Lowering the Gold star limit? Why?

Metallica not going over is rather telling. Guess they have been purchased by Actiblizy.

Yea, that's the only master (of the original 58; Tokio Hotel is still baffling me) that's not carrying over. Yet Aerosmith carries, go figure. Not that I mind; Paranoid's a chug fest, Enter Sandman was comically easy, and Run to the Hills will be out-classed in every way by more listenable songs. I personally am at no loss.

And there's several songs that can't be Gold Starred on one or more instruments, yet with the lowered PS2 cut-offs they could. I suspect they've simply lowered the cut-offs to match the PS2 calculations. (Why there was a difference in the first place, I don't know, chalking it up to outsourced development.)

Does this means Europe will have to pay to play Beetlebum in Rock Band 2 ?
Also, Tokio Hotel still sucks. Damn it.

Along with any and everything else in RB1 that carries, yea. If you don't do the disc export you'd have to buy it as distinct DLC.

In case people are just glancing by, the bolded songs are ones that will not carry over.

Maybe the fact Aerosmith was covered makes a difference. At least now I will gold star Sprode now instead of FCing it 500 times without getting one.

It will help on songs that are impossible to gold star without squeezing and songs that won't gold star even with the optimal OD path, which is good.

Glad they are fixing the glitched notes.

Hurray for song exporting. I thought it wouldn't hit until the new dash came out.

Oh. I'm relieved then. That'll teach me.

Wow. No Metallica

wasnt there a rumor on how it was all covers that were the songs you couldnt pass to RB2

Im kind of disapointed. Yeah Enter Sandman is sooo overplayed. But damn its Metallica. :(

Go buy ...And Justice For All or Blackened, then. Get some *good* Metallica going. :P

Also strange Tom Sawyer carried over, when everyone was figuring it wouldn't due to Moving Pictures.

No Enter Sandman in RB2?!?! D: D: D: D:

That was one of the most important songs for me to be able to transfer :*(

*runs to closest corner and cries*

DAMN YOU GUITAR HERO AND YOUR LICENSING DEALS!

Costanza said:
Cool, I don't give a shit about any of those songs that aren't transferring.
I do. :( Enter Sandman is always fun to play on drums and RttH is just an awesome song, even if it's the most predictable song they could've chosen.. I wish they'd put more Maiden in RB/GH, at least we get Battery which is about 1000x better than Enter Sandman.

Hell now I probably won't transfer any of the tracks.

Err i have that pack already. Dl the day it came out. :lol

Hmm... I would have liked "Enter Sandman" to carry over and while it's tough (those galloping triplets get me every time) I'm an Iron Maiden fan so the loss of "Run To The Hills" is regrettable. Still... maybe this means album or mega-pack of Maiden?

Still, aside from the Maiden this was pretty much the expected cuts. I still thought that Smashing Pumpkins might have been on that list as well since Corgan's all chummy with GH these days. Guess he's still commercial enough to realize that selling out his back catalog is the only way to go. I do find it odd that in all the GH promotional material Corgan is listed as a "lead guitarist" when, well, despite what he may have done in the studio and his generally controlling nature Iha played lead.

I think it's more that Aerosmith PERFORMED a cover (so the RB version is a cover of the Aerosmith cover of the song) - which means that it probably wasn't up to Aerosmith to say yay or nay on the expanded rights...

That's exactly why we're keeping it. They got You Really Got Me "as made famous by Van Halen" in GH2 the same way, despite Van Halen not wanting to license for the game.

I totally agree with you. I love Run to the Hills, even if it's a cover. I really do hope this means we can get some kind of master of it now. I love singing that song T_T

No more worrying about RTTH in BWT, nice. I'll be doing the export as soon as I get home and see if Gamestop will even give me $10 for my RB disc.

oh! I LOVE Skullcrusher Mountain!

BUY this song!

Im back to guitar now since my pedal is broken....I gave it to a friend, I hope he does a miracle on this.

Due to Corgan's singing, Iha typically played lead during versus ... but Corgan still played many of the solos. Many people consider solos the definer factor for lead guitarist.

So there is a 360 title update coming out for Rock Band today, PS3 will follow and we'll let you know when we have an idea when it will drop. What's in it? A couple of things.

First of all - it updates RB1 so you will still be able to purchase DLC from the Rock Band store. Downloading this patch is required if you'd still like to do that.

That reminds me off...

Ok, here's something very interesting.

This is, allegedly, a pic of the YYZ info page taken during the brief moments that Moving Pictures was "Available" on the PSN store. Take a closer look to the first paragraph after EXIT. "Please make sure you have the latest Rock Band update".

Patch incoming to support instrumentals, hence the delay, amrite?

Could it be??!?!?!

Nominal fee of $4.99 (400 Microsoft points) required for export of Rock Band 1 soundtrack to compensate music licensors for expanded use. The following Rock Band disc tracks will not be available for export into Rock Band 2: * "Paranoid" as made famous by Black Sabbath, * “Run to the Hills” as made famous by Iron Maiden, and "Enter Sandman" by Metallica. In addition, the title update will also be released simultaneously in Europe. Tokio Hotel’s “Through the Monsoon” from the European disc release of Rock Band will not be available for export into the future European release of Rock Band 2. (* Indicates a cover song, all other songs are original master recordings.) Expanded usage rights for these particular tracks were unable to be secured from the music licensors for this feature.

AW MAN!!! My favorite Rock Band songs!! Paranoid makes such a wicked opening when playing at a party!

I would have deleted all the songs that don't transfer.

Same here. Also far more songs I feel the urge to delete and never see again. Mostly the stuff that's just covers, but then again, I will also take much joy in finally being able to hit a delete button on Creep, Flirtin' With Disaster, In Bloom, Next to You, and Highway Star to name some...

How are you guys getting the game so early to do the transfer? I thought you needed a code within rockband2's disk to transfer.

Maybe you need the code to link it to RB2 or something. Like locking the RB1 data to the RB2 disc and preventing additional transfers.

I doubt the update will allow for Moving Pictures, they recently said the problem is something to do with a partner, not a tech issue.
That was from a post on SomethingAwful from someone that went to PAX. I don't think it's been confirmed directly through Harmonix.

Costanza said:
no you do it from the options in RB1

True but they said it requires a code in the box with Rock Band 2. Perhaps you just need the code to activate the songs as playable in Rock Band 2. This is good news, means we can do the export well in advance of RB2 and don't need to wait for the transfer once we get it!

You know what I'd like to see?
Instead of lowering the limit (Unless it made some songs nearly impossible), they could also just make 100% = Auto-gold-star.

I could have broken memory, but I recall one of the developers mentioning that gold stars were not just awards for playing as accurately as possible but also for smart OD pathing. If you don't overdrive at all (or overdrive poorly) and get 100% you get gold stars?

Or imagine if you get 100% but you also overstrum a hundred times, keeping you from ever completing an energy section; do you still Gold Get?

I'm lame, I can get gold on all of three songs, but I kind of understand Gold and 100% being unlinked accomplishments.

Edit: Oh, I missed this.

Some songs weren't just nearly impossible, they were proven completely impossible, even when exploiting the game code to squeeze out extra points. That's the most likely reason they reduced the point total for gold stars.

But you can still get 100% while breaking your combo the whole time.

Which would mean a low ass score with gold stars. It'd be nice if it recognized FCs.
