suck or I'm not interested in.

er, the argument was that there's no reason to consider the DC over the PS2 since most of the better games from that system were directly ported to the PS2. The two systems were direct competitors from the same gen, I'm not sure why you'd bring up the NES vs. SNES or PSX vs. PS2, which weren't. it's not even the same argument.
 
Isn't PSO Ep 1&2 generally regarded as being the superior version of the game since it has substantially more content than the Dreamcast games ever did? Even then, Blue Burst eventually got Ep 4, as well.

I mean, nothing is ever going to compare to anyone's first time playing PSO on the Dreamcast, but it was the one game that got ported over with better results.

I dunno. I've been a crazy gamer since I was 4 and always had pretty much every system. Ports never meant shit to me as I only care about what system has the best version.

I mean, if you're only concerned about ports, Xbox wiped the floor with the PS2. I can't think of any multi-platform game that was better on the latter.

*It's still one of the best systems ever.

A DD version of PSO is one of the biggest no-brainer ideas that I can think of, so it's of absolutely no surprise that Sega hasn't done it by now.

It would be too weird. PSO was played on a 56k modem with a wired keyboard three feet from the tv. A headset and broadband would almost be too awesome.

I'm ready for the dlc announcement already. If I can't see MacGruber I mine as well play RDR for 15 hours straight.
 
The only thing that sucked about PSO 1&2 on the Gamecube was the frequency of FSODs. They could get a little out of hand at times.

The Xbox version would have been fine if cheating didn't get so out of control so early on its lifespan; by the time the servers shut down, there wasn't a single legit player. Hunters had Satos and Agitos, while low-level Forces had all of the maxed out spells.

right, I see where you're coming from. my point was that the PS2 is generally considered to have one of the strongest libraries of all time, and easily more so than the dreamcast-

having ports of DC games available alongside Ps2 exclusives only strengthens the argument. it's not about who has "the best ports" (because that would be kinda dumb) but overall.

and to the objective gamer, the system with 10x the quality content is the better one. and yes I've also been gaming for the last 25 years or so with consoles from just about everyone. I even had a master system AND a nes

Ignoring the atrocities of that site, it is also the only place to even view the theater listings. The place doesn't show up on fandango, yahoo, or any of the other movie sites. It also doesn't update until Friday morning so you can't plan your weekend until the last minute.
