As a 360 user I don't think it needed the disc, only to activate the code, then it proceeded to DL the 1.2 gig file but I never heard my disc spin. Of course I could be totally wrong

I think the disc validates the export process in some way through their music store.

You need the disc for the export code to work on the 360. I'm pretty sure I read yesterday that people could just redeem the code on PSN and download it without using the export option in the game.

I didn't know people actually posted in the DJ Hero thread. I visited it a month or two ago and my post from December was still on the last page.

Okay, it looks like the free export code from GS is the one you don't need the disc for, but you might need the disc for the code in the manual (the $9.99 export fee). I'll check the code after PSN goes back online.

It wouldn't hurt to make a noob thread like you suggested earlier. That way we don't have to answer "will my GH2 xplorer work in RB3" every day until January.
