Thats whatcha geeeet is fun on drums.

Seriously anyone who plays drums regularly needs to get the new ones, they complete shit on RB1's.

Out of guitar so far, I've pretty much enjoyed everything. Only three songs left (Stuck on Visions). Out of all the songs, the worst on guitar (imo) are:

1. Chop Suey
2. Pinball Wizard
3. Welcome to the Neighborhood
4. De-Luxe
5. Shoulder to the Plow

everything has either been awesome (Bodhisattva) good (Feel the Pain) or ok (Lazy Eye)

edit: ^^^^ quiet down, chop suey on guitar is ridiculous yet very fun. >:(

How much DLC do you have for RB PS3? If it's a substantial amount, don't get a 360 for solely RB2.
get one for the other games available on the system

No, it's worse than that. I am from Europe. We are the people that got the first Rock Band very late. I really dont want to wait till summer 2009, as I feel it will take that long to come over here again :(

I already have a PAL 360, PS3 and Wii, so i am basically contmeplating adding another 360 to the bundle just to play RB2

Did you mod yours at all?

I have a metal pedal-plate and silencers which give me better bounce and zero dropped notes. Wondering whether it's really worth the upgrade if we ever get the second set in Euroland.

Get the cheapest Arcade pack you can find. Use the power supply and HDD from your PAL 360. Instant RB2 :p

What do you recommend for silencers?

Just played a mystery setlist plus encore. 5 songs. Contained Carry on My Wayward Son twice.

Later...

Picked Everlong to play. Asked me if I wanted to film a random video. I said sure. The mystery video song was...Everlong. When I was done I still had to play my original Everlong.

These kind of things should never happen. I have 179 songs to choose from.

Just some speculation:

Songs that have been re-recorded have pretty much been released as DLC...Devo being the best example of on disc + DLC. The Bosstones' song is also a "Rock Band re-recording" so I'm guessing future DLC for them is probable.

I disagree with your number 2, but wtf is up with Chop Suey? It's like 100x times harder to play in RB than a real guitar. :lol So frustrating.. I need to get better at alt strumming.

I do have to say that the Tenacious D song is amazing. btw, is the movie good?

so fun so fun; i could play this all night. feel the pain is definitely the surprise hit for me so far even though i was really looking forward to it to begin with. kudos to whoever came up with that song selection--a great forgotten alternapop hit.

just getting to play all these really fun new rb songs all at once is like being a kid at christmas.

Anyone unlocked the ultimate outfits like the snake or assless chaps?

I just took a few shots of my set. Excuse the messiness of the room, and the fact that the Muppet Movie one sheet still needs to get hung on the wall.
I'm really hoping other people with ION kits post images of theirs, espeically of the layout and pad positioning they've gone with.

the layout...I pushed the green tom out and wide because I still use it as a crash in a number of songs

Interesting setup. Mine pretty much looks like the picture on the box. Why did you go with this particular layout?

Here's a pic of mine anyways..

I think he is trying to set it up like a real drum kit (I am not a drummer but I just google'd some illustrations on common drum kit setups)...

I will probably go the same route once I get my Ion kit (waiting for PS3 version, sigh)...if I wanted to play in the four-in-a-row layout I'd just use my old RB1 kit.

I made my own silencers.

The classic self-made ones. Self-stick foam, self-stick felt, Fiskars Circle Cutter. Kinda nice making the blue a bit darker than normal. Launch day pads and they've held up.

Amusix's setup is closer to a genuine drum set up.

Played the shit out of the game yet again. I've resorted to making my own list of gold stars so I can keep tabs on the songs I need to work on.

Here's the list. Some old DLC songs snuck their way in the Tour so I'll bold the RB2 songs.

FC:
Buddy Holly
Hello There
I was Wrong
Main Offender
My Worst Enemy
Nine in the Afternoon
PDA

GS:
Are You Gonna Be My Girl
Blitzkrieg Bop
Brass in Pocket
Cool for Cats
Dani California
Drain
Eminence Front (1 FC)
Eye of the Tiger
Float On
GGaHT
Hysteria
I’m still Alive
Let There be Rock
Lump
Rockaway Beach
Sabotage
Say It Aint So
Shooting Star
Something About you
Today
Reptilla
Rock n Roll Star
Rock’n Me
We Got the Beat

Hmm that's a shame... Thanks for the answer. I hope that Harmonix would so SOMETHING to make it possible though. Not everybody can afford a second guitar...
Not everyone can afford the game.

A controller would fuck with the leaderboards.

Awesome, thank you for showing it. Are you happy with the layout? How is reaching up so high for the yellow (high hat)?

As has been mentioned, yeah, I started with a standard kit layout. Your legs are parted, the snare (red) sits between them, the high hat (yellow cymbal) is directly above your left foot, the two toms (yellow and blue) are centered above your right foot, and the floor tom (green) sits next to your right thigh.

The tweaks I made are as follows: Yellow and blue toms are angled a bit into each other, allowing faster transfer between them. The blue tom is cheated up a bit, so that it feels a bit more like a ride, and bounces the stick correctly for triplets and trills. Likewise, the green tom is out a bit wide, and angled, so that I can just swing a stick wide and nail it like a crash.
I will suggest putting the green cymbals over the yellow tom. It takes a little training to stop automatically reaching to your right for a crash, but in the end, it makes certain sequences flow so much more naturally.

I saw the image in the instructions, and wondered why they'd suggest and identical arrangement, but I suppose it'd be the easiest to transist into. Then again, the note patterns are designed for that layout, and you probably don't have the same issue I do with the yellow=snare songs.

With the price cuts going into effect Friday, you can get a 60 GB 360 for cheaper than a Wii, so why not? :D

You'll get Rock Band 2 in time for the Space Olympics of 3022.
Why can't they just release the disc out there? What took the first game so long? I figured it was limited amounts of hardware as the bundle was pretty hard to find for a while in the US. Or is it licensing issues?

The first game took ages to come out here presumably because their hardware is so fucking awful they couldn't make enough of it that worked to launch in two regions. When they finally felt the hardware was good enough (which it obviously isn't) they put it out in Europe. Now we're gonna have to wait for Rock Band 2, cos it doesn't make sense from a marketing angle to put the second game out right after releasing the first one on PS3.

Horseshit.

Most likely true.

But it's horseshit. It's not like there are year gaps between Singstar's.

Yeah, being a fan aside, they are a band whos stuff is perfectly suited.
I guess corin oversings too much?

My best guess is an unwillingness to license. I suspect, however, that Harmonix may have a better shot at getting smaller bands than Neversoft due to the fact that they have legitimate musical credibility and can probably make a better case about caring about the music and bringing it to people in a new way rather than just making colon-clogging assloads of money.

Because the PS3 version in the US probably isn't that far down the line, and he can play that without having to buy a new console.

I thought many more people would have being excited for the Megadeth DLC finally going up, but instead there is silence. If it was Rush there would be much more conversation!

....this is why metal sucks!

Eh to be honest it does nothing for me anymore. Plus I woulda preferred a different album or a "best of".

I already got the only song I want from that album on the Rock Band 2 disc... and even then I don't think I'm ever going to play it more than like three times.

Is there anything I should be getting off Peace Sells? I'm guessing I should just save my points for the Colour and the Shape...
"The Conjuring" may end up being a great song on all instruments, certainly a great bass song. Other than that, "Wake Up Dead" and "My Last Words" are ones to watch. Actually, "My Last Words" will probably end up being one of the hardest bass songs in the game.

Rust in Peace would have been a lot better. /shrug
Anyway, downloading.
