Damn it, Paranoid, Enter Sandman, and Run to the Hills are three of my favorite songs. Hell, Paranoid and Sandman are two of my best vocal songs, and RttH is pretty good as well. Clearly this entire thing is pointed at reducing my vocal options.

Of course, when Rock Band 2 comes out I'll just be singing Living on a Prayer all the time anyway. But still.

I also don't understand why anyone would delete one of the RB1 songs. I like having as much available as possible.

I'm pretty sure Battery was licensed at an early date, likely around the same time they licensed Enter Sandman and the Metallica pack, before the GH Metallica deal was even struck. With Enter Sandman in RB2, they would have had to relicense it after the GH Metallica deal.

Hopefully we at least get One eventually, and Fuel (Yeah its Garbage but so what)

At least you have two that work, none of them are working for me. There better be an easy fix for this.

Yeah if you got the tracks individually then 2 of them work, if you dl'd them as a pack then Frontalot raped all three songs.

I just tried it and got 10k less than my previous best. I fucking HATE that song.

I just got it, even beat my record by a whopping 50 points! It would have been 50 points away from the old gold star score. So if the update wasn't in I probably would have to punt a poodle.

And here I was trying to figure out why to buy one over the other since the pack costs the same as the individual songs. So the lesson is to only buy the packs when they actually are cheaper.

Damn it, I hope they fix it tonight, I was waiting all day (wait, scratch that, I've been waiting since Tuesday when everyone else got them) to play them. If I hadn't bought the pack I could at least try Skullcrusher Mountain...

re: i kissed a girl

was sung at karaoke. no girls made out.

AT A GAU BAR.

let us not ask why i was there. i was there with a female friend. who happens to be bi.

i only danced slightly to madonna

I can't even go back and redownload each track individually, the songs have been taken off the Rock Band Store now and when I go to my download history on the XMB it just let's me download the whole (fucked) pack again. This fucking sucks donkey balls, just another example of PS3 owners getting the shaft when it comes to this game.

calm down. my guess is that they take it off and are fixing it and itll be up shortly to redl.

just hope they put a format for the 3 songs in there so it overwrites.

I'm tired, cranky and just wanted to play some new songs before I go off to bed but noooooo.

(sarcasm)Fuck it, I've decided that I'm buying Rock Revolution instead of Rock Band 2 now.(sarcasm)

Man, I wish Rock Revolution had a more solid release date.

My fat Bemani loving ass weeps at the sight of that monstrosity. To think Konami are hyping that turd and yet there's still no announcement of a new PS2 Guitar Freaks/Drummania or Popn'music, it breaks my heart.

wasnt it pushed back to 2k9 ?

That's what I heard, but Wiki doesn't reflect it. I don't know who to believe.

It has Spirit of Radio though.

Sweaty's BBQ (a.k.a. Stubbs BBQ is awesome, but I doubt the decorations will be the same)

The band is the Burden Brothers (on hiatus) Lead singer from the Toadies and drummer from Reverand Horton Heat.

Lol at exclusion of Enter Sandman. This is Matallica we are talking about here. Even the load menu says they were the biggest selling band in the 90's. With the highest selling DLC so far they know what's up.

Enter Sandman re-buy confirmed.

Yeah, but not for a year, most likely.

I thought all of the exported songs were re-licensed by Harmonix anyway? Unless I'm reading your post wrong...

I'd rebuy it in an instant *cryingsmiley.gif*

This was brought up before in the the GH tracklist thread, but I have to agree that the Rock Band venues have generally been... well, forgettable. I think this is largely a factor of making them all indoor venues with relatively dark lighting and tending to focus heavily on the players in close-up shots. In previous games you had brighter venues and more wide shots so you could get a better view of the venue. Likewise each venue tended to do a better job of portraying the theme (e.g. dive bar, mid-sized theater, huge stadium). Not to mention all of the various fun set designs.

This also brings up one of my pet peeves: the camera. When I'm playing solo it ought to be smart enough to not focus heavily on the other band members unless they're playing a solo or something else that in all honesty really ought to focus on them (and did in the previous games). As it is if I'm playing a solo tour or a single-player quickplay we should have an intelligent camera that knows to focus on me more often rather than giving us all roughly equal coverage.

I also want to implement specific moves for each player. Why do I only get to select a style, but not individual moves? Maybe I could earn some really awesome moves through challenges, beating the game, or just buy the damn things (hey... I could get lessons or something and I've seen a book on drumstick twirling somewhere as well so it's not totally far-fetched). Give us some slots (and again, maybe let us earn or buy more slots) and let us make the rocker we want.

