The Chapter 9 FFXIII boss took me 22 minutes, the target time is 12 lol. I had 600 left of Death on me too, if I didn't finish him I would have been very angry.

Yeah I was seriously under leveled and didn't have a strategy and death got me after 25 minutes the first time I fought him. I fucking lost it. Then I leveled a little bit and figured out what I was doing wrong and beat him pretty easily.

I wasn't even under-leveled, every char had at least 2 of their thingies maxed with only a few orbs left on their third. My strategy worked but it just took forever (Lightning, Snow, Hope), casting Death is lame in that regard. Reminds me of WoW bosses who just go beserk and Enrage to wipe everyone in one sec because you took longer than 10 minutes on the encounter or something. The boss is undebuffable, only his side armors could be. Or are debuffs different from status ailments.

How can you be underleveled in FFXIII? Serious question here. I've only reached 3/4 of Chapter 10, but I've never gone back to farm CP and I had no problem with the boss I just fought.
Game is about getting the new abilities unlocked for you asap, having a good paradigm deck, and kinda upgrading your weapons for the main people you use (killed Chap9 boss in 1 stagger).
Sell all your "money" chips, buy some good multiplier animal parts, and the best exp/gil ratio mechanical parts and go to town on the best weapon for that person for the role you want them to fill.
