Get Ten Duck. One of the best albums of the 90s.
Ten it is!

Are you just entering the same details over and over on the Stride page? I literally click on the button to submit it, go back, and do it over and over again.
No, I just entered my three email addresses three different times, and that's that. I don't think entering over and over again gets you more tickets in the raffle, so to speak.

For those that it might interest, $10 off a $10+ album purchase ($9.99 = free) on Amazon's mp3 service: http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?t=927834 Has to be an artist under SONY BMG, you'll know if they're eligible if it says "Special Offers Available" on the product page.

I got Tenacious D's Pick of Destiny for free :D

OT I know, but we discuss music enough in this thread.
OT or not, that's a nice deal. Thanks man!

Stupid question. Do the new wireless instruments have a USB dongle that you have to plug in? I'd love to get rid of the USB hub and free up a space on my power strip.

I'm pretty sure they connect directly to the 360 like the Les Paul, but don't take this as gospel since I haven't used an RB2 instrument myself.

Dave,
to answer your question from the previous page, Candy-O would probably be the best Cars album to check out next. Personally, it's my favorite, and it has a lot of the same style as their first album. Shake It Up also continues this sound, and brings more than enough good to the table to justify its purchase.

I also like Heartbeat City, though know that this is mid-80's Cars at their most processed. There are still great tracks on it (a number you most likely already know like Drive and Magic) but Hello Again and I Refuse are stand-out tracks.

The new Rock Band 2 guitar for the 360 is an actual wireless 360 controller, so it doesn't require any sort of wireless dongle.

And I find the playability to be pretty spectacular...

Hmmm, 154 downloaded tracks...that's a bit painful to think about. Especially because I buy two of everything (one for the home, one for the store).

Of course, when I play online, I seem to only be able to play with people who've bought none.

Is the Strat 2 good for down-strumming, and what did you use before it?

So I did some calculations about Harmonix's goal of 500 songs by year's end.

---

There are 14 weeks of DLC left. Including RB1 exported songs and RB2 songs, there are 370 songs available as of Sept 23rd. Assuming the 20 free songs don't get their own week, there are 390 songs.

Assuming each album get its own week...

The Colour And The Shape = 12 songs
Nothing's Shocking = 10 songs
Texas Flood = 10 songs
Best of No Doubt = 12 songs
Blood Sugar Sex Magik = 16 songs
Live at Donington = 18 songs

...There are 8 weeks left, with 468 tracks total. To merely meet their goal of 500 songs, they only need to output 4 songs on non-album weeks.

And of course, this is assuming the upcoming albums aren't also being released alongside various singles and/or packs.

Even the first wireless RB guitar doesn't need a dongle.

I imagine we'll see a lot more weeks like this one coming up, with an album and a bunch of other random tracks. If anything I think they'll pass the goal by a couple of songs.

This is all crazy to consider when they were talking awhile back of pushing the limit and having 200 songs out by the years end.

You are my new best friend. That song would be godly.

This might not be the right thread to post this in, but oh well. This thread is nice and active and on the front page.

What's the deal with RB Strat compatibility with Guitar Hero games? I much prefer the Strat to using the horrible Xplorer, but it doesn't work with GH II or III. Yet I just tried it with the GH Aerosmith demo, and it works perfectly.

I think Microsoft and Sony both sort of forced the issue of all controllers being compatible. So I believe it should work like this for the Strat:

GH II and III = no
Any game past that = yes

The strat doesn't work with the GH: Aerosmith demo on the PS3

I think it's safe to say that everything from Rock Band and Guitar Hero: World Tour on will have all controllers compatible.

It doesn't? Huh. PS3 always seems to be the weird odd man out on that issue... like having to pay for the right to use the Les Paul in Rock Band.

if i sell my rock band 1, and buy rock band 2 because you get an extra 20 percent off, will I be able to go over to my friends house and export the rock band 1 songs off his disc if he already did it?

As long as the Xbox Live account your using has the key purchased, you can use any Rock Band 1 disc to rip the songs again.

Boooo, battery powered Strat.
I've had Rock Band wireless guitar since January, I play all the time, and I only needed to replaced the batteries once. It took well over 6 months to reach that point.

You can use the Les Paul in Rock Band PS3 (free of charge). It just took forever.
You can use any PS3 guitar controller with Rock Band now.

The compatibility doesn't go the other way, though. You can't use any controller with the Guitar Hero games. That'll change with GH:WT. You'll be able to use any controller with GH:WT. Which makes me excited - I wasn't going to get WT until I knew Rock Band and Guitar Hero would both be compatible with any instrument.

God damn Harmonix. I just got the Worldwide Promoter, and all the later songs are just freakin' metal. Bullshit. No one wants to sing them, no one wants to muddle through Guitar on them, and no one wants to kill themselves playing drums.

Looks like I'm done with World Tour now, after I beat all the Make A Setlist anyhow.

Goddamn, Pump it Up is so awesome.

Plus I was able to beat the final band challenge thing with Painkiller, Spoonman, Battery etc with a friend on a sightread. I dunno how the fuck we did that.

Huh, I thought you needed to pay for some kind of patch to use it? Oh well, at least it got fixed to some degree.

I can also attest to this, I play Rock Band on a near daily basis, and I haven't even replaced the batteries on my Strat once yet.

I beat Tour mode today. Pain Killer took me 3 tries to beat. I seem to be still missing some songs. I have 76 open, and I'm thinking Ill try and unlock all but Visions so its ignored in quickplay.

So, is everyone else keeping RB 1, or what?

I'm thinkoing of trading mine in to chip a little more away at Fallout 3.

To anyone thinking of doing this deal with Amazon, I just tried it and the redemption code no longer works. I got charged. :(

I'm going to pass the instruments and game along to my sister. I'm trying to convince her husband to let insurance replace the 360 they had stolen from their house. He hates MS, but I gave them the thing for free, so he begrudgingly accepted it.

Damn, the code was pulled quickly. Luckily I got Ten for free and I'm loving it, so I'm a happy camper.

So I just did the Hot Topic sponsorship in World Tour mode. Finished just shy of 5 stars for the song (something like 95%). In the tally it gave me over 600,000 fans which is just crazy but before going back to the venue list a message popped up and said my set was sloppy and that i lost a lot of fans. Went back to the list and I noticed that I was about 800,000 fans short. WTF? I guess that is what I get for being a corporate sellout.

Has this sort of random kick in the nuts happened to any of you guys?

I sold my RB1 and instruments for $100 around the time when RB2 came out. That was 100 reasons I could live without Enter Sandman.

I did one of the Hot Topic Challenges and it gave me double money, but I lost double fans. It was for playing Paramore. I thought it was awesome!

Same thing happened here - I assumed fans thought we had sold out.

Hell yeah! That's totally what it was, and it was hilarious!

Once you hit a million fans, they don't really matter anymore, and you get so many every song anyways.
