We're also having a Rock Band competition at work in a couple of weeks. It's a fundraiser for another club, and lots of students have asked our band if we are entering. When we tell them no, they're estatic! They're all "Whew! Now at least I have a chance to win!"
We figure if our band enters, no one else will and the other club wouldn't make much money. It's great to be feared like that! Almost better than winning.

Does anyone know if I'll be able to pick up Rock Band 2 (PS3) at midnight this coming Saturday night/Sunday morning? We're having a party Saturday night, and we'd love to get started on the new songs ASAP. I'm guessing a 24-hour Wal-mart is the only option.

God, this holiday season will just take a shit on my wallet. Only having a Gamefly sub is a good thing, but it won't help you get the games that are coming out this fall because they are always not availavle.
You have to know how to work their system to your advantages.
For example: Dead Space is coming out this week and I'm gonna attempt to get them to send it to me on release.
1st, I own both the PS3 and 360.
2nd, I send my game back to them a week before the game I want is coming out.
Next I remove all games from my Queue except the one that's coming out. In this case I have both versions of Dead Space (PS3, 360) in there.
Now they should receive my game today or tomorrow and since the only game on my Q isn't out yet they can't send me anything.
When the game is released it is available for a small period of time before it becomes a low availability. Since I have both versions I have double the chances of getting it. Most likely the day it comes out they'll move that available game into the shipping section and I'll get it by Saturday or Monday.
Also, having a 2 game sub almost needed. I'm gonna be doing the same technique for Gears 2, and for Mirror's Edge.

I'm not buying anything other than GHWT and RB2 if it gets a patch. I've cancelled my preorders for everything else, I'll just rent.

Gamepass at blockbuster is the way to go if you live in America, it's 22 bucks a month and you can have 1 game or even bluray movie out at a time.
In the last 10 days I've rented star wars, iron man, mercs 2, facebreaker, nba 2k9 and right now I have deblob. It really pays for itself. Now I just need to sell some of my blood and semen to get GHWT bundle.

The wife and I love Man Man -- seen them five or six times at this point. It helps to know the material.
And I can totally get you being bored with The Mars Volta. I fully grant that they suck to most people, but we somehow derive pleasure from them. When you said a "different" did you mean that Thomas Pridgen wasn't playing? I'd say he's added a whole new layer to the band. He's like a hurricane. Usually the band is so wrapped up in their own jams that they kinda flail off in their own directions -- when Pridgen gets going they all just kinda stand there and watch him.

plus I don't ever want to feel guilty or regret for selling them like I've done in the past. I'm sad not having all my old sega stuff. won't make that mistake again.
it sure as hell costs a lot more, I know. but trust me, I don't buy nearly as many games as I plan to, or as I used to.

Oooh, and I finally gold starred Ride the Lightning last week (301k). Correctly saving star power for the quick strumming parts and not screwing up at those parts jumped my score a good 13k.
To kill time, yes. They aren't comparable, though, Geo Wars is built around the leaderboard, with Rock Band it's just one aspect out of many (playing with friends, playing And Justice For All by yourself virtually when you couldn't do it in real life, etc.)TheGreatDave said:

The Battle of the Bands feature makes individual song ratings pointless. What's goin g to keep me playing months from now? Certainly not continually hitting 'replay' trying to beat my own score in Painkiller. Instead, it's going to be trying to make my play consistent enough that I can dive into a 3 song set for points and know that I'm not going to completely blow it on the third song, no matter what it may be.
Continually handing me challenges is far more entertaining and desirable than me just sitting alone frantically beating myself over and over and over until I collapse with exhaustion.
