I can agree with most of Dave's points. Except the selecting a difficulty before playing Quickplay. On the off chance I do drums, I tend to jump between Medium and Hard. Unless you combine it with my idea of DDR-Style options and I can change it whenever I need to.

In quickplay, you can change on the fly by pressing start. Nobody presses start anyway, we just use the green fret, so by doing that it'd let you switch if you change your mind. But for us cool kids who only play on expert (except for vocals and most the drums songs...) we don't have to worry about picking everytime.

Also:

When playing bass, make it so you actually HEAR the bass.

I hate having to adjust the music settings so that I can hear it on the majority of the songs. It makes a difference!

That's what I was saying when I meant "DDR-Style." In DDR, when you hold the start button, you get a set of extra settings (venue, character, difficulty, speed modifier...). As far as I know, Orange doesn't do anything, so that could be used to bring up the options menu.

Also, yes to bass solos and louder bass.

I am not a DDR player by any stretch of the imagination. But yeah, that's what I'm thinking!

That'd be sweet if HMX had like a giant pool of thousands of songs and they said "Pick 100 of them to customize your own RB3 experience". You pay them 60 bucks and they mail you your disc. Too bad that would never happen though.

My attempt

Main menu:
Hyperspeed setting saved. Different hyper speed settings for different instruments. Different hyperspeed speeds. All of this to be an option in-game and in the multiplayer lobbies.

In Game:
Different scroll speeds for local multiplayer
Option to have your highway be the same size as it is in single player, with the other players highway smaller.
Dave>>>>>JGR confirmed

Dave for HMX employee

I'm mostly agreeing with Dave on this page? That's unpossible!

I think they're moving further towards realism. Actually being able to hear bassists goes against that philosophy. :p

They should add a search feature in the song selection screen.

Best idea ever, I don't mind if they charge me $90 + shipping to cover their customizing costs.

I ask for three things, and three things only:

1: Please let us change difficulty from Pause menu! No more having to 'quit' and reselect everything just to change difficulty.
2: Rhythm guitar PLEASE.
3: Microphone attached to another instrument, ie: single player Guitar and Mic together. Better yet, a 'casual' microphone that can be attached to other instruments that won't fail or necessarily score so at least we can provide our own crazy vocals while focusing on the primary instrument chart.

Just finished playing the Green Day Rock Band demo and meh. I don't know, I think the whole presentation is ugly...the loading screens were cool, but the rest of the other menus are awful. The crowd vocals are a travesty...you can't even hear them sing. Seriously, what the fuck is up with that? Rock Band 3 better have awesome crowd sing-a-longs because the ones in the demo are terrible. The calibration was off for me so I felt that I wasn't playing properly....one thing I did like was bass. Bass > Guitar in this game. The bass chart for Welcome to Paradise is fun to play and challenging (at least it was for me!).

Another thing I noticed was the whole countdown thing if you pause the game. That feature appearing in this game pretty much confirms it will be in Rock Band 3 and boy, is it great to have a timer! Great job stealing one of Neversoft's good ideas, Harmonix!

The whole thing just felt... stagnant. There was zero atmosphere. Didn't feel like a huge sized venue (Milton Keynes). Glad I cancelled my pre-order, this should have been a track pack at the very most. They have missed the mark by at least a country mile.

Agree? disagree?

I like to add a thing my GF and friends kind of miss.
They don't play on Expert so they don't have any chance getting a song goldstarred. They are pretty good att Medium but as we all know there is quite a big step to Hard.
So why not have an extra rating for all diffuculties?
Bronze for Easy, silver for Medium, gold for Hard and Platinum for Expert..

OK, bored, a quiet night, so I'm going to judge JGR and Dave's lists, item by item:

JGR's List
= Musts =
- Harmonies. CHECK! hell yes. Was an obvious inclusion, especially since we've seen the harmony tags in dlc. Still, nice to see the logo
- Stars appear on the song select screen next to the song sure...if they want the score there as well, have it ghosted behind the score...that way it's not obtrusive, but very readable
- Countdown after unpausing in the middle of a song no reason to think it's not in there, since both Beatles and GD have it...so...yippee

