I just got a new replacement drum set. Woooo!! I have a set that actually registers my hits w/o double hitting/ dropping notes. I played some today managing to put up 6 new gold stars (at least 4 are above preadjusted rates). 99% Gold on Vasoline. I missed one note in an overdriving gaining section. I was also to 5 star some songs I couldn't on my old set. Foreplay and Highway Star. Actually I couldn't get passed the intro on Foreplay since my drum set went down the shitter. On this one I got by first try. I raised my career score by like 420k breaking the 8 million barrier and settling at the night at 8.15 million. I'm sure I can raise it higher, but I had to stop since my wrist was starting to hurt.

It is still an EL set, but they seem to have a different material for the surface. The bounce seems better then I remember, and it makes dull thuds when you hit it rather than the high pitch clacks my other 2 sets had made. Far less annoying of a sound.

well i installed the songs

now i just wait :(
aaand i finally broke 300k on ggaht :lol
not much of an accomplishment, but i've been wanting to hit 300k for awhile

does the rock band 2 drum set come out this month too? or do i have to wait still :(

This might be slightly off topic, but I used to just think of you as a pretentious douchebag, until you said you were a fan of the Maiden. I can't be angered by you anymore.

Awesome. I've never thought as myself as pretentious. Frankly the stuff I like in the game is actually much more heavily slanted to classic: be it classic rock, punk, or metal. It's the more flash-in-the-pan recent stuff that I generally have an issue with. Songs and artists that I doubt are going to hold up well twenty years from now.

Of course, if I need to add a little extra pretension in here might I suggest we get some DLC from Super Furry Animals? Ideally something from Mwng? Because I'm sure Americans desperately need to sing in Welsh. It seems like the Welsh took the idea that 'y' can sometimes be a vowel and decided they liked it so much they'd promote it to primary vowel status and give the old job of "sometimes" over to 'w'.

SFA was the only concert I've ever been to that was actually presented in surround sound. It was... unnerving and rather odd (Rings Around the World tour). The show was rather good though.

Actually, they do have some good songs and while I believe they're actually reasonably well-known in the UK I doubt the vast majority of people in the US have ever heard of them. I could probably also just bring up Laibach, World/Inferno Friendship Society, or even Quintron who all have a solid place on my iPod. Or do we need Servotron or Atom and His Package? Man... Or Astro-Man, however, I'd consider to actually be fairly well-known and they would be completely awesome in the game.

So yeah, I spent a good chunk of this evening playing through Screaming for Vengeance (friend of mine saw what they're calling Judas Priest last Monday actually), but that doesn't preclude my ability to listen to some obscure stuff either... or vice-versa.

And on a totally random note: when are we getting some Tom Petty?

But is he referring to the European release (at a German show)? Cos maybe, just maybe, it'll come out in the US this year, be region free, and let my dreams come true.

Yeah, that could be true but they referenced it on one of the podcasts as something ingeneral so I'm not sure. I wouldn't doubt a delay just so they can get some separation from the other 2 games. D:

If RB2 is region free I will be so fucking happy.

With the announcement of what songs won't carry over, all that's left to be revealed is the 20 free songs, right? Can't wait.

Yes.

And yes.

YES!

Fuck, why are you doing this to me Harmonix?

I fucking bought Phase, show -me- some love for a change :(

hate me all you want, but i'm not upset at the missing songs. RTTH is the only one of those three that i would regularly play, but it's a cover so i can let it slide. the other two, paranoid was boring as hell (imho... great song but just no fun to play or sing) and enter sandman wasn't that interesting either. plus, metallica are cocks.

also, i'll be getting GH:WT, so, you know.

i'm definately trading in Rock Band this weekend... hopefully before it slips too much in trade in value.

I just gold starred a bunch of songs I was never able to. I kind of feel like I cheated.

