Should've just said "HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY PIRATES!!!!!"

Half of them are probably game store employees. I got RB1 three days early and I'm neither a pirate nor a sales drone.
Actually, this reminds me of Harmonix's biggest lie ever, aimed at me. (and maybe one other person here whose name escapes me) After my guitar stopped working in just seven hours, they tried to say (through the SA forums) that there was nothing wrong with their guitars. A patch was coming on release day that would make the guitars work perfectly and my early impressions were just spreading FUD, an unfortunate effect of retailers letting the game slip out. Yeah, fuck them. We all know how that turned out, especially EA's accountants.
EDIT: Oh, and in a related lie, all of those broken kiosk instruments were just prototypes, lol. Their failures were in no way indicative of the quality of the final controllers, even though they were failing in the exact same ways. ROFLCOPTER

Sure a lot will be legit, but I know what the 360 piracy scene is like, most will definitely be pirates. The number of seeds on the average 360 game on the major trackers disgust me.

You don't have the choice of Ranked or Player matches when you do a Score Duel or Tug of War?

I've never seen it and there isn't any space on the leaderboards to compare rankings. Why in the hell did they just dick us by taking this out?

I don't know why they wouldn't have the 2 different VS modes. Ranked is like a professional match and Player is like a friendly. I know Microsoft has patented TruSkill but there was nothing stopping them making their own ranking system for the PS3.

The Player Match/Ranked Match stuff is all a result of Xbox Live stuff. You'll notice that pretty much every online game (on 360) has these options. I assume it is required to be able to be used on the service.

I guess Harmonix just didn't feel like putting something similar into the PS3 version. How does it work on PS3? Do you just create a game that anyone can join and then proceed to invite friends?

I'm not a fanboy so I don't want to whine about platform loyalty or anything, but it really does kinda piss me off a bit. These games started on the PS2 and they only eventually came out with GH2 on the 360 well after it was released on the PS2. Now they've made that their lead platform and seem to be ok with providing less support to PS3 gamers who are more likely to have been with them since the beginning of the franchise. I don't think that anyone should be getting screwed here, but it does feel like we (not to mention PAL-regions) keep getting the shorter end of the stick.

At the same time they mentioned that they went with PS2 initially because of it's large install base. I suspect that they went over to the 360 for similar reasons since it tends to be doing slightly better in the USA. I can understand their reasoning, but it certainly doesn't mean I have to like it.

Ultimately, however, it feels sort of like they're a band that's made it big, moved on to a major label and is now ignoring it's early fans who made them successful to begin with in favor of a larger mainstream market. They could please us both, but they're not.

Dude thats why we pay for online though.

Man I hope Walmart gets it at midnight, I only have money for 1 game and NHL 09 is so tempting.

I don't know if you can compare the PS2 owners to a group of early grassroots fans who have been abandoned. There's like millions and millions of them.

Though it probably is true that they have somewhat sold out, since I'm sure Microsoft had some hand in this nice little month of exclusivity.

Yeah. After selecting Local or Online you get thrown into the lobby screen where you can invite friends, search for a game, or just wait around for someone to join. It's kind of weird because if you go out looking it seems to stick you under someone else's game, but for band quickplay if I go searching it'll find other players and I'll stay leader. At least, from the few random matches I've played.

On a sub-topic I find it a tad annoying that you can't choose to select the pre-made characters or just name one of them and use them as a template or outright for a new career. It would be a nice touch when friends are over and you want to create a band quickly, but you don't want to wait for everyone to make characters or have them mess around with your characters and you don't want to just do quickplay.

Yeah, I know that's stretching it quite a ways, but it's still true that we were the ones who bought the first game when it came out before the landslide of popularity really kicked in with the release of GH2.

Hell, I pretty much bought my PS2 because of GH having held out with my PC and Gamecube up until then.

I know I wouldn't be playing Rock Band today if it wasn't for GH2 360. I'm thankful for that at the very least.

When you say "we" it kinda sounds like you mean people that have loyalty to Sony. I started with Guitar Hero on PS2 like everyone else, but when Rock Band came out I had a 360 and no PS3, so I'm an "original fan" and I don't feel betrayed.

If we (read: Europe) dont get some good DLC next week I will do something unspeakable

I fully expect them not to release any content or someting weird like that....

Fun Fact: corporalgregg only downstrums... OUCH!

When has he ever said that? He's probably like me and only switches to alt at a certain speed. For me, that change happens at a much faster speed than that song.
Misirlou and Knights of Cydonia are the only songs I can think of offhand in any of these games where I can't comfortably downstrum the majority of the song, comfortably being the key word. I've beaten Misirlou with only downstrumming, lol. Knights I never tried that way. I'm not a big GH3 fan.

I really wish they had a better Modest Mouse song, but it still looks fun. PLEASE DO A MODEST MOUSE DLC PACK HARMONIX. PLEASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSE.

Maybe it's because I'm one of the few metal fans around but holy shit Visions sounds great screw you guys.

But holy shit at the chart!

edit: Seems that band has a demo. Definitely checking that!