= General =
- Whenever I beat a song, I want how much I beat my previous score, how I rank amongst my friends, and how many more points I need for the next star. lot of point stuff...I don't want to clutter up the post song screen too much...I did like how beatles did it, though...as for points to the next star...i like the circle meters, and the not knowing before you hit gold
- Visual representation, in game, of how much further I need for a gold star. They aren't a secret anymore, and I want to know how close I am to getting one. heh, yeah, I'd request just the opposite. Keep that hidden...transparency is not always a good thing
- Dynamic adding of songs. I don't know what this means
- A prompt that asks if you want to play the newly downloaded song next I'd prefer to be able to list songs by download date, but I'm not sure if DLC in general has that data tagged to it, so it might be an impossibility. However, you should be able to list by number of times played (eventually all 0 songs will be the new ones)
- Deleting, or hiding, a song from quick select. yes...custom quickplay playlists, please, that affect which songs can be pulled by random select
- More types of music video "venues." Even simple ones, like outside in the daylight playing in front of a fence. I'd love to see this...and more...like a late-night show venue, or a private record label venue, or a frat party venue....and remove crowd sounds from the venues that shouldn't use them, and adjust crowd sizes for venues that do...
- Faster loading of songs. well, Beatles was faster than RB2, so I could see RB3 optimized even more....honestly, though I don't find the load times too terrible
- Faster loading of the Online Stores. would be nice
- Quick trailer of the DLC when selected one of those 'too much to ask for too little payoff' things
- Option to turn off preview when in the store. or to just delete the preview file. I've clicked on so many of them, I'm beginning to wonder how much space they're taking up
- Leaderboards on the song select screen that show friends and overall position might be cumbersome, but I could see it doable...or maybe just make it something like holding the orange fret flips the song info over to a mini leaderboard
- Option to turn on lyrics without a singer. huh? why?
- Ability to sing and play any other instrument at the same time without needing an extra controller
- Rhythm, bass and lead guitar parts. as it is, with one track as bass, and the other an amalgamation of rhythm and lead, I just don't see the reason to split the lead and rhythm parts. Should the lead only play the lead track licks and solo? if not, then why add a part that is nothing more than the existing guitar with all the interest removed

= Single Player =
- RB1/GH1/2/3 style story progression. not sure what you mean, like the 'beat four songs, unlock four more' progression? That was in RB2 as well, so I could easily see it being in RB3....as for a story progression, a more fleshed out World Tour would be great (RB2's was just RB1 redux)
- DLC is automatically inserted. (Probably after playing through the story mode once.) I'd love to see World Tour get a lot heavier in it's DLC integration
- World Tour mode is where Challenges are and not needed to unlock everything. I'm getting a little confused...Challenges were the progression you requested before...so...that's what world tour is?
- Challenges are made up of location, genre or decade (Similar to RB2.) I do think that the 'instrument challenges' (that is, the traditional progression) should be renamed and recategorized, and the challenges should strictly be themed
- Challenges have "extra" challenge. Eg: playing to no music, playing a section of the song 100%. agree...things like 'no star power' or >80% a solo...or no backing band (I assume that's what you meant by playing to no music)

= Multiplayer =
- Drop-in/Drop-out play. No going back to the band screen. YES, YES, YES (unfortunately, we probably won't get it)
- Set "Friends Only" will allow only friends to pop into the game without needing an invite. Friends of Friends can join too. I could see this creating major network issues...that is, to add people in the middle of songs...
- Extra Options DDR-style. Eg: If you hold down start after selecting the song, you can choose venue, hyperspeed speed. yeah, access to advanced options from in-game would be nice....I'd like to see the ability to set 'favorite venues'....
- XBL/PSN cross play. (LOL.)

= Create a Character =
- More faces yes
- Band tees yes, though I understand they could run into licensing issues
- More Guitar/Drum brands difficult to do, the way sponsors work
- More "attitudes" or styles. eg: Metal, Punk, etc. Considering each attitude has an entire animation set for each instrument, I see this as being a very tall order...though I'm not sure what they'd add...country? funk?
- More art
- The ability to edit "permanent" features at anytime. Eg: hair, eyes, height. well, you can edit hair whenever you want...as far as eyes, those are locked into the face, I believe..though eye color should be able to be edited with 'contacts'...and height...well, I agree with the thought that a character's height shouldn't change...after all, it's not something we can change
- More clothing choices yes, though I'll admit that there are already a huge number to begin with....I'd certainly like to see more unlockable clothing and instrument choices, though
- More Instrument choices yes
- Rock Shop OUTSIDE of the Tour mode I'd just like to see tour mode quicker to get into...or just have it loaded up with your default band/characters from screen 1
- Ability to transfer "custom art" to friends possibly...seems like a minor thing...maybe the ability to send a character to a friend, and they can just pull the art off that character, if they wanted

= Extras =
- Setting characters to play when certain characters are selected. Eg: The same custom character can be set to play all bass characters in certain modes when bass is not selected. I think this would be achieved with the 'always in tour mode' thing...
- Also the ability to set female or male singer, depending on the song. sure, I'll go with this...shoudln't be too difficult

Don't think anyone's mentioned it in here, but Skate 3 has something like this. When you first load up the game, it shows a list of how all your friends are faring on the leaderboards, if they got any new achievements, links to skateparks/dlc/videos and stuff, and a bunch of other shit.

It's not an impossibility, but on the EA servers, it really sucks ass.

Seeing how good Beatles' leaderboards were compared to RB2, hopefully RB3 is another step forward. Don't let me down, EA!

Also, :D @ AMUSIX.

To celebrate the kick off of the big soccer match, the most widely viewed sporting event in the world, Steve Ouimette returns to the Guitar Hero stage with a collection of rock-inspired national anthems recorded exclusively for the Guitar Hero music library. Beginning June 8, gamers can download the exclusive National Anthem Track Pack for free on the Xbox 360(R) video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and the PlayStation(R)3 computer entertainment system. The track pack includes "God Save the Queen (GH Version)," "Il Canto degli Italiani (GH Version)," "La Marseillaise (GH version)," "Lied der Deutschen (GH version)," "Marcha Real (GH version)" and "The Star-Spangled Banner (GH version)."

