after reading a bunch of reviews for the omega pedal, I decided to drop the $ and pick this up...After receiving it and setting it up, I played a few songs...and my initial reaction is disappointment. Im not a real drummer, rock band was the first time using a foot pedal and I used heel down..ive played with the settings a bunch of times, but I dont know how to fuck to get this to work for my tuning. did anyone here pick the pedal up here have any tips?

I just tried RB2 on a 4:3 TV for the first time. Holy shit... there are very noticeable black bars on all four sides, even with overscan compensation turned off in the options. With compensation on, they're almost half the surface area of the screen. It's ridiculous. I only reduced my overscan to about 4.5% when I bought the set, too.

I didn't think RB1 was that bad but if true that's horrible. I'm lucky now that most of my mates are using widescreen LCDs as their gaming TVs but a year back the only thing we would've been playing RB on at parties was a 4:3 screen.

I didn't notice that at all.

There are probably very few other people playing in 4:3 through HDMI. (This was one of the first TVs with DVI w/HDCP) Maybe that's a factor, somehow, but I really doubt it.
To the people who don't notice bars at all, I can only say that you must have insane amounts of overscan.

It might just be. I've been playing my 360 on a 4:3 set with Svideo for years and hadn't seen that in any games.

I think my strategy when I eventually get around this is to just tag team it with some friends. We can probably do expert guitar and hard singing or something along those lines and just switch people out when they need to eat or take a piss.

Well it finally happened... I FINALLY beat Green Grass and High Tides on Expert Guitar... 5 starred it no less. I felt so happy about it, I figured I'd give Snow one last try... and sure enough I beat it on my first shot (tonight) too. It's amazing how much easier Hyper/Breakneck Speed makes those songs. I now have completed every song I own on Expert Guitar. Granted, I don't have Blackened, Ride the Lightning, or any of the Thrasher songs. Still, I haven't shied away from any songs for seeming too difficult. Now I've just got to develop my leg and arm muscles to beat the harder drum songs.

My leaderboards are definitely messed up. My scores are uploading but NOTHING is effecting my career leaderboards. People on scorehero said it doesnt matter what mode you play so long as you're connected to live but whatever. Really fucking pissing me off, leaderboards are pretty big to me, was close to breaking into the top 500 before this shit started happening a week ago.

So I've gotten through most of the songs now and I just want to leave my opinion on a few. This is basically all from guitar impression by the way.

Let There Be Rock - Now my favorite AC/DC song. Probably because you never hear it on the radio. :lol I love the main riff and the singing in it.

Shackler's Revenge - Definitely growing on me. It's not nearly as bad as I thought it was at first. Pretty fun chart.

Chop Suey -
What. The. Fuck. Who thought that was a good way to chart a song? A masochist, that's who.

Pinball Wizard - God this song is no fun on guitar, but I do enjoy it on bass.

Dammit! Why didn't anyone tell me about this? I totally would have been there. Who doesn't love BotH?

I don't understand you people at all. I've frequently played games for that length of time without stopping to go to the bathroom, eat, etc. I really don't see what the fuss is about.

Just completed the endless setlist and got the bladder of steel achievement. I started playing during halftime of the Steelers/Jaguars game and just now finished.

I'm kinda tired.

Pics of me at the Coin-Op 4th Anniversary Party last night. (I'm in the Sexy64 shirt)

I didn't see any of Fatal1ty actually playing the game. Sorry. And yes! That girl is playing the drums in HEELS.

Well I just beat the final Vocal challenge on Expert with 5 stars on the Tangled Up In Blue finale.

Take that Dylan! Your whiny mumbling is no match for my superior mumbling skills.

My RB1 pedal snapped in two.
What's a cheap and easy solution to this? I see a few pedals on Amazon for $20-$30 and I'm willing to spend about that or less.

Pedalmetal or an equivalent but make sure it has a hinge. The hinge will be the next place the pedal will give. And then the base. There's pretty much no way out unless you get a full replacement pedal, my Woodrock is still going strong but they don't sell them anymore.

I thought about going to this too, but I'm an hour and a half away and it's a work night. God, I feel like an old man...

Anybody know if there are any third party GUITAR pedals out there for the new guitar? I love being able to use the drum pedal as an overdrive stomp box, but the cord on the drum pedal is wound so tight it often pops out of the little socket on the bottom of the guitar.

Dude, send that shit in to Mega64. They'll be proud of it. ;) I was looking at those pics saying to myself "OMG Sexy64 shirt? lolz!"

So I am about to buy my first rock game. GHWT and RB2 are either out or coming out this month.

This is the RB thread, so I expect heavy RB favoring. I think I agree though.

BUT I've heard that the GH guitars are just plain old better.

What's the story? Should I buy RB2 the game and a GH Guitar? Aren't they compatible?

What would you do if you were about to invest in Rocking?

New site kinda sucks. My characters don't load into the picture thing properly and overall it just feels like a prettied up version of the last website.

Hmm.. while it clearly states "Beta" on the header graphic, this seems more like a pre-alpha. None of it really works yet...

Question about challenges and achievements:

are achievements possible in co-op challenge? what if you save in the middle of one? I did both on the bass challenge, I was playing expert bass and didn't get the achievement.

Do you have any interest in the drums / singing? That would probably make a difference on recommendations.

You probably should try both guitars before buying. I personally prefer the RB guitar to the GH guitars I've tried because I like the buttons, form and weight more.

i don't think any of the new merch features actually work, and i've tried them in 3 different browsers...

i just want to know how much the figs will cost

edit: got it to work, 70 bucks

I'm going to wait for the GH:WT guitar and see how it stacks up to the RB2 strat. It's a tough decision, I could really use the silent strumming because with two guitarists the click-click of the GH guitars is grating, but at the same time the Strat won't work with my copy of GH3 (unless it's been patched?).

Decisions, decisions.

after using both I still like the RB guitar by FAR.

it's preference, but I think the RB one feels more natural
hell yea it is. For me, the GH guitars are always the best ones. RB2 guitar ain't so good for me IMO, because I always switch back to the LP.

I'll have to double check, but I'm pretty sure I got the impossible vocalist one while playing drums in someone elses' band. :lol :lol

I won a stride free Rockband song for my PS3, if i input the code does it just put 2 bucks into my wallet or should i wait to redeem the coupon for when i'm actually going to download something?

The two games themselves are essentially the same. The only important difference is in their track lists. Check out the available songs for each, and decide which to get that way (RB has a massive list, but GH has a number of key exclusives).

As for the guitars, it really does come down to preference. I started out on GH instruments, and originally liked them more. Now that I've gotten used to the RB guitars, I simply cannot play the GH ones because they feel so unnatural. Finally picked myself up a RB2 guitar yesterday, and the thing is far and away the best guitar made...for me.

That said, you'll find a lot of people here still hold to the GH guitar feel.

Drums are a different issue. I've played both now, and while the GH set has a very nice feel, I'm not fully loving the pad placement yet. In-game drums, however...well, they have very different approaches to charting, and personally, RB's is far superior, despite a few flaws that only come up on expert on a small handful of songs.