I'm fairly certain this is the sort of thing we'll see in GH:WT if they really follow the character creation they've used in the Tony Hawk games.

At the same time I can see how some of this might be a bit lame. I mean, as it is you'll occasionally see your character doing something cool and think "Hey, that's cool! I haven't seen that before". If it's just something that you selected out of a menu it'll sort of lose some of that awesomeness and become more of an obvious trigger to pick one of your moves.

I'd buy it as part of a full Black Album release. People hate on that album too much, but Through the Never, Wherever I may Roam, and Of Wolf and Man would be a blast.

Pretty sure all that stuff stops mattering the second you've played the game as opposed to just watching pre-release videos. I hear Tool have their own venue in GH:WT, for example, which sounds cool, but then I remember I'm never gonna fucking see it bar 10 seconds at the start and end of the song.

All I want is the animations to never be obviously looped, so they distract me. When I see a guitarist doing one thing, then the next second he's on another part of the stage, it's odd.

Agreed 100% about the Black Album *high five*

Yeah that's what I don't like. The worst is when the vocalist stage dives and then magically reappears on the stage 1 second later.

The biggest sin in Rock Band is when, during a Big Rock Ending, your guitarist is smashing his guitar while a guitar track is playing. It's nonsense. Combine that with the fact you are playing notes (well, kinda) on your plastic guitar and it's just silly.

That stuff has been going on since GH1 though.

Star power your guy would throw his guitar into the air or twirl it all over. Same thing.

True, but the thing with BRE is I'm basically looking at the screen, not the notechart, so it's more obvious. When I use star power I tend to be looking at the notes. But yeah, same thing.

Holy shit. Holy shit. Stubb's BBQ (copy) got in????

This gives me hope that someone on the Harmonix staff knows about the Old 97s and we see them in some DLC!

No Enter Sandman?!?!

NNOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Possibly the best drum song on the disk and a blast to sing.

I love the other songs, but don't really enjoy playing them... but, Enter Sandman...

Just listening to some more Jonathon Coulton (well... ok, I do this just about every day, but still) and gotta say that as I'd sorta been thinking before Ikea really would have been a great song for the game. Nice catchy chorus, good verses, even a brief solo.

So, while I like Skullcrusher Mountain (which, according to the tab on the site and the guy who does lessons on YouTube is all chords... completely unlike the game) my revised list of much better Coulton songs (give us a pack please!):

Ikea
Code Monkey
Re: Your Brains (sweet zombie jesus the chorus on that would be wonderful and although a bit simpler on guitar it does at least have a solo as well)

A good case could possibly be made for Skymall, but frankly it's not really in the same class as the others.

If only there was a way to put them in the game. His stuff is all already Creative Commons so the only thing keeping us from doing it is well, the damn technology barrier they've created to prevent us from putting in our own copylefted music.

Now on my third attempt to export the songs. First time it got all the way to "Welcome Home" before saying"we cant read your disc." Then the second time it got to "Nightmare" on the bonus songs. If it doesnt work this time, I am happy with missing only a handful of the extra songs, I got the main meat of it. Only one song I will willingly delete off of my hard drive...then tomorrow the game goes for trade in until part 2. It will be hard to go over a week without a Rock Band fix, but I think the wait will make playing part 2 that much sweeter.

I'm hoping for a PS3 firmware update. One to manage DLC or some shit.

Or at least for Rock Band to add it.

OR at the VERY least, not needing to manually install 55 songs.

Not to mention John Entwistle.

This might be slightly off topic, but I used to just think of you as a pretentious douchebag, until you said you were a fan of the Maiden. I can't be angered by you anymore.

Belgand said:

Yeah. The Who are gonna be around here for a show in October, and I am trying to justify the price to myself with half the band now gone. I think it would be a kick ass show, but like part of your soul was missing for being there.

Speaking of Entwistle, I am still miffed about Who's Next not being a full album. I was really looking forward to doing vocals on "My Wife."

And on the exporting note, the third time was the charm. I really really really am fighting hard not to delete Fall Out Boy. I would rather listen to nails on a chalkboard than that band, but it feels wrong throwing something away that was free (technically paid for) and that most others would have for online play. But at the same time it would spare me the misery of having to play it...

And does anyone have any idea of how big an install RB 2 will take up in the end? I now have 8.8Gb left on my HD. Thinking of making RB2 the sole install on it since I probably wont play much else until I get a larger hard drive. And what is the ETA for the dashboard update?