Same here in a way. I've always found Suffragette City to be a bit of a bitch to gold star, individually all it's sections are easy but I always mess up in some way. But now I got a lower score than my previous best and gold star'd it. But it does mean I'm now officially the owner of a fictional gold star on Working Man Vault Edition, which makes me very happy.

I think you mean "Wont Get Fooled Again"

If you're not a great drummer, but want to feel like one, not many songs trick you like Enter Sandman.

Now try for 5 stars :lol It's a tough fucker.

I bet you can't wait for an entire Megadeth album.

The bit at the end did a good job of padding the score out; I was at about 3 and a half stars before that long easy section came up and got me to almost 4 and a half total. But 5 is completely out of the question. And I think me purchasing a whole Megadeth album is too. I'm not man enough.

In other good news:

Fuck you, Who!

Gamefly has a listing up for Track Pack Volume 2 with a release date of 10/19. Strangely enough, they have it listed for all four systems instead of just Wii and PS2. I'm guessing it's just an error on their part though.

Anyone here see the RB2 commercial? It just aired on Comedy Central. They also showed the 360 at the end and mentioned the $199 price.

Someone on SA made this post and it actually makes a hell of a lot more sense than my "gh metallica FUCK YOU ACTIVIADSDFS." Remember the news awhile back with Metallica wanting royalties for their songs in music games? Yeah.
tbradshaw said:
This is much simpler than most people are making it. Earlier in the RB process they mentioned the biggest transition in licensing that allowed for songs from Metallica (and some other big acts) was the allowance of royalties on sales.

It turns out that Metallica will only license for a percentage take of revenues. They had never been in a previous rhythm game, because previously the developers had only licensed on-disc songs with a flat rate.

As such, the "token fee" licensing agreement to export songs from the RB disk is fundamentally incompatible with any licensing agreement that Metallica is willing to make.

My hypothesis is that Enter Sandman might be an option for future DLC, however.

edit: holy shit :lol

I know Dave won't like this idea, but as a drummer I want Wish by NIN. Listen to it on And All That Could Have Been. 3:40 of non-stop, fast drumming from RTTH and death rolls like WGFA.

I think we're right on time for a NIN announcement, so you may be in luck!

While we wait on the DLC announcement, lets have a Cherry Bomb Battle! Play on hard, as I think the song is more difficult because of the rolls than Expert. Only one person on ScoreHero has FCed the song on hard. I'm trying to be the second.

I missed 1 note last night. :(

From Bang Camaro's blog:

Rock Band Stage Kit commercial is running

When you are looking for a band to look sweet in front of a lot of lights and fog... who do you call? Obviously it's us. The Stage Kit, an accessory for Rock Band, has a commercial out right now that features Alex, Rod, Morgan, and Pete. From what I've heard, they were all wasted throughout the filming of the video in order to capture the true feeling of a band on stage.

I should let one of them blog about it. I just thought I'd mention it because my friend Paul called me at 8am this morning to say that he saw us on VH-1. (ugh... that was WAY to early for me.)

Let us know if you see it. Hopefully it came out well.

Cause absolutely NOTHING about Rock Band is about fun, and feeling awesome like you're on stage. Oh? It's for pussies is it? I suppose it's not fucking fun if you're not playing 3,000 notes a second to Through the Fire and the Flames! You're more like the actual enemy, oh i'll sit fucking down. ROCK WHEN SITTING DOWN? ARE YOU INSANE MAN? Might as well play the game with a shitting controller, if you're just so fucking against enjoyment and having a laugh with friends.

I totally played standing up the other day. I sucked, but so what? JOKES ON YOU, PAL!

Interpol - Strokes - Editors - Rakes -Libertines - Babyshambles - Arctic Monkeys - Bloc Party - Franz Ferdinand

C'mon HMX, pick at least one.

The DLC will most likely involve existing bands that don't have at least 3 songs to create challenges when RB2 hits and/or Rush.

It's about time. Bring on a greatest hits pack.

Also notice how I posted a picture of the band when it still had 4 people. That should be related to the music released.
