I'm fighting with myself really hard right now about whether I want to bite the bullet and get the SSF4 Tournament stick.

I never have put myself up to learning stick before as everytime I try, I always default back to pad as I play so much better with it.

Somebody needs to post internet deals for the TE stick to persuade me :lol

Coming from someone who has TE sticks on both systems, they don't really improve your game much. Yeah, they were better than the crappy Hori Fighting Stick 3 I had, but not $150 better. The wireless Tekken 6 one isn't half bad.

I'll amend those statements with 1) I still don't have a suitable table to set the stick on and 2) I'm a born and raised US arcade player so square gates still piss me off.

Strikeforce is awful. They nerfed the ground-and-pound game so much a few months ago it's seriously not even worth watching.

Yeah, I at least want to try a really good one out though. I have my eyes set on this one as Amazon deal is pretty good for it (~$130 free shipping).

Heard about people swapping out the square gates for octaganal ones, but I have no idea if something like that will be in my range of hardware tweaking. Last time I tried to mod a controller (an Xbox 1 Nuby Fightpad) I ended up breaking it. Are sticks easier to mod?

I figured everyone in here has a smartphone, because the majority of regulars post pretty frequently. But I guess not, I just want to see cell phone video of their rock band performance.

Back when 1up yours was around, Garnett was saying it costs about as much to make your own stick, and that it isn't that hard. I'm wondering if I should just do that? I'm more than qualified. I just don't know what I would need to buy, all Sanwa stuff probably?

the TE stick is amazing, i had a few of the cheaper ones and you can really tell a difference in the way the buttons feel and how the stick moves. I USED to be a pad fighter but made myself use an arcade stick, Its hard at first but then everything just kinda clicks. It took me about 2 weeks to really get the feel for it and if you use charge chars it makes pulling moves off SO much easier!! (bought mine last year when Frys had em on sale for $90)

EDIT: Ravien, the fight pads are also good, i used one up untill i wanted to get good with a stick.

I love the SF4 Fight pads.

I have the Guile Round 2 Fight pad and the Juri SSF4 fightpad. Both are almost identical, but the new Juri one feels like they did something different with the pad that helps grip more. However that may be because Juri pad is new and the guile pad is a little older and used more. Very happy with them. PS3 versions are also wireless.

Yeah , i would of never bought it at $150 but when Frys had that deal i said "why not". The Standard one is $45 if you wanted to just get a feel for a stick at first and not feel too bad if it didnt work out for you.
 
Ill probably end up getting the fight pad, I've been wanting one for a while. And I got SF2CE and a genesis 6 button controller for XMAS way back, so it's familiar.

I have a shitty Hori stick...maybe it's the stick but I'm just terrible with it. I can't even pull off consecutive hadoukens.

Just throwing this out to any of the tech heads here, but is there an easy way to get the Fight pads / Sticks working on the original Xbox? I would love to use my new stuff on my modded Xbox arcade emu's.
 
Saturn pad works well... now if only they'd release a good fighting game. 3s on PSN plz.

It's the stick. Pulling off ultras with that thing was completely random.

As for the fightpads, I'm biased. I had one, played that Genesis Collection game with it once, then it magically broke from sitting on a shelf. I plugged it in to play Raiden IV and it wouldn't register up or left.

I've had it in b/t/s with two games, possibly two controllers, 120 hdd, and complete in box. No serious takers.

But yeah, I'll throw it on ebay Sunday probably.

Hey bros how much does the PSP 1000 suck compared to the 2000? I can get a 1000 for MUCH cheaper off eBay and I wanna play Persona, Half Minute Hero and Monster Hunter.