Activision win again, Harmonix aren't generous enough :(

Also STP (meh), Alice Cooper (hmm...) and All Time Low (probably fitting) packs.

Ridley: spins that free, probably fun to play songs aren't a good thing.

Oh yeah, should have been on my RB3 list: let me rank every song after I play, RBN style, then sort by my own ranking.

The World Cup is in South Africa and they didn't do a version of Nkosi Sikelel iAfrica?

Or for fucks sake...how about Brazil. I heard they play soccer. Hino Nacional Brasil, plz.

Well, to listen to, sure!

I see no way for him to perform God Save The Queen that won't bring a tear to my eye though. HER MAJESTY *bow*

Does the United States even give a shit about football?

Still, you bros have a decent, if emotionless, national anthem. It's no God Save The Queen, but then what is?

Only being able to change a character's hair/costume is stupid and is an unnecessary limitation in a game where no one in their right mind gives a fuck about its realism. Put it under a plastic surgery/exercise/hormones category if you must, just give us the option. Getting your avatar's body size right first time is a real gamble considering you're not given any reference point.

It'd be nice if characters/art designs etc carried over from RB2 too. I made a character in RB1 but by the time RB2 came out I couldn't be bothered doing it again. Plus I made a bad ass GAF logo in RB1.

Do Brazilian own 360s? Is there a gh for the sega master system?

As long as I can make another all-white cowboy I'm happy.

So my wife and I were trying to wait until Friday night to watch the Lost finale (our schedules are so different, it was the only time we could have watched together), but when I got back from class last night at 10PM we stayed up late to watch it. She almost had the finale ruined for her on several occasions during the week as she teaches at a high school and I almost had it ruined for me while I was in class, so we bit the bullet and got less sleep. Anyway, amazing ending to an amazing show. I don't agree with every direction they took but I feel the finale was very well done.

I'm completely indifferent to the piano/keyboard announcement; although, I guess this means that The Office writers are some sort of genius oracles for calling Billy Joel: Rock Band. If we get Billy Joel in the game my wife will play for sure; Billy Joel is her favorite musician.

Green Day is crap on guitar (never any doubt, really), but I could see the value at a party. Pantera fucking rocks.

Since I don't want to work, here's my wishlist with absolutely no forethought:

Normal game:
- Voxtar with separate high score and on-screen presentation
- Way less behind-the-scenes loading between songs and let us pause at any time
- Countdown timer after resuming
- Allow the use of our CAC's in quickplay
- Star and score overhaul. I at least want to know how much better or worse I played compared to the high score.
- Rock Shop overhaul. RB1 and 2 pretty much had the same stuff.
- Second layer of sorting. Along the lines of Genre -> Band

Single player:
- Uncheck certain dlc from showing up in world tour
- Less reliance of on-disc songs in world tour
- More create a setlist gigs (maybe with forced minimum difficulty) so we can get money/fans in a quickplay-type setting
- Challenges that actually have challenges other than passing the song

Local multiplayer:
- Steal Party Play from GH5 but make the instruments turn off after 5-10 seconds instead of two minutes
- Let my gamertag switch instruments without exiting to the main menu
- Instrument and/or player specific no fail mode. I'm competitive, my friends suck at playing.
- Global/drop down menu style song list. For example, just show a screen with all the band names. When you pick a band, you get a list of their songs. Anything so I don't have to sit there for 10 minutes while noobs scroll up and down through 500 songs every goddamn time it's their turn to pick.

Online multiplayer:
- Instrument switching
- Robust and different career mode
- Make my highway bigger and the others smaller.
- Friend only game join even if they have to wait for the next song
- Add some mechanic for dlc you don't have in common. Maybe one free play with the option of purchasing afterward or instant background downloading of ones you want to buy.
- Completely optional ability to hear the singer if both parties agree and ping < X amount.

Instruments:
- Add cymbals to the drums
- When I set mic volume to zero, I don't want to hear my voice through the speakers

Yup. The second is a better game but a worse narrative experience if thats what you're there for.

Still up there for my GotY outside of Street Fighter though.

June 18th premiere of "Round and Round" the first single of the 2nd album will premiere on Radio Disney. June 20th premiere of the music video of "Round and Round" will on air Disney Channel (I am shooting that music video this weekend in Budapest). June 22nd "Round and Round" will be available for download on itunes.
You hear that Harmonix? Don't drop the ball and make me fucking play GH5 ever again.

I figure I'll go this route because after Megadeth, Priest, and Pantera we probably won't see anymore metal until 2011.

It's not like ME's narrative is Oscar worthy or anything. I talked to Ashley once in the entire game and she wants to bone me before the last level. :lol

Don't think this following statement is a spoiler...

I talked to Yvonne so much in ME2 that I broke the relationship mechanic before the 50% mark. She lost all dialog options because she already decided to fuck me and all the other chicks got pissed off even though I was 20 hours away from actually having the sex.
